Overview

The Killerbody LED Light System with Control Box (KB48103) is a comprehensive lighting solution designed for RC car enthusiasts who want to add realistic light effects to their scale models. This 18-LED lighting kit brings your RC vehicle to life with a carefully balanced mix of white, red, and orange LEDs, creating authentic headlights, brake lights, and indicator effects that make your RC car look like a genuine miniature vehicle. Whether you're running a 1/10 scale RC buggy, drift car, or touring car on the track or bashing around your local RC racing circuit in the UK, this universal lighting system integrates seamlessly with most RC models available on the market.

Perfect for hobbyists looking to enhance their RC car UK setup without complicated wiring or custom modifications, the KB48103 includes everything you need to get started: a dedicated control box, connecting wires, and all 18 individual LEDs ready for installation. The system works with your existing RC receiver through simple Y-style connector leads, meaning you don't need to sacrifice radio channels or invest in additional equipment. This makes the Killerbody lighting kit ideal for anyone from complete beginners discovering the RC hobby for the first time to experienced modellers who want quick, reliable lighting without the fuss of custom electronics.

RC car enthusiasts appreciate realistic lighting effects that transform their models during evening outdoor bashing sessions or indoor track days. The KB48103 delivers this experience with professional-grade LED technology and intelligent brake light and indicator functions that respond to your driving inputs, creating an immersive and authentic driving experience that rivals much more expensive lighting systems available at RC specialist shops across the UK.

Key Features

  • 18 Individual LEDs in Multiple Colours — The system comprises 10 white LEDs for realistic headlights, 4 red LEDs for brake lights that activate when you decelerate, and 4 orange LEDs for turn indicators that respond to your steering input, giving your RC car authentic road-going lighting behaviour that enhances realism during day or night driving sessions.
  • Dedicated Control Box — Rather than relying on complex plug-and-play modules, the KB48103 includes a standalone control box that manages all lighting functions independently, ensuring reliable operation and simple integration with your existing RC receiver setup without requiring custom programming or additional radio channels.
  • 5mm Diameter LEDs — The 5mm size is the industry standard for RC scale model lighting, providing excellent brightness-to-size ratio that looks proportionate on 1/10 scale vehicles and scales models whilst remaining visible even in bright daylight conditions during outdoor RC racing sessions.
  • Y-Style Connector Leads — The system connects directly to channels 1 and 2 on your receiver through convenient Y-style leads, eliminating the need to splice wires or modify your receiver, making installation straightforward even for RC hobbyists with limited technical experience or soldering skills.
  • Universal Compatibility — Whether you're running a Nissan Skyline GTR R34, Subaru WRX, Toyota Land Cruiser LC70, MAN TGS truck conversion, or any other Killerbody scale model, this lighting system is engineered as a universal solution that works across the entire Killerbody RC car range and compatible models from other manufacturers.
  • Brake Light Function — When you release the throttle or apply the brakes during driving, the red LED brake lights automatically illuminate, mimicking real vehicle braking behaviour and adding authentic dynamic lighting effects that respond directly to your driving inputs.
  • Turn Indicator Function — As you steer your RC car left or right, the orange indicator LEDs illuminate on the appropriate side, creating realistic directional signalling that enhances the scale realism of your model during RC track days or bashing sessions.
  • Simple Installation — The modular design and pre-wired LED units eliminate complex soldering or custom fabrication, allowing you to install the Killerbody lighting system in minutes rather than hours, making it ideal for RC enthusiasts who want professional results without extensive technical knowledge.

Technical Performance

The Killerbody KB48103 LED lighting system represents solid engineering design optimised for reliable RC car operation. Each of the 18 LEDs operates at standard 5mm brightness levels, with the white LEDs providing excellent forward illumination comparable to real vehicle headlights when viewed from a distance. The control box manages power distribution and timing functions automatically, responding to receiver signals to trigger brake lights and indicators without requiring additional programming or calibration. The system operates on standard RC receiver voltage (typically 4.8-6V from your receiver battery pack), eliminating the need for separate battery systems or additional power supplies. The connecting wires are sized appropriately for the low current draw of LED systems, typically drawing well under 1 amp total, making them compatible with any standard RC receiver and battery combination currently in use by RC enthusiasts in the UK. The build quality reflects Killerbody's attention to scale model authenticity, with professional-grade components that have proven reliable through thousands of user installations on RC vehicles ranging from competition-grade circuit cars to weekend bashing machines. Whether you're running brushless or brushed motor systems, 2WD or 4WD vehicles, touring cars or crawlers, the KB48103 lighting system integrates seamlessly without generating electrical interference or affecting your vehicle's performance characteristics.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What size are the LEDs in this Killerbody lighting kit? — The KB48103 uses 5mm diameter LEDs, which is the industry standard for RC scale model lighting systems. This size provides excellent visibility and realistic proportions on 1/10 scale Killerbody models and similar RC vehicles available from UK RC retailers.
  • Will this lighting system work with my specific Killerbody body shell or RC model? — Yes, the KB48103 is designed as a universal lighting solution that works with the majority of Killerbody RC cars including the Nissan Skyline GTR R34, Subaru WRX, Toyota Land Cruiser LC70, and MAN TGS truck conversions. However, some models like the Subaru WRX have alternative lighting options, so contact our RC Model Shop team if you have questions about your specific model.
  • Do I need to use any additional radio channels to operate this lighting system? — No, the KB48103 connects through Y-style leads that plug into channels 1 and 2 on your receiver, meaning you don't need to sacrifice any radio channels or invest in additional receiver modifications. The system operates entirely through your existing RC transmitter and receiver setup.
  • How do the brake lights and indicator functions work? — When you release the throttle or apply brakes on your RC car, the red LED brake lights automatically illuminate. Similarly, when you steer left or right, the orange indicator LEDs light up on the corresponding side, creating realistic vehicle lighting behaviour that responds directly to your driving inputs during RC racing or bashing sessions.
  • Is this lighting kit suitable for beginners in the RC hobby? — Absolutely. The Killerbody KB48103 is one of the most beginner-friendly lighting systems available for RC cars in the UK. The Y-style connectors mean no soldering is required, the control box manages all functions automatically, and installation typically takes just a few minutes. Even if you've never installed lighting before, you'll find this system straightforward to set up.
  • What voltage does this LED system require? — The KB48103 operates on standard RC receiver voltage, typically 4.8-6V from your receiver battery pack. This means it works with virtually every RC receiver and battery combination currently in use, requiring no additional power supplies or separate batteries.
  • What is the difference between the KB48103 and the KB48101 lighting kit? — The main difference is LED count. The KB48103 features 18 LEDs total (10 white, 4 red, 4 orange), whilst the KB48101 is a simpler 10-LED configuration. The KB48103 provides more comprehensive lighting coverage with a dedicated control box, making it better for vehicles where fuller lighting effects are desired.
