Overview
The Team Corally 48 DP Pinion Short Hardened Steel 25 Teeth 5MM (C-72425) is a premium-grade pinion gear engineered for serious RC enthusiasts who demand precision, durability and reliability in their drivetrain components. Whether you're running an electric RC car, buggy, truck or other scale model powered by a motor with a 5mm shaft, this pinion gear represents the gold standard in performance-oriented gearing solutions available to RC hobbyists across the UK and beyond. Team Corally's reputation for manufacturing components that deliver uncompromising quality makes this 25-tooth pinion an essential upgrade or replacement part for anyone serious about maximising their RC car's performance on the track.
This is not a budget option – it's a precision engineering component built to the exacting standards demanded by competitive RC racers, weekend bashers and collectors alike. The 48 DP (diametral pitch) specification makes this pinion suitable for a wide range of RC applications, and the 25-tooth configuration provides a specific gear ratio that many builders prefer when balancing acceleration and top speed. If you're searching for high-quality pinion gears for your RC car, RC buggy, or other RC vehicle, you've found the right component. Team Corally's hardened steel construction ensures this pinion will withstand thousands of acceleration cycles without stripping, cracking or wearing down prematurely – a critical concern for anyone who has experienced drivetrain failure during a crucial race or bash session.
Built in Europe using CNC precision manufacturing and special heat-treatment processes, this pinion gear represents the pinnacle of what's possible in aftermarket RC drivetrain components. Every tooth is cut with absolute precision, every dimension is held to exacting tolerances, and every gear is individually marked for easy identification and quick reference during your setup work.
Key Features
- Hardened Steel Construction — Unlike standard plastic or softer metal pinions, this gear is manufactured from special hardened steel that has been heat-treated to resist wear, deformation and stripping even under extreme load conditions, ensuring your RC car maintains consistent performance throughout a long day of racing or bashing.
- CNC Cut Teeth with Perfect Concentricity — Every tooth on this pinion is cut on a dedicated CNC gear machine to ensure ultra-precise tooth geometry and shape, which delivers vibration-free operation and absolute concentricity that lesser-quality gears simply cannot match.
- 48 DP Module Rating — The 48 diametral pitch specification positions this pinion in the precision category of RC gearing, making it compatible with other high-quality 48 DP components and allowing you to fine-tune your gear ratio with precision across a range of tooth counts.
- 25 Teeth Configuration — The 25-tooth count provides a balanced approach to gearing, offering competitive performance that many RC racers and bashers prefer when they're seeking a midpoint between pure acceleration and sustained top-end speed.
- Short Version Design — The compact short version profile reduces weight and rotational mass compared to longer pinion designs, contributing to quicker throttle response and more efficient power delivery to your RC vehicle's drivetrain.
- 5MM Motor Shaft Compatibility — Specifically designed to fit motors with standard 5mm diameter shafts, this pinion integrates seamlessly with a huge range of popular electric RC motors used in modern RC buggies, trucks, crawlers and competitive racing platforms.
- Made in Europe — Team Corally manufactures this component in Europe to strict quality standards, ensuring consistency, reliability and attention to detail that reflects the brand's commitment to excellence in the RC hobby.
- Individual Tooth Number Marking — Each pinion is clearly marked with its tooth count for instant identification, eliminating confusion when you're building multiple gear configurations or managing a collection of spare parts.
- Ultra-True Running — The precision manufacturing process ensures absolute true running, meaning zero wobble or run-out that could introduce vibration, noise or inefficiency into your RC car's drivetrain during high-speed operation.
Technical Performance
The engineering excellence embedded in this Team Corally pinion gear becomes evident the moment you examine the component. The special hardened steel material has been selected and heat-treated specifically to withstand the forces generated by modern brushless RC motors and high-performance gearboxes. The 48 DP specification places this in the precision segment of the RC market – these are the gears used by competitive racers who understand that drivetrain efficiency directly correlates to lap times and race results. The 25-tooth count delivers a gear ratio that suits many popular RC cars, buggies and trucks, whether powered by brushless or brushed electric motors. The short version profile minimises weight while maintaining structural integrity, contributing to improved acceleration characteristics and quicker motor response. The 6.2mm teeth width ensures adequate surface area for load distribution, while the 13mm overall gear length maintains the compact profile essential for modern RC vehicle chassis design. With a 5mm bore diameter, this pinion fits the vast majority of contemporary electric RC motors, making it an ideal upgrade component or replacement gear for your existing collection. The CNC-cut teeth profile ensures mesh accuracy with spur gears, translating to quieter, smoother operation and more efficient power transmission compared to hand-cut or less precisely manufactured alternatives. Whether you're setting up a new RC car, upgrading your existing gearing package, or replacing a worn component, this pinion represents a significant step forward in drivetrain quality and performance.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the difference between this 25-tooth pinion and other tooth counts in the 48 DP range? — The number of teeth on a pinion gear directly affects your RC vehicle's gear ratio and performance characteristics. This 25-tooth version provides a balanced setup; choosing fewer teeth (like 19 or 21T) gives more acceleration but lower top speed, whilst more teeth (27T or 29T) increase top speed at the expense of acceleration. The 25T represents a middle ground that suits many drivers and track conditions.
- Why is hardened steel better than plastic or standard metal pinions? — Hardened steel resists wear far more effectively than plastic or untreated metals, meaning this pinion will maintain its tooth profile and performance characteristics through hundreds or thousands of acceleration cycles without stripping, cracking or deforming – critical for competitive RC racing where gear failure can cost you races.
- Is this suitable for beginners? — This is a precision component best suited to intermediate and advanced RC enthusiasts who understand drivetrain setup and gear ratios. Whilst beginners can certainly use this pinion, they may benefit more from starting with a complete RTR RC car package that comes with matched gearing. However, if you're upgrading your existing RC car or building a custom setup, this is an excellent choice regardless of experience level.
- What motor shafts does this pinion fit? — This pinion is specifically designed for 5mm diameter motor shafts, which is the standard size used on most modern electric RC motors ranging from small brushless units to larger racing motors. Check your current motor's shaft diameter before purchasing to ensure compatibility.
- How do I know what gear ratio I need? — Gear ratio is determined by dividing the spur gear tooth count by the pinion tooth count. For example, if you're using this 25T pinion with a 65T spur gear, your ratio would be 2.6:1. Lower ratios favour acceleration, higher ratios favour top speed. Consult your RC car's manual or join online RC communities to find proven setups for your specific vehicle and track conditions.
- Can I use this pinion with any 48 DP spur gear? — Yes, this pinion is compatible with any quality 48 DP spur gear, giving you flexibility to fine-tune your gear ratio by selecting different tooth counts. However, always ensure your spur gear matches the 48 DP specification for proper mesh and performance.
- What makes Team Corally pinions different from cheaper alternatives? — Team Corally's commitment to precision manufacturing using CNC machinery, special hardened steel, European production, and rigorous quality control results in gears that mesh more smoothly, run with less vibration, and maintain their tooth profile longer than budget alternatives. For serious RC enthusiasts, this investment pays dividends in performance and reliability.
- How do I install this pinion on my motor? — Installation is straightforward: remove your motor's current pinion (usually held with a small hex socket or setscrew), slide this new pinion onto your motor shaft, and secure it using the appropriate fastener. Most motors use a 2.0mm hex key setscrew, which matches the specification for this pinion. Ensure the pinion is positioned to mesh properly with your spur gear before tightening completely.
