Overview

The Team Associated LP Progressive Springs BL UE 14.9–17.3 lb/in (AS32057) represents a premium suspension tuning component for serious RC car enthusiasts across the UK. These progressive-rate springs are engineered to deliver exceptional handling refinement, making them an ideal choice for racers and hobbyists looking to optimise their RC car's suspension response and overall ride characteristics. Whether you're competing on the track or enjoying weekend bashing sessions, these springs provide the fine-tuning capability that separates a good setup from a championship-winning one.

Progressive springs are specifically designed to offer a compliant initial feel during the early stages of suspension compression, which helps the RC car stay planted and maintain grip across varied track conditions. As the suspension compresses deeper into its stroke, the springs become progressively firmer, providing additional support and stability when the vehicle encounters aggressive inputs or demanding terrain. This dual-action characteristic makes progressive springs particularly valuable for RC enthusiasts who want to balance comfort and responsiveness without sacrificing control, whether you're racing competitively or enjoying casual RC driving in the UK.

Identified by the factory designations BL UE, L17, and 4.5T, these Team Associated springs sit within the company's renowned LP Progressive Springs range—a series recognised for consistent quality and reliable performance. The AS32057 is a straightforward, no-nonsense choice for anyone looking to refine damping characteristics and ride quality using an official, genuine Team Associated part number. By upgrading to these progressive springs, you're investing in suspension tuning that can dramatically improve your RC car's handling across multiple surfaces and driving conditions.

Key Features

  • Progressive Spring Rate Design — The 14.9–17.3 lb/in progressive rate provides a soft initial feel for comfort and grip, transitioning to a firmer support deeper in the suspension stroke for stability and control. This progressive characteristic allows you to maintain traction through technical sections whilst still absorbing impacts effectively, making these springs versatile across different track layouts and driving styles.
  • Factory-Designated Specifications — Marked as BL UE, L17, and 4.5T, these springs carry Team Associated's factory identifications that ensure compatibility and precise tuning. These designations help you quickly identify the correct spring specification for your RC car setup and maintain consistency if you need to replace or upgrade components in the future.
  • Official Team Associated Component — As a genuine Team Associated part number AS32057, these springs are engineered to exacting standards using quality materials and manufacturing processes that Team Associated is recognised for. Using official parts ensures optimal fitment, consistent performance, and peace of mind that you're getting authentic RC components rather than third-party alternatives.
  • Fine-Tuning Capability — These springs allow you to dial in your RC suspension precisely, adjusting how your vehicle handles over bumps, through corners, and across variable terrain. The ability to fine-tune suspension response is essential for competitive RC racing in the UK, where track conditions can change between practice sessions and races.
  • Balanced Grip and Stability — The progressive design helps balance front-end grip with overall stability, preventing the suspension from feeling either too soft (losing control) or too stiff (losing traction). This balance is critical for maintaining consistent lap times and predictable handling characteristics that allow you to drive with confidence.

Technical Performance

The Team Associated LP Progressive Springs BL UE 14.9–17.3 lb/in deliver measurable improvements in suspension response through their progressive spring rate technology. The spring rate range of 14.9 to 17.3 lb/in means the springs start at a softer rate when you first compress them (14.9 lb/in), gradually increasing in stiffness as compression increases, reaching 17.3 lb/in at full compression. This progressive characteristic is achieved through specialised wire geometry and coil spacing that manufacturers like Team Associated perfect over years of racing experience. The engineering behind these springs reflects decades of professional RC racing knowledge, where suspension tuning directly impacts race results. Built with quality steel and precision manufacturing, these springs maintain their rate consistency through hundreds of compress-decompress cycles, ensuring reliable performance whether you're practising for club-level competitions or enjoying casual weekend driving. The spring specifications work in conjunction with your RC car's dampers and overall suspension geometry to create a complete tuning system. When properly matched with compatible shocks and damping oil viscosity, these springs help your RC car maintain better contact with the track surface, translate driver inputs more responsively, and maintain more consistent behaviour across different terrain types. The 14.9–17.3 lb/in rating positions these springs in the medium-stiffness range suitable for general-purpose RC car use, making them appropriate for a wide variety of driving styles and track conditions common in the UK RC community.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What does progressive spring rate mean and why should I choose progressive springs over standard springs? — Progressive springs have a spring rate that increases as the spring is compressed. Starting soft (14.9 lb/in), they gradually become stiffer, reaching 17.3 lb/in at full compression. This provides a compliant initial feel for better traction and grip over small bumps, whilst offering firmer support deeper in the stroke for stability during aggressive driving. Standard fixed-rate springs use a single rate throughout their compression range, making them either too soft for stability or too stiff for grip—progressive springs deliver both characteristics in a single component.
  • Are these springs suitable for RC racing in the UK? — Yes, absolutely. These Team Associated springs are designed for serious RC enthusiasts, including competitive racers. The official part number AS32057 and factory designations (BL UE, L17, 4.5T) indicate these are competition-grade components. Many RC racers across UK clubs and competitions use Team Associated progressive springs to fine-tune their cars for specific track conditions and driving preferences.
  • What RC car models are these springs compatible with? — These springs are part of Team Associated's LP Progressive Springs range. Compatibility depends on your specific RC car model and suspension design. We recommend checking your vehicle's manual or contacting our knowledgeable team at RC Model Shop to confirm fitment with your particular RC car model before purchasing.
  • How do progressive springs compare to other suspension tuning options? — Suspension tuning involves springs, shock absorbers, damping oil viscosity, and suspension geometry. Progressive springs work alongside these components as part of a complete tuning system. Compared to standard springs, progressive springs offer more nuanced handling characteristics. Compared to adjustable dampers, springs provide a more straightforward tuning method. Many serious RC racers use progressive springs as their primary tuning tool for adjusting suspension response without constantly changing damping oil or shock settings.
  • Will these springs improve my RC car's handling immediately? — The effect depends on your current setup. If you're currently using springs with an incorrect rate for your weight, driving style, and track conditions, upgrading to the correct Team Associated progressive springs should provide noticeable improvements in grip, stability, and overall handling consistency. If your current springs are already well-matched to your setup, the improvement may be more subtle but still beneficial for fine-tuning.
  • How long do RC springs typically last? — Quality steel springs like these Team Associated units are extremely durable and can last for hundreds of hours of RC driving. Springs don't wear out like tyres or brake pads; they maintain their rate characteristics through normal use. You'd only need to replace them if physically damaged, if you're changing your suspension tuning strategy, or if you're upgrading your RC car's suspension system.
