Overview

Transform your RC model into a stunning illuminated machine with the Killer Body KB48101 LED Light System w/ Control Box. Whether you're running an RC car, truck, or crawler around your local RC circuit in the UK or enjoying weekend bashing sessions, adding authentic lighting effects takes your model to the next level. This complete LED lighting solution is designed specifically for RC enthusiasts who want to enhance their vehicles with professional-grade illumination without complex wiring or complicated installation. The system comes fully assembled and ready to integrate into your favourite RC model, making it an ideal upgrade for both seasoned RC racers and hobbyists discovering the world of RC customisation for the first time.

The KB48101 represents excellent value for money, offering a versatile lighting package that works with a wide range of RC models in the UK market. Rather than settling for a basic model without any lighting effects, this system allows you to create realistic vehicle lighting that looks fantastic during daylight photography, evening runs, and indoor track sessions. The colour-coordinated LED bundle gives you total creative control over your lighting design, whether you want to replicate authentic emergency vehicle lighting, create custom underglow effects, or simply add eye-catching accent lighting to make your RC model stand out from the crowd.

Key Features

  • Complete Control Box System — The included LED control box provides centralised management of all your lights, allowing you to switch between different lighting effects and configurations with ease. This eliminates the need for complex manual wiring and gives you intuitive control over your vehicle's illumination.
  • 10 LEDs in Multiple Colours — The system includes a carefully balanced selection of LEDs: 2 white LEDs for headlights or accent lighting, 2 blue LEDs for dramatic effects, 2 red LEDs for rear lights or emergency styling, and 4 orange LEDs for side markers or additional creative lighting. This colour variety allows you to design authentic or custom lighting schemes to suit any RC model.
  • Standard 5mm LED Diameter — All included LEDs feature a universally compatible 5mm diameter, making them easy to mount in standard LED holders, light buckets, and aftermarket light housings available for most RC models. This standardisation ensures hassle-free installation and compatibility across different vehicles.
  • Connecting Wire Included — Two connecting wires are provided in the package, giving you the flexibility to route power and signal lines through your RC model's chassis and body as needed. These wires facilitate clean, professional-looking installations without exposed connections.
  • Clear Installation Instructions — An instruction sheet is included with the system, providing step-by-step guidance on connecting the control box, wiring the LEDs, and integrating the system into your specific RC model. This comprehensive documentation makes installation straightforward even for first-time users.
  • Straightforward Setup Process — Unlike complex custom lighting solutions, the KB48101 is designed for simplicity. The pre-assembled control box and standardised components mean you can get your RC model lighting up in minutes rather than hours of fiddling with individual components.

Technical Performance

The Killer Body KB48101 LED Light System represents a smart engineering solution for RC modellers seeking authentic illumination without the complexity of professional-grade racing electronics. The control box acts as the central hub, managing power distribution and signal control to all connected LEDs with reliable, stable performance. The 5mm LED format is the industry standard for RC lighting applications, widely used across everything from 1/10 scale RC crawlers and buggies to larger 1/5 scale RC trucks and rock crawlers. This standardisation means replacement LEDs are readily available from RC retailers across the UK, ensuring your lighting system remains maintainable for years to come. The dual connecting wires provide sufficient routing options for most RC chassis configurations, though modellers working with particularly compact builds may benefit from planning their wire routing before installation. The system's design prioritises reliability and ease of use, making it an excellent choice for club racers, weekend bashers, and RC enthusiasts who want professional-looking results without excessive technical complexity.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can I use this LED system on any RC model? — Yes, the KB48101 is designed to work with any RC vehicle that can accommodate a control box and LED wiring. This includes RC cars, trucks, crawlers, and buggies. The 5mm LED standard is universally compatible with most RC light kits, housings, and aftermarket lighting components available in the UK RC market.
  • Is this suitable for beginners to RC lighting? — Absolutely. The KB48101 is one of the most beginner-friendly LED systems available. Unlike complex programmable systems, this straightforward control box approach requires no technical knowledge. The included instruction sheet guides you through setup, and the standardised components eliminate confusion about compatibility. Whether you're completely new to RC lighting or upgrading from a basic torch-and-prayer approach, this system is accessible and reliable.
  • How many LEDs does the system include? — The system includes 10 LEDs total: 2 white, 2 blue, 2 red, and 4 orange. This diverse colour range allows you to create authentic emergency vehicle lighting (using red and blue), custom underglow effects (using blue and orange), or realistic headlight and taillight configurations. If you need additional LEDs beyond these 10, standard 5mm LEDs are affordable and widely available from RC retailers.
  • What colour LEDs are included? — The package includes white LEDs ideal for headlights and bright accent lighting, blue LEDs perfect for dramatic styling effects or emergency lighting simulation, red LEDs suitable for rear lights and brake light effects, and orange LEDs excellent for side markers, indicator lights, or ambient underglow. This balanced selection covers most common RC lighting scenarios.
  • Do I need to solder or use complex wiring? — The system is designed to minimise complex wiring. The control box handles the main electrical management, and the two included connecting wires provide routing flexibility. Depending on your specific RC model and chosen light locations, you may need basic soldering skills or crimp connectors, but the system's design keeps this to a minimum. The instruction sheet provides guidance on the simplest installation approach.
  • Can I add more LEDs to this system? — The control box is designed to work with the 10 LEDs included in the package. If you want additional lighting beyond these 10 units, you'll need to consider supplementary lighting systems or consult the instruction sheet for guidance on expanding the system safely without overloading the control box.
  • What power source does the LED system use? — The system connects to your RC model's existing power system. Most users integrate it with their vehicle's main battery or a dedicated receiver battery, allowing seamless control alongside your model's main electronics. Specific power requirements and connection details are provided in the instruction sheet.
  • How does the control box work? — The control box centralises management of your LED lighting, allowing you to switch effects on and off, control brightness, or programme different lighting patterns depending on the specific model and features. Rather than managing individual LED wires, you simply control the main box, which distributes power and signals accordingly.
