Technical Performance
The HoBao Hyper VTE2 Front Shock Tower represents the pinnacle of on-road RC chassis engineering at the 1/7 scale. Manufactured from 7075 aluminium alloy, this material is specifically chosen for its outstanding strength characteristics and minimal weight penalty compared to plastic alternatives. The CNC machining process ensures that every mounting surface is perfectly flat and every hole is precisely positioned, which is absolutely critical for maintaining consistent suspension geometry and handling balance lap after lap. The 1/7 Extreme VTE2 platform is designed as a competitive on-road racing machine with geometry optimised for smooth tarmac and asphalt surfaces, and this front shock tower plays a crucial role in maintaining that precision. The tower's rigid construction helps minimise deflection during hard cornering, which translates directly to more predictable suspension behaviour and improved traction. For UK racers competing in 1/7 scale on-road championships and club racing events, upgrading to quality CNC-machined components like this shock tower is a recognised strategy for improving lap times and overall chassis performance. The precision engineering also means that this component will maintain its dimensional accuracy through countless runs, practice sessions, and competitive races, ensuring your setup remains consistent throughout a race season.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Which HoBao models is this front shock tower compatible with? — This front shock tower is designed specifically for the HoBao Extreme VTE2 platform. It is compatible with both the HB-VTE2-8 HoBao Extreme VTE2 1/8 On Road EP Roller 80% Pre-Assembled model and the HB-VTE2-V2 HoBao 1/7 Extreme VTE2-V2 On-Road Electric ARR version. The HOP-0155 designation ensures you are purchasing the correct front tower for VTE2 compatibility.
- Why is 7075 aluminium better than plastic or standard aluminium? — 7075 aluminium alloy is an aerospace-grade material that offers significantly higher strength and rigidity than standard 6061 aluminium or plastic components. This higher rigidity reduces chassis flex during hard cornering and acceleration, which directly translates to more predictable handling, better traction, and improved lap times in competitive racing. The strength also means this component will maintain its dimensional accuracy and resist bending or deformation through seasons of racing and practice sessions.
- Is CNC machining really necessary for a shock tower? — Yes, absolutely. CNC machining ensures that every mounting surface is perfectly parallel, every hole is precisely positioned, and all tolerances are held within exact specifications. This precision is essential for maintaining consistent suspension geometry, which affects how your shocks respond, how your tyres contact the track, and ultimately how quickly your car can lap. For competitive racing, even tiny variations in geometry can impact performance, which is why CNC-machined components are standard in professional racing setups.
- Can I use this as a direct replacement for a damaged stock tower? — Yes, this HOP-0155 front shock tower is designed as a genuine OEM replacement part for the VTE2 chassis. If your existing tower is damaged or worn, this CNC aluminium upgrade will not only replace the damaged component but actually improve your chassis performance thanks to the superior rigidity and precision of the aluminium construction and CNC manufacturing process.
- What is the difference between this and a plastic stock tower? — The key differences are material rigidity and precision. A plastic tower will flex more during hard cornering, which allows suspension geometry to change slightly under load and reduces predictability. This aluminium CNC tower is significantly more rigid, maintaining exact geometry regardless of driving forces, which results in more consistent handling and better lap times. The CNC machining also ensures precise tolerances that plastic injection-moulded parts cannot match, particularly in mounting hole alignment and surface flatness.
- Will upgrading to this shock tower improve my lap times? — For competitive drivers, upgrading to a quality aluminium CNC shock tower like this can deliver measurable improvements in lap time consistency and overall handling balance. The improved rigidity and precision geometry mean your suspension setup will respond more predictably, your tyres will maintain more consistent contact with the track, and your overall chassis will feel more connected. The improvement magnitude depends on your current setup and driving level, but professional and semi-professional racers consistently invest in quality components like this for competitive advantage.
