Key Features

  • Black Aluminium Centre Case — The servo features a striking black aluminium centre case with laser-etched details, allowing you to maintain a cohesive all-black aesthetic across your RC car setup and giving your vehicle that professional racing appearance that's become essential in modern RC car design.
  • Shorter 80mm All-Black Leaded Wire — The reduced wire length and all-black colour scheme complement modern RC car designs perfectly, reducing cable management issues in tight chassis spaces whilst maintaining visual continuity throughout your vehicle's electronics.
  • 12-Bit (4096) Resolution Digital Technology — This servo combines leading-edge technology with exceptional 12-bit resolution, delivering incredibly precise steering inputs that translate directly into faster lap times and more predictable handling characteristics on track.
  • Coreless Motor Design — The coreless motor provides high-speed response, incredible efficiency, and low power consumption, meaning your RC car battery lasts longer between charges and your servo remains responsive throughout extended driving sessions.
  • Metal Gear Train — Whilst many budget servos use plastic gears that strip under stress, the metal gear train in this servo ensures exceptional durability under harsh racing situations, protecting your investment and maintaining performance consistency.
  • Optimised Case Design for Thermal Management — The case design not only looks superb but also allows for cooler operating temperatures, protecting the servo's electronics during intensive racing and extending its operational lifespan.
  • Low-Profile Form Factor — The reduced size and lightweight construction (just 44.5g) make this servo perfect for confined spaces in large-scale gliders and space-saving requirements in 1/10th sedans with modern ultra-narrow chassis designs.
  • Ideal for 1/10 On-Road Vehicles — Purpose-engineered for 1/10 scale on-road racing, this servo delivers the speed and precision that competitive drivers demand, whether you're racing in organised events or practising at your local track.

Technical Performance

The SAVOX SAV-SC1251MGB+ is engineered to the exacting standards expected by competitive RC car racers across the UK and beyond. At 6V operation, this digital servo produces an impressive 9.0kg of torque (125.0oz-in), providing sufficient power for rapid steering inputs on high-speed on-road courses whilst maintaining the agility needed for precision cornering. The response time of 0.09 seconds at 6V demonstrates the servo's lightning-fast reaction to control inputs, critical for maintaining competitive lap times. Even at lower 4.8V operation, the servo delivers respectable 7.0kg torque (97.2oz-in) and 0.10-second response time, offering flexibility for different driving conditions and battery configurations. The coreless motor technology is the key to this performance, eliminating the cogging associated with traditional slotted motors and delivering smooth, continuous power delivery. The metal gear train ensures that this power is transmitted efficiently and reliably, without the flex or failure modes associated with plastic gears. Measuring just 40.3mm long, 20.2mm wide and 25.4mm tall, and weighing only 44.5g, this low-profile servo fits into tight spaces without compromising performance. The aluminium centre case provides superior heat dissipation compared to plastic housings, keeping the servo cool during extended racing sessions and protecting against thermal throttling that can compromise performance during critical moments in a race.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What voltage should I run this servo at for optimal performance? — The SAVOX SAV-SC1251MGB+ is rated for operation between 4.8V and 6V. At 6V, you'll achieve the maximum torque of 9.0kg and fastest response time of 0.09 seconds per 60 degrees. At 4.8V, you'll still get excellent performance with 7.0kg torque and 0.10-second response time. Most modern LiPo racing batteries deliver between these voltages, so compatibility is excellent across the vast majority of RC car setups in the UK.
  • Is this servo suitable for competitive 1/10 on-road racing in the UK? — Yes, absolutely. This servo is specifically designed for 1/10 on-road vehicles and delivers the speed and precision demanded by competitive racers. The 0.09-second response time at 6V is competitive with high-end racing servos, and the metal gear train ensures durability through extended race seasons. Whether you're competing in organised club events or practicing at your local track, this servo will deliver the performance you need.
  • Why is the low-profile design important for my RC car? — Low-profile servos are essential for modern RC car designs for several reasons. First, they fit into tight spaces in narrow chassis designs, particularly in contemporary 1/10th sedans that prioritise aerodynamic efficiency. Second, their reduced weight helps you achieve perfect weight distribution and balance, critical factors in competitive on-road racing. Third, the compact form factor means you have more flexibility in your vehicle's layout and can optimise component placement for better performance.
  • How does the black aluminium case benefit me? — Beyond the obvious aesthetic advantages of maintaining a cohesive all-black look across your RC car, the aluminium centre case provides superior thermal management compared to plastic housings. This means the servo runs cooler during extended driving sessions, protecting the electronics and maintaining consistent performance. Aluminium also provides superior structural rigidity, helping the servo maintain precision under the stresses of competitive racing.
  • What's the difference between digital and analogue servos? — Digital servos like the SAVOX SAV-SC1251MGB+ use high-frequency signal processing (12-bit 4096 resolution in this case) to deliver faster response times, greater accuracy, and improved holding torque. The 0.09-second response time at 6V demonstrates digital servo superiority over traditional analogue servos, which typically respond in 0.15-0.20 seconds. For competitive racing, this difference directly translates into more responsive steering and better lap times.
  • Is this servo waterproof? — The source material does not specify a waterproof or water-resistant rating for this servo. We recommend checking with our team at RC Model Shop for guidance on protecting this servo in wet conditions, as on-road racing typically occurs on dry tracks, but splash protection may be beneficial in certain environments.
  • What servo horn does this come with? — The SAVOX SAV-SC1251MGB+ comes equipped with a 25-tooth spline servo horn, the industry-standard size that fits most RC car steering linkage designs. This horn is perfectly sized for steering applications on 1/10 scale vehicles.
  • How does the coreless motor improve performance? — Coreless motors eliminate the cogging (jerky movements) associated with traditional slotted armature motors. This means smoother, more linear power delivery and faster response times. Additionally, coreless motors generate less heat and consume less power, so your battery lasts longer and the servo stays cooler during intensive use. These advantages directly improve your RC car's handling and race performance.
  • Will this servo fit my existing RC car? — The SAVOX SAV-SC1251MGB+ is a standard-size servo suitable for most 1/10 scale on-road vehicles. However, we recommend checking your specific vehicle's servo mounting specifications before purchasing. Our team at RC Model Shop can verify compatibility with your particular RC car model and advise on any adapter plates that might be needed.
