Technical Performance
The Killer Body Carbon Finish Lexan Sheet represents a premium consumable component engineered for RC enthusiasts demanding the highest standards of quality and reliability. Lexan polycarbonate is the industry-standard material for RC bodywork throughout the UK and globally, selected by professional RC racers and hobbyists alike for its exceptional durability, impact resistance and workability. At 1.2mm thickness, this sheet provides superior structural integrity compared to thinner alternatives—it resists deformation under the aerodynamic forces and G-forces experienced during high-speed RC driving, whilst remaining flexible enough to absorb impacts without cracking or shattering. The carbon finish is applied to both surfaces, providing consistent aesthetics from every angle and ensuring your RC car looks premium whether viewed from above, the side or during action photography. The 203mm x 305mm dimensions provide generous material for cutting multiple panels from a single sheet, reducing waste and maximising value for your RC project budget. Whether you're repairing battle-damaged bodywork on your 1/10 scale RC monster truck, creating custom window inserts for a touring car, or fabricating protective skid plates for rock-crawling applications, this sheet delivers the reliability and performance you expect from a Killer Body product. The Lexan material accepts standard RC polycarbonate paint systems, allowing you to add custom colours and designs if desired, or use the carbon finish as-is for an instantly professional appearance. Temperature stability ensures the sheet maintains its properties across the range of conditions experienced by UK RC enthusiasts, from summer sun to winter cold.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is Lexan and why is it used for RC car bodywork? — Lexan is a premium polycarbonate plastic that has become the industry standard for RC car bodies. It's chosen because it offers exceptional durability, impact resistance and flexibility, allowing RC bodywork to withstand crashes and contact without cracking or breaking. Unlike cheaper plastic alternatives, genuine Lexan can be heated and formed for custom shapes, accepts paint and vinyl wraps, and provides the structural rigidity needed for high-speed RC driving. Every serious RC enthusiast in the UK uses Lexan for custom bodywork and repairs.
- What thickness should I choose for RC bodywork? — The 1.2mm thickness of this sheet is the sweet spot for most RC applications. It's thick enough to provide excellent structural rigidity and resist deformation during driving, yet thin enough to remain flexible for cutting, trimming and heat-forming into custom shapes. For most 1/10 scale and smaller RC cars, 1.2mm is the standard choice; larger vehicles and competition builds often use 1.5mm or 2mm sheets for additional strength.
- Can I paint or customise this carbon finish sheet? — Yes, absolutely. The Lexan sheet can be painted using standard RC polycarbonate paint systems, allowing you to add custom colours, patterns and designs. Alternatively, you can use the carbon finish as-is for an instantly professional appearance without additional work. The sheet also accepts vinyl wraps and decals if you prefer that method of customisation.
- What RC car types can I use this sheet for? — This sheet is suitable for virtually any RC vehicle platform where custom bodywork is needed, including 1/10 scale RC buggies, monster trucks, touring cars, short-course trucks, rock crawlers and many others. The 203mm x 305mm dimensions provide enough material for creating body panels, window inserts, protective guards and other custom components on most RC cars.
- How do I cut and shape the Lexan sheet? — Lexan can be cut using fine-toothed saws, craft knives, or rotary tools fitted with cutting wheels. For curved shapes and custom forms, many RC enthusiasts heat the sheet gently (using a heat gun, never direct flame) to increase flexibility, then mould it over a template. Once cooled, it holds the new shape permanently. Always wear safety equipment when cutting Lexan, as the pieces can have sharp edges.
- Is this sheet suitable for beginners? — Yes, this is an excellent product for beginners looking to learn bodywork customisation. Starting with a single sheet allows you to experiment with cutting, painting and shaping techniques without committing to a full bodyshell. The generous 203mm x 305mm dimensions provide plenty of material for learning, and mistakes won't be as costly as on a complete body.
- How does the carbon finish compare to other colours? — The carbon finish provides a modern, professional, race-inspired aesthetic that works with virtually any RC car colour scheme. It's more versatile than metallic or pearl finishes because it complements rather than competes with your chosen primary colour. The carbon effect also hides minor blemishes and dust better than solid bright colours, keeping your RC car looking premium for longer.
