Overview

The SPM 9g Mini Servo 400mm Servo Lead is a compact sub-micro servo from Spektrum, designed for RC modellers who demand precision control in lightweight applications. Whether you're building a small-scale RC plane, FPV drone, or micro RC car, this 9-gram servo delivers reliable performance in a package that won't add unnecessary weight to your model. With a generous 400mm servo lead, you'll have the flexibility to position this servo exactly where you need it in your RC setup, making it ideal for both beginners exploring the world of RC hobby in the UK and experienced enthusiasts seeking dependable micro servo solutions.

Spektrum is renowned for manufacturing quality RC electronics and accessories, and this sub-micro servo is no exception. It has earned a solid 4.5 out of 5 customer rating, reflecting the confidence that RC modellers across the UK place in this compact control unit. The extended servo lead is particularly valuable when you need to route cables through tight spaces or mount your servo away from your receiver, a common requirement in space-constrained RC applications.

This servo represents excellent value for the precision-minded RC enthusiast. Whether you're upgrading an existing micro RC model or starting fresh with a new build, the SPM 9g Mini Servo offers the reliability and compact form factor that modern RC hobby demands. Available now through RC Model Shop, this is an essential component for anyone serious about maintaining control of their smallest and most delicate RC projects.

Key Features

  • 9-gram weight specification — At just 9 grams, this sub-micro servo adds minimal mass to your RC model, which is critical for maintaining optimal weight distribution and flight or handling characteristics in lightweight aircraft, FPV applications, and micro-scale RC vehicles.
  • 400mm extended servo lead — The generous 400mm servo lead provides exceptional routing flexibility, allowing you to position the servo motor away from your receiver and eliminate the need for expensive servo lead extension cables that can introduce signal degradation or additional complexity to your RC setup.
  • Sub-micro servo classification — This servo is specifically engineered for micro-scale applications where space and weight are at a premium, making it perfect for small RC planes, ultra-light quadcopters, and compact RC cars where standard-sized servos simply won't fit.
  • Spektrum brand reliability — Manufactured by Spektrum, a trusted name in RC electronics and components, this servo benefits from rigorous quality control and engineering standards that ensure consistent performance across all units.
  • 4.5-star customer rating — The strong customer feedback rating demonstrates real-world reliability and satisfaction from RC modellers who have integrated this servo into their projects, giving you confidence in your purchase decision.

Technical Performance

The SPM 9g Mini Servo is engineered as a sub-micro servo specifically designed for weight-conscious RC applications where every gram matters. With a total weight of just 9 grams and dimensions of 4.4 inches in length, 2.2 inches in width, and 0.57 inches in height, this servo delivers a compact footprint that opens up new possibilities for micro-scale RC builds. The 400mm servo lead—measuring approximately 16 inches—provides significant routing advantages, allowing you to install the servo mechanism in one location whilst controlling it from a receiver mounted elsewhere in your airframe or chassis. This extended lead length is particularly valuable in tight airframes where you need to separate control components to optimise weight distribution and cable management. The servo's construction reflects Spektrum's commitment to reliability in RC electronics, with precision engineering designed to handle the demands of modern RC hobby applications. Whether you're building a foam park flyer, an FPV racing drone, a micro RC car, or any other weight-sensitive project, this servo provides the control authority you need without compromising your model's performance envelope.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is a sub-micro servo and why would I need one? — A sub-micro servo is an extremely compact servo motor designed for lightweight RC applications where space and weight are critical factors. You'd need one for small RC planes, FPV drones, micro RC cars, or any build where standard servos would be too heavy or too large to fit properly.
  • How long is the servo lead on this Spektrum servo? — The servo lead measures 400mm in length, which is approximately 16 inches. This extended lead gives you flexibility in servo placement and eliminates the need for expensive servo lead extensions that could introduce signal issues.
  • Is this servo suitable for beginners in the RC hobby? — Yes, this servo is suitable for beginners, particularly those working on micro-scale RC projects or building small aircraft and drones. The straightforward plug-and-play design means you can integrate it directly into any compatible Spektrum RC receiver without special modifications.
  • What receiver systems is this servo compatible with? — This servo works with any standard Spektrum RC receiver that features micro servo connectors. Check your receiver documentation to ensure compatibility with this sub-micro servo form factor.
  • Does this servo require any special power supply or battery? — This servo operates on standard RC servo power voltages. Consult your receiver and battery system documentation to ensure your power supply meets the servo's requirements, though most modern RC systems will power this servo without issue.
  • How does the 400mm servo lead compare to standard servos? — Standard servo leads typically measure between 150-200mm. The 400mm lead on this servo provides significantly more routing flexibility, allowing you to mount the servo in locations where standard servos would require extension cables, saving money and eliminating potential signal degradation.
