Whether you're a competitive racer fine-tuning your RC buggy or a weekend basher looking to optimise your vehicle's performance, this high-quality pinion gear represents the perfect choice for upgrading your drivetrain. Team Corally has built a reputation for manufacturing competition-grade RC components, and this pinion gear exemplifies their commitment to precision engineering and durability.

This 11-tooth pinion is manufactured from special hardened steel and features CNC-cut teeth for perfect tooth shape and concentricity. It's compatible with all RC cars that use M0.6 module gears, particularly Tamiya models and other vehicles with 3.17mm motor shafts. The gear is made in Europe to the highest standards, ensuring that every tooth is precisely shaped and every component runs true without vibration. If you're upgrading your RC car UK setup or building a competition-grade machine, this pinion gear delivers the performance and longevity you need.

Available in a range of tooth counts, the Corally M0.6 pinion system allows you to find the perfect gear ratio for any track condition or driving style. Whether you need more acceleration or top-end speed, changing pinion teeth counts is one of the most effective tuning options for RC vehicles. Each pinion is clearly marked with the tooth number for quick and easy identification, making it simple to swap gears between different setups or track conditions.

Key Features

  • Special Hardened Steel Construction — The pinion is manufactured from specially hardened steel that provides exceptional toughness and durability, resisting wear and deformation even under extreme racing conditions or heavy bashing. This material choice ensures your investment lasts through countless hours of RC driving.
  • CNC-Cut Teeth with Perfect Concentricity — Every tooth is precisely machined on a special gear machine, guaranteeing ultra-precise tooth shaping and perfect concentricity. This attention to precision means vibration-free operation and smoother power delivery to the wheels, translating to better handling and more consistent performance on the track.
  • Module M0.6 Specification — This pinion uses M0.6 module gearing, making it compatible with a wide range of RC vehicles, particularly Tamiya models and other cars designed for this standard gear pitch. This compatibility ensures you can easily upgrade your existing RC car without requiring a complete drivetrain overhaul.
  • 11-Tooth Configuration — The 11-tooth design offers a balanced gear ratio suitable for a variety of driving conditions and track types. This tooth count is a popular choice for RC cars seeking a compromise between acceleration and top speed.
  • 3.17mm Motor Shaft Compatibility — The pinion is designed to fit motor shafts with a 3.17mm diameter, a standard specification found on many brushless and brushed RC motors. This universal fit means it will work with the majority of modern RC car motors available on the UK market.
  • Compact Short Design — The short pinion design with a 9mm gear length and 4mm teeth width provides excellent mesh characteristics and reduces overall drivetrain size, allowing for more compact motor mounting solutions and potentially improved weight distribution in your RC car.
  • Easy Identification — Each pinion is marked with its tooth number, making it incredibly easy to identify which gear you're using and simplifying gear changes when you're testing different setups or preparing your RC car for different track conditions.
  • European Manufacturing — Manufactured in Europe to exacting quality standards, this pinion represents quality craftsmanship and rigorous quality control, ensuring consistency and reliability across every unit.
  • Precise 1.5mm Hex Key Fitting — The pinion uses a standard 1.5mm hex key for installation and removal, making it simple to change gears quickly without requiring specialised tools. This standardised approach is ideal for UK RC car builders who want quick setup changes.
  • Unparalleled Concentricity — The manufacturing process ensures that the pinion runs perfectly true, minimising runout and vibration during operation. This precision translates to smoother acceleration, better traction control, and improved overall RC car handling characteristics.

Technical Performance

The Corally M0.6 Pinion Short Hardened Steel 11 Teeth represents the pinnacle of precision gear manufacturing for RC applications. Built from specially formulated hardened steel rather than standard materials, this pinion delivers superior wear resistance and dimensional stability compared to inferior alternatives. The CNC cutting process creates teeth with flawless geometry, ensuring that mesh with spur gears is perfectly smooth and efficient, minimising energy loss and maximising power transfer from motor to wheels. The 9mm length with 4mm tooth width provides an optimal balance between strength and lightness, creating a gear that can handle aggressive acceleration whilst remaining compact enough for tight motor mounting spaces found in modern RC chassis designs. With a 3.17mm motor shaft bore, this pinion accommodates the vast majority of contemporary brushless and brushed RC motors, including those found in popular Tamiya vehicles and other M0.6-equipped RC cars. The ultra-true running characteristics of this precision-engineered component eliminate vibration that would otherwise cause inefficiency, driveline noise, and accelerated wear on interconnected drivetrain components. Whether you're running this pinion in a competitive racing scenario, high-speed track bashing, or casual weekend RC driving, the engineering excellence embedded in its design ensures consistent, reliable performance across all conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the difference between an 11-tooth and a 12-tooth pinion for my RC car? — Tooth count directly affects your vehicle's gear ratio. An 11-tooth pinion provides more aggressive acceleration but slightly lower top speed compared to a 12-tooth pinion. The 11-tooth configuration is ideal for tracks requiring quick acceleration and tight cornering, whilst higher tooth counts favour high-speed straights. Changing pinion teeth is one of the most effective tuning methods for RC cars in the UK.
  • Is this pinion compatible with my Tamiya RC car? — Yes, this Corally M0.6 pinion is specifically designed to fit all RC cars equipped with M0.6 gearing, which is the standard module used in Tamiya vehicles with 3.17mm motor shafts. Before purchasing, verify your existing motor shaft diameter matches the 3.17mm specification.
  • What motor shaft diameter does this pinion require? — This pinion is designed exclusively for 3.17mm motor shafts, which is a standard size found on many brushless and brushed RC motors. This diameter is common across most modern RC car motors available through UK RC retailers.
  • Why is this pinion made from hardened steel? — Hardened steel provides significantly greater durability and wear resistance compared to standard steel or aluminium pinions. The hardening process increases the material's tensile strength, allowing it to withstand the enormous forces generated during acceleration and deceleration without distorting or stripping teeth. For serious RC enthusiasts who run frequently, hardened steel pinions represent a worthwhile investment that will outlast softer alternatives.
  • How do I install this pinion on my RC car? — Installation requires removing your existing pinion using a 1.5mm hex key, then sliding the new Corally pinion onto your motor shaft. Ensure the pinion meshes correctly with your spur gear before tightening the set screw securely. Most RC car manuals provide detailed installation instructions, and many UK RC hobby shops offer installation assistance.
  • What is gear ratio and how does the 11-tooth pinion affect it? — Gear ratio is calculated by dividing the number of spur gear teeth by the number of pinion teeth. With an 11-tooth pinion, a smaller ratio produces higher acceleration and lower top speed, whilst a larger ratio does the opposite. Testing different pinion tooth counts is the most effective way to find the optimal setup for your specific track and driving style.
  • Can I use this pinion with electric brushless motors? — Absolutely. This pinion is compatible with any brushless or brushed RC motor featuring a 3.17mm shaft diameter, including modern high-performance brushless motors commonly used in UK RC racing and bashing.
  • Why does concentricity matter in RC pinion gears? — Perfect concentricity means the pinion's teeth are perfectly centred on the shaft with zero runout. This eliminates vibration during operation, ensures smooth power delivery, and dramatically extends the lifespan of both the pinion and meshed spur gear by distributing forces evenly across all teeth.
