Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the difference between the four spring rates in this assortment? — The four spring rates (2.0 Blue, 1.6 Red, 0.8 White, and 0.4 Yellow) represent different levels of stiffness. The higher numbers indicate stiffer springs that resist compression more, providing firmer suspension response ideal for smooth terrain or when you want more responsive handling. Lower numbers like 0.4 indicate softer, more compliant springs that compress more easily, providing better absorption over rough, rocky terrain and offering a more forgiving ride over obstacles.
- How do I know which spring rate to use for my RC crawler? — Spring rate selection depends on your specific terrain, driving style, and vehicle setup. Stiffer springs (2.0 and 1.6) work well on relatively smooth tracks or if you prefer tighter, more responsive handling. Softer springs (0.8 and 0.4) excel on technical rocky terrain with lots of obstacles, as they allow the suspension to articulate more and maintain better tyre contact. The best approach is to test different rates to find what works best for your particular conditions.
- Are these springs compatible with other RC4WD shocks besides the Rock Krawler models? — These springs are specifically engineered for RC4WD Rock Krawler 90mm shocks and RC4WD Rock Krawler RRD Emulsion Scale Dual Spring Shocks (90mm). While they may physically fit other 90mm shock absorbers, we recommend only using them with confirmed compatible models to ensure optimal performance and prevent potential damage.
- Can I mix and match different spring rates on the same vehicle? — Yes, many RC enthusiasts experiment with running different spring rates front and rear to achieve specific handling characteristics. A softer spring rate in the rear combined with a stiffer rate in the front can provide different balance and control characteristics. Experimenting with different combinations is part of the fun of scale RC crawling, and this assortment gives you plenty of options to try.
- How many springs do I get in this assortment? — You receive four springs of each rate (16 springs total), which is enough to equip one complete pair of shocks with springs of any single rate, or to create mixed setups combining different rates. This quantity allows for testing and experimentation without running short.
- What makes the colour identification system useful? — The colour marks on each spring make it incredibly easy to identify which rate you're using at a glance, without needing to measure the springs or refer to documentation. This is especially valuable when you're testing different setups or swapping springs during competition days when you need quick, reliable identification.
