The soft compound racing formulation is specifically engineered for drivers who demand maximum grip and feedback during competitive on-road racing. Louise RC has invested considerable effort in developing tyre compounds that build grip as they reach operating temperature, meaning you'll experience improved performance as your race progresses. The set includes foam insert technology and features Louise RC's renowned Micro Fibre Technology (MFT) construction, which prevents the tyre deformation and ballooning that plagues standard racing tyres at speed.
Key Features
- Micro Fibre Technology (MFT) Construction — The textile belt woven into the rubber tread prevents tyre ballooning and deformation during high-speed acceleration and powerful cornering, keeping the tyre shape consistent and maintaining the tyre diameter regardless of driving intensity, which translates to stable handling and predictable lap times.
- Racing-Grade Soft Compound — Formulated specifically for competitive on-road racing where maximum grip is essential, this compound has been engineered to build additional grip as the tyre reaches optimal operating temperature, meaning your best times come later in your race as the tyres come alive.
- Pre-Mounted and Factory-Glued — These tyres arrive already securely bonded to the wheels using Louise RC's proprietary rubber cyanoacrylate adhesive, which is specially formulated and applied using precision dosing machines to ensure perfect, even glue distribution that passes rigorous spinning and pulling tests before shipping.
- Optimised Foam Inserts — The cut-to-size foam inserts are selected for specific density and size to guarantee perfect dampening characteristics and maintain form stability, ensuring your tyres deliver consistent feel and feedback throughout your entire driving session.
- High-Quality Nylon Composite Wheels — The wheel rims are manufactured from Dupont-developed nylon composite materials, either fibre-charged or plain, selected specifically for their ability to withstand the extreme loads placed on them during cornering, acceleration and high-impact landings that are part of aggressive RC racing.
- Professional Wheel-to-Tyre Bonding Process — Louise RC employs an industry-leading multi-step bonding process including grinding and degreasing of both the tyre and wheel surfaces before applying adhesive with a precision dosing machine and then pressing for specific cure time to guarantee that these tyres will not separate under extreme forces.
- Universal 17mm Hex Fitment — Compatible with the 17mm hex adapter standard used by the vast majority of modern 1/8 GT racing cars, meaning you can install these tyres on your ARRMA Typhon, Associated RC8, Mugen MBX, Losi 8ight, Team Corally Python or many other 1/8 scale platform available in the UK.
- Extended Tyre Lifespan — The combination of MFT technology, optimised compound formulation and precision manufacturing means you'll enjoy measurably longer tyre life compared to standard tyres, reducing the frequency of tyre replacement and lowering your overall racing costs.
Technical Performance
These Louise RC GT-Tarmac tyres represent a significant engineering achievement in on-road racing tyre design. The 104mm diameter and 42mm width have been carefully calculated to deliver optimal contact patch for 1/8 GT racing applications, with each tyre and wheel assembly weighing 111 grams. The Micro Fibre Technology embedded within the rubber tread is the standout engineering feature—this textile reinforcement belt fundamentally changes how the tyre behaves under load, preventing the sidewall flex and diameter expansion that occurs with conventional tyres when subjected to powerful acceleration or high-speed cornering. At the heart of Louise RC's manufacturing excellence is their commitment to precision bonding: the tyre rings and wheel surfaces are ground and degreased to remove contamination, the specially formulated rubber cyanoacrylate adhesive is applied in precisely measured quantities through automated dosing equipment, and the assembly is then pressed for a specific duration to ensure complete curing before being subjected to spinning and pulling tests to verify perfect adhesion. The racing-grade soft compound has been developed through years of competition feedback to strike the optimal balance between grip level and wear characteristics—it grips hard enough to deliver the cornering speeds and acceleration needed to win races, yet lasts long enough to make a full race day worthwhile. This combination of engineering excellence, material science and manufacturing precision is why Louise RC has earned its reputation as one of the industry's premier tyre manufacturers. The soft compound formulation means you should plan to run a few warm-up laps before pushing to your absolute limit, as these tyres deliver noticeably more grip once they reach their ideal operating temperature. It's also worth noting that MFT tyres are typically slightly heavier and larger than conventional tyres without this technology, so you may wish to check and potentially adjust your gear ratio accordingly, and consider upgrading to a higher-torque steering servo since these grippier tyres place additional load on steering components.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Which RC cars are these Louise RC tyres compatible with? — These tyres feature a universal 17mm hex fitment and are designed for 1/8 GT and buggy racing cars, making them compatible with leading models including ARRMA Typhon, ARRMA Infraction, ARRMA Limitless, Associated RC8, Associated DB8, Carson Virus, Carson Specter, Hobao Hyper VS, Losi 8ight, Mugen MBX series, Mugen MGT series, Sworkz S35-GT, Team Corally Python XP, X-Ray XB-8 and X-Ray GT8. Louise RC provides a detailed tyre-wheel car compatibility chart on their website to verify fitment for your specific model, so we recommend checking that resource if your car isn't listed here.
