Overview

The HoBao Hyper Big Bore Shock Springs in orange are precision-engineered suspension components designed specifically for HoBao 8.5 and truggy shock systems. These high-quality springs are an essential upgrade for RC enthusiasts who demand consistent, predictable handling and improved suspension performance across a variety of terrain. Whether you're running your RC truggy on tarmac, dirt tracks, or mixed surfaces, these replacement springs deliver the tuning flexibility you need to dial in your vehicle's suspension geometry perfectly.

As a spare part for HoBao RC trucks and truggies, these big bore shock springs represent genuine OEM components from one of the most respected RC manufacturers in the world. HoBao has built a reputation for engineering excellence, and these springs exemplify that commitment to quality. If you're a competitive racer, a weekend basher, or someone who takes their RC performance seriously, having quality suspension components is non-negotiable. The orange springs provide a specific spring rate that allows you to fine-tune your suspension behaviour, which directly translates to better traction, improved cornering grip, and more predictable braking characteristics.

For UK RC enthusiasts looking to maintain or upgrade their HoBao vehicles, sourcing genuine spare parts from an authorised retailer ensures you're getting authentic components that will perform as intended. These springs are ideal for those building custom setups or replacing worn suspension components on existing vehicles. With their big bore design, they're engineered to handle the demands of serious RC driving, whether that's on a competition circuit or in your local RC park.

Key Features

  • Big Bore Design — The large bore construction provides increased internal volume and damping characteristics, which means smoother suspension action and more consistent spring behaviour throughout the entire range of suspension movement, resulting in better traction and control.
  • Spring Rate 0.5kgf/cm — This specific spring rate is medium-soft, making it suitable for general-purpose RC driving and ideal for tuning your setup for mixed terrain or standard track conditions without requiring extreme stiffness or excessive compliance.
  • 95mm Length — The 95mm dimension ensures proper fit and suspension geometry for HoBao 8.5 and truggy platforms, maintaining the correct ride height and spring preload characteristics that these vehicles are engineered for.
  • Set of Four Springs — You receive a complete set of four springs, allowing you to equip both front and rear shocks or maintain a full spare set, which is essential for serious RC enthusiasts who need backup components for competition or intensive bashing.
  • HoBao OEM Specification — These are genuine HoBao parts engineered to the manufacturer's exacting standards, ensuring compatibility and performance that matches the original factory tuning specifications for your vehicle.
  • Orange Colour Identification — The distinctive orange colour makes it easy to identify the spring rate at a glance, helping you keep track of your suspension setup and ensuring you're running the correct springs for your intended use.

Technical Performance

The HoBao Hyper Big Bore Shock Springs represent precision suspension engineering at its finest. With a spring rate of 0.5kgf/cm, these springs fall into the medium-soft category, making them versatile for various driving styles and terrain conditions. The 95mm length is specifically designed for HoBao 8.5 and truggy shock absorbers, ensuring that suspension geometry remains correct and that the vehicle maintains its intended handling characteristics. Big bore shock absorbers have become standard in serious RC racing because they offer superior damping consistency and allow for more precise tuning of vehicle behaviour. The larger bore diameter means more oil volume within the shock, which translates to better heat dissipation during extended driving sessions and more linear damping behaviour. The orange colour coding is an industry-standard practice that allows drivers to quickly identify spring rates in their workshop or pit area, reducing the risk of installing incorrect springs. These springs are constructed from high-quality spring steel, engineered to maintain their rate consistency over thousands of suspension cycles, which is critical for competitive driving where suspension feel must remain predictable. For UK RC car enthusiasts, having access to genuine OEM replacement springs ensures that when you're rebuilding shocks or upgrading suspension performance, you're using components that integrate seamlessly with HoBao's suspension engineering.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What HoBao vehicles are these shock springs compatible with? — These springs are specifically designed for HoBao 8.5 and truggy shock systems. Before purchasing, verify that your HoBao vehicle uses big bore shock absorbers and that the 95mm length matches your vehicle's specifications. If you're unsure about compatibility with your specific HoBao model, consult your vehicle's manual or contact our expert team at RC Model Shop.
  • What does the 0.5kgf/cm spring rate mean for my RC truggy performance? — The spring rate of 0.5kgf/cm is classified as medium-soft, meaning the springs compress and extend smoothly without being overly stiff or excessively soft. This rate is ideal for general driving on mixed terrain, providing good bump absorption while maintaining adequate support during aggressive cornering and braking. Stiffer springs increase responsiveness but reduce comfort; softer springs feel plush but can cause diving and rolling.
  • Why are big bore shocks better than standard shocks for RC trucks and truggies? — Big bore shock absorbers use a larger piston and bore diameter, which allows for greater oil volume inside the shock body. This larger oil volume improves heat dissipation during intense driving, providing more consistent damping performance over extended driving sessions. The bigger bore also allows for more precise tuning through oil viscosity and spring rate selection, which is why big bore shocks are preferred by competitive RC racers and serious enthusiasts.
  • Do I need four springs or can I buy them separately? — This set includes four springs, which is the correct quantity for a complete suspension setup (two front, two rear). If you only need to replace one or two springs, you could use extras as spares. However, it's generally recommended to replace springs in complete sets to maintain balanced suspension behaviour across all four corners of your vehicle.
  • What is the difference between orange spring rates and other colours? — Spring colours are industry-standard indicators of their spring rate stiffness. Orange springs at 0.5kgf/cm represent a medium-soft rate, suitable for general driving. Other colours indicate softer or stiffer rates; yellow might be softer for maximum traction, while red or green could be stiffer for higher-grip conditions. The colour system helps drivers quickly identify which springs they're using.
  • How long do shock springs typically last in RC cars? — Quality shock springs like these HoBao springs can last for thousands of suspension cycles if maintained properly. However, springs can lose their rate consistency over time or break if damaged. It's wise to keep spare springs on hand, especially for competitive driving. Regular inspection for cracks or deformation will help you know when replacement is necessary.
