Overview
The Fastrax 1:10 Crawler Slinger 1.9 Scale Tyres with Inserts represent premium rubber compound technology designed specifically for serious rock crawlers and trail vehicles. Whether you're running an FTX Outback, Carisma Scale Adventure, or any compatible 1/10 scale rock and trail vehicle, these tyres deliver the grip and durability you need for technical terrain. As an RC enthusiast in the UK looking for reliable crawler tyres, you'll appreciate that these are engineered for performance across diverse surfaces from rocky trails to muddy inclines.
Built with a special super-soft compound and integrated memory foam technology, the Crawler Slinger tyres are designed to maintain their shape and performance over extended use. The memory foam inserts work in harmony with the tyre compound to absorb impacts, reduce vibration, and provide consistent contact patch pressure on uneven surfaces. This combination makes them ideal for UK RC hobbyists who want to tackle challenging terrain without sacrificing control or experiencing premature tyre degradation. The pair comes ready to fit onto compatible 1.9-inch wheels, so you can get straight onto the trail.
Rock crawling demands tyres that can handle extreme angles, rocky obstacles, and unpredictable surfaces. The Fastrax Crawler Slinger delivers this performance level at a competitive price point. Whether you're a seasoned competitor refining your setup or a weekend basher exploring new terrains, these tyres provide the foundation for confident trail driving. Their versatility across front and rear positions means you can run the same compound throughout your vehicle for balanced performance.
Key Features
- Super-soft Rubber Compound — The specially formulated soft compound grips rocky and muddy surfaces with excellent traction, allowing your crawler to maintain purchase on technical terrain where harder compounds would simply slip. This softer material deforms around obstacles rather than bouncing off them, maximising contact area and control.
- Memory Foam Inserts — Each tyre includes integrated memory foam inserts that absorb impacts and vibrations from rough trails. This technology prevents the tyres from deflating too much under load whilst maintaining flexibility, which is critical for rock crawling where precise wheel placement and contact are essential for climbing over obstacles.
- 1.9-Inch Diameter Specification — At 118.6mm in diameter, these tyres fit the standard 1.9-inch wheel specification used across most modern 1/10 scale rock and trail vehicles. This universal sizing means they're compatible with popular crawlers from multiple manufacturers including FTX and Carisma models.
- Versatile Front and Rear Use — Unlike many speciality tyres that are directional or position-specific, the Crawler Slinger can be used in both front and rear positions, giving you flexibility in your vehicle setup and allowing you to rotate or replace pairs as needed.
- Sold as a Complete Pair — The package includes two complete tyre and insert assemblies, providing a ready-to-install solution for either an axle set or allowing you to upgrade half your vehicle's rolling stock. This pairing approach saves you purchasing separately and ensures matched performance characteristics.
- Proven Compatibility — Fastrax has engineered these tyres to work with a comprehensive range of popular crawlers including the FTX Outback Hi-Rock 4x4, Carisma Scale Adventure SCA-1E models in various configurations, and multiple other 1/10 scale platforms. This proven compatibility means you're buying a solution that has been tested and validated on real vehicles.
Technical Performance
The Fastrax Crawler Slinger tyres represent a thoughtful engineering solution for 1/10 scale rock crawling. The 118.6mm diameter and 45.6mm width dimensions provide the contact area and sidewall height necessary for technical trails, whilst remaining within the standard 1.9-inch wheel specification. The tyre width of 45.6mm provides a good balance between ground clearance and obstacle-crossing capability, allowing your crawler to negotiate tight spots whilst maintaining stability on uneven terrain. The combination of the super-soft compound with memory foam inserts creates a two-stage compliance system: the rubber grips and deforms to follow terrain contours, whilst the foam dampens shock loads that would otherwise transmit harsh impacts through your suspension. This engineering approach is particularly effective on UK-style rocky and muddy trails where sudden obstacles and variable surfaces are common. The inserts prevent tyre ballooning under load, maintaining predictable handling characteristics even when navigating severe terrain or when carrying payloads common in scale crawling scenarios. Build quality from Fastrax is consistently reliable, with attention paid to consistent compound density and insert positioning to ensure matched performance across both tyres in the pair. These are not race tyres requiring constant adjustment and maintenance, but rather robust, capable trail tyres designed for extended use without babying.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What vehicles are the Fastrax Crawler Slinger tyres compatible with? — These tyres are suitable for most 1/10 scale rock and trail vehicles. Confirmed compatibility includes the FTX Outback Hi-Rock 4x4 RTR, Carisma Scale Adventure SCA-1E Coyote Truck 2.1 RTR, Carisma Scale Adventure SCA-1E 1/10th 4WD 2.1 Mitsubishi Pajero XL-W RTR, Carisma Scale Adventure 1/10th 4WD 2.1 Bulldog RTR, and Carisma Scale Adventure SCA-1E 2.1 Ford F-150 and Toyota Tacoma models. The 1.9-inch wheel fitment means compatibility extends to many other platforms using standard 1.9-inch wheels. Always verify your specific vehicle's wheel specification before purchasing.
- Can I use these tyres on the front and rear of my RC crawler? — Yes, the Crawler Slinger tyres are not directional and can be used in both front and rear positions. This versatility means you can choose to run the same compound throughout your vehicle for balanced handling characteristics, or use them strategically to balance grip and steering feel.
- What is the benefit of the memory foam inserts? — Memory foam inserts serve multiple purposes in rock crawling tyres. They absorb impact energy from rocky terrain, reducing vibration transmitted to your vehicle's chassis and electronics. They prevent the tyre from deflating excessively under load, which maintains consistent contact patch pressure and handling feel. They also help the tyre recover to its original shape after compression, improving durability and extending the life of the rubber compound.
- Are these tyres better than harder compound alternatives? — The super-soft compound is specifically engineered for maximum traction on varied trail terrain. Harder compounds may provide longer wear life on pavement, but rock crawling demands grip above durability. The soft compound deforms to grip obstacles that harder compounds would bounce off, making it the right choice for technical trails. If you primarily bash on hard pack or gravel, you might want harder options, but for true rock crawling, soft is superior.
- How long will these tyres last? — Tyre longevity depends entirely on usage conditions. Soft compound tyres naturally wear faster than hard ones, particularly on abrasive surfaces. Rocky, wet, and muddy trails will provide longer tyre life than dry, grippy gravel. Regular inspection for cuts, chunking, or hardening is recommended. When stored properly in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, unused tyres maintain performance for extended periods.
- Do I need to balance these tyres? — Fastrax manufactures these tyres with internal balance in mind, and for 1/10 scale vehicles operating at scale speeds, balancing is not typically necessary. However, if you notice vibration or handling irregularities, your wheel or tyre may have a defect, and you should inspect and potentially replace the affected unit.
- What tools do I need to fit these tyres? — Installation onto compatible 1.9-inch wheels requires no special tools beyond what you already use for vehicle maintenance. The tyres are beadlock-ready on compatible wheels. If fitting to new wheels, follow the wheel manufacturer's instructions for tyre mounting and beadlock tightening procedures, typically using a small hex driver or screwdriver.
