Manufactured by Team Corally using advanced CNC machinery, this pinion gear is engineered to deliver vibration-free operation and unparalleled reliability. The 48 DP (Diametral Pitch) specification means this gear is part of a comprehensive gearing ecosystem, allowing you to fine-tune your RC car's performance by selecting from a complete range of compatible pinion and spur gear combinations. Available in multiple tooth counts, the 26-tooth configuration provides a specific gear ratio that will suit particular track conditions and driving styles, making it an essential component for those looking to optimise their RC racing performance or improve their ready to run RC setup.

Every pinion gear in this range is individually marked with the tooth count for quick and easy identification, eliminating confusion during setup changes or maintenance. This attention to detail, combined with European manufacturing standards and rigorous quality control, ensures that when you purchase from RC Model Shop, you're investing in a component that will deliver season after season of reliable service in your RC car.

Key Features

  • Special Hardened Steel Construction — The pinion is manufactured from specially hardened steel that provides exceptional toughness and durability, meaning it will withstand repeated engagement with your spur gear without stripping teeth or wearing prematurely, even under the extreme loads of competitive RC racing.
  • CNC Cut Teeth for Perfect Shape and Concentricity — Each tooth is precision-cut using computer numerical control machinery, ensuring absolutely perfect tooth geometry and concentricity, which translates directly to smoother power delivery, reduced vibration, and longer gear lifespan compared to lesser quality pinions.
  • Ultra-Precise Tooth Shaping — The advanced manufacturing process creates ultra-precise tooth profiles that mesh perfectly with compatible spur gears, eliminating the binding and friction that can plague inferior pinions and robbing your RC car of performance.
  • Ultra-True Running for Vibration-Free Operation — Manufacturing tolerances are held to exceptional standards, ensuring the pinion runs perfectly true with zero wobble or runout, which means your RC vehicle will operate with minimal vibration, better handling characteristics, and improved overall efficiency.
  • 5mm Motor Shaft Compatibility — The short version design features a 5mm bore diameter specifically engineered for standard 5mm motor shafts, making it compatible with a vast range of brushless and brushed RC motors used in modern electric RC vehicles.
  • 48 DP Module Rating — The 48 Diametral Pitch specification places this pinion in the standard gearing ecosystem used by serious RC racers and enthusiasts, with a complete range of matching spur gears available to dial in your exact gear ratio requirements.
  • 26-Tooth Configuration — The 26-tooth count provides a specific gear ratio within the 48 DP range, offering users a particular performance profile that suits specific track conditions and racing styles when paired with appropriate spur gears.
  • Short Version Design — The compact short-version pinion geometry minimises weight and provides excellent clearance in tight motor mounts, whilst maintaining the full strength and durability needed for sustained RC racing and bashing applications.
  • Easy Identification Marking — Each pinion is laser-marked with its tooth number, allowing you to quickly and accurately identify your gears during setup changes, maintenance, or when building multiple vehicle configurations.
  • European Manufacturing Quality — Manufactured in Europe to exacting standards, this Corally component benefits from decades of precision engineering expertise and rigorous quality control protocols.

Technical Performance

The Corally 48 DP Pinion represents a significant investment in precision manufacturing and materials engineering. The special hardened steel used in this pinion's construction is significantly more durable than standard steel alternatives, providing a substantially longer service life when subjected to the repeated shock loads and high-speed engagement cycles typical in modern RC racing. The 26-tooth configuration, combined with the 48 DP module rating, places this pinion in the high-performance segment of the gearing spectrum. When paired with appropriate 48 DP spur gears, this pinion will deliver the precise gear ratios needed to optimise vehicle performance across different track layouts and conditions. The 5mm motor shaft diameter accommodates the vast majority of contemporary electric RC motors, including brushless motors of varying sizes and KV ratings. The short version design minimises rotational inertia, improving throttle response and overall drivetrain efficiency. Manufacturing tolerances are held to extremely tight specifications — the teeth width measures precisely 6.20mm, the overall gear length is 13.00mm, and the bore diameter is exactly 5mm — ensuring perfect mesh with compatible spur gears. The CNC-cut tooth geometry means that meshing is smooth and consistent, minimising power losses that would otherwise be dissipated as heat and vibration. Installation is straightforward via a standard 2.0mm hex key for the set screw, allowing you to swap pinions quickly when testing different gear ratios. Whether you're running a 2S, 3S, 4S or higher voltage brushless system, this pinion will perform equally well, as its performance is entirely independent of electrical specifications and depends solely on mechanical precision and material quality.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What does 48 DP mean and why is it important? — DP stands for Diametral Pitch, a standard measurement used in gear engineering worldwide. 48 DP is one of the most common standards in RC racing, meaning this pinion will mesh perfectly with any other 48 DP gear component. This standardisation allows you to build complete drivetrain systems using gears from multiple manufacturers, giving you maximum flexibility in dialling in your exact gear ratio requirements.
  • Is the Corally 48 DP Pinion suitable for beginners? — Yes, whilst this pinion is premium-quality, it is suitable for any RC enthusiast running a 5mm motor shaft drivetrain. Beginners using ready to run RC vehicles with 48 DP drivetrains will benefit enormously from the durability and reliability of this component. However, beginners should first check their vehicle's original pinion tooth count and gear specification to ensure compatibility before purchasing.
  • What is the 26-tooth specification and when would I use it? — The 26-tooth count is a specific gear ratio option within the 48 DP ecosystem. Different tooth counts provide different gear ratios — higher tooth counts create lower gearing (more acceleration, lower top speed), whilst lower tooth counts create higher gearing (less acceleration, higher top speed). The 26-tooth pinion suits moderate-speed applications and provides a good balance between acceleration and top-end performance on most track layouts.
  • How does hardened steel compare to standard steel pinions? — Hardened steel is specially treated to increase its hardness and durability, making it far more resistant to tooth stripping, wear, and deformation under the high stresses of RC racing. Standard steel pinions will wear faster and may fail suddenly under extreme loads, whilst this hardened steel pinion will maintain its tooth profile and performance for significantly longer, making it excellent value despite the slightly higher initial cost.
  • Can I use this pinion with my brushless RC motor? — Yes, this pinion is completely compatible with brushless motors. The 5mm bore diameter accommodates all standard brushless motor shafts, and the pinion's performance is independent of whether your motor is brushed or brushless — the engagement quality and durability remain identical.
  • What is the difference between the short version and other pinion lengths? — The short version design minimises the overall length of the pinion gear, reducing rotational inertia and providing excellent clearance in tight motor mount spaces common in modern RC car designs. This translates to quicker throttle response and improved efficiency compared to longer pinion designs, whilst maintaining full strength and durability.
  • How do I install this pinion? — Installation is straightforward: the pinion slips onto your motor's 5mm shaft and is secured with a set screw using a 2.0mm hex key. Most RC enthusiasts can complete pinion changes in under five minutes, making it easy to test different gear ratios at the track.