- What does Micro Fibre Technology actually do? — MFT stands for Micro Fibre Technology and refers to a textile belt incorporated into the rubber tread structure of the tyre. This textile reinforcement prevents the tyre from deforming and ballooning during high-speed driving and powerful acceleration, which means the tyre maintains its shape and diameter even under extreme forces. Without MFT, conventional tyres will expand and change shape at high speeds, which disrupts your handling characteristics, reduces road contact and makes driving feel unpredictable. These Louise RC tyres with MFT technology keep the tyre perfectly stable regardless of how hard you're driving, delivering better stability, significantly more consistent road contact and ultimately longer tyre life.
- Will these racing tyres work well for a beginner RC racer? — These are competition-grade racing tyres designed specifically for serious competitors and experienced drivers who want professional performance and are willing to invest in quality. The soft compound provides maximum grip but requires some warm-up laps to reach optimal temperature, and the enhanced grip means you'll need a capable RC car setup with a higher-torque steering servo to handle the increased demands these tyres place on steering components. If you're just getting into RC racing, you might find these tyres more demanding than entry-level alternatives, but if you're ready to commit to competitive racing and want the best equipment to improve your results, these are an excellent choice.
- Why are these tyres heavier and larger than standard tyres? — The Micro Fibre Technology and the precision manufacturing process used by Louise RC mean that these racing-grade tyres are typically slightly heavier and may run at a marginally larger diameter than conventional tyres without MFT construction. This is a natural consequence of the additional materials and engineering involved in creating superior performance. Because they're heavier and slightly larger, you should check your existing gear ratio and consider whether an adjustment might optimise your performance, and you should ensure your steering servo is rated for the additional load that these grip-enhanced tyres will place on it. Many racers find that a servo upgrade improves steering response when running these premium tyres.
- What's the best way to prepare these tyres before racing? — Always run several warm-up laps before you start pushing for your fastest times, as Louise RC's racing compound formulations build additional grip as the tyre temperature increases. During these initial laps, the tyre will gradually improve its grip level, and you'll notice the handling becoming progressively more responsive and predictable. Once the tyres have reached their ideal operating temperature, you'll experience the full performance potential that makes these Louise RC tyres so popular among serious racers. This warm-up period is completely normal for racing-compound tyres and is one of the characteristics that separates professional racing rubber from casual hobby-grade alternatives.
- How does the factory gluing process work? — Louise RC employs an industry-leading multi-step process to ensure perfect tyre-to-wheel bonding. The process begins with grinding and degreasing both the tyre rings and the wheel surface to remove any contamination that might interfere with adhesion. Next, a specially formulated rubber cyanoacrylate adhesive (developed specifically for Louise RC) is applied using a precision automated dosing machine that applies exactly the right amount of glue every time. The bonded tyre is then pressed for a specific duration to ensure proper curing and optimal adhesion. Finally, every completed tyre passes both a spinning test and a pulling test to verify that the bond is absolutely perfect before it leaves the factory. This rigorous quality control ensures you're getting tyres that will never separate under the extreme forces of competitive racing.
- What makes Louise RC tyres different from cheaper alternatives? — Louise RC has spent decades perfecting tyre design, compound formulation, wheel materials and manufacturing processes. Their wheels use Dupont-developed nylon composites specifically engineered to withstand extreme loads, their soft racing compound has been refined through years of competitive racing feedback, their Micro Fibre Technology provides genuine performance advantages over standard construction, and their factory bonding process is considered among the best in the RC industry. When you buy Louise RC tyres, you're buying the result of professional expertise, advanced materials science and precision manufacturing—not just a basic rubber wheel alternative.
