Key Features

  • Special Hardened Steel Construction — This pinion is manufactured from specially formulated hardened steel that provides exceptional toughness and durability, ensuring the gear can withstand the demanding forces of acceleration, braking and continuous operation without premature wear or tooth stripping.
  • CNC-Cut Teeth with Perfect Concentricity — Every tooth is cut using precision CNC machinery that guarantees perfect tooth shape and precise concentricity, meaning the gear runs true and eliminates vibration that would otherwise compromise handling and speed consistency in your RC car.
  • Ultra-Precise Tooth Shaping — The advanced manufacturing process creates ultra-precise tooth profiles that mesh perfectly with your spur gear, delivering smooth power transmission and reducing energy loss through friction, resulting in better acceleration and overall efficiency.
  • Ultra-True Running for Vibration-Free Operation — Due to its exceptional precision and concentricity, this pinion runs with remarkable smoothness, eliminating the vibration that can damage other components and affect driver feedback—critical for both racing and recreational driving.
  • M0.6 Module Specification — This pinion features M0.6 (metric 0.6) gear pitch, making it compatible with the entire range of Tamiya RC cars and other vehicles designed for M0.6 gearing systems, giving you flexibility in your gear ratio selection.
  • 15-Tooth Configuration — The 15-tooth count provides a balanced gear ratio option that suits mid-range performance setups, offering a good compromise between acceleration and top speed for general-purpose RC driving.
  • 3.17mm Motor Shaft Compatibility — Designed specifically for 3.17mm motor shafts (the standard size found on most Tamiya motors and similar RC car motors), ensuring perfect fitment without wobbling or misalignment.
  • Easy Identification Marking — Each pinion is clearly marked with the tooth number, allowing you to quickly and easily identify the correct gear during assembly or maintenance, saving time and eliminating confusion.
  • European Manufacturing Quality — Manufactured in Europe to exacting standards, this Corally component reflects the quality control and precision engineering that European RC manufacturers are known for, giving you confidence in reliability.
  • Available in Complete Gearing Range — Corally produces M0.6 pinions in all tooth counts, so you can easily find the perfect gear ratio for your specific track conditions, driving style, and performance goals.

Technical Performance

The C-71615 represents the cutting edge of gear manufacturing technology for RC cars in the UK market. Built from special hardened steel, this component has been engineered to handle the rigorous demands of both competitive racing and casual bashing. The CNC manufacturing process ensures that every tooth is cut to perfection, with tolerances so tight that the resulting concentricity is virtually unmatched in aftermarket gearing. The 15-tooth count at M0.6 module provides a versatile gear ratio suitable for a wide variety of driving conditions and motor combinations. With a shaft diameter of exactly 3.17mm, the pinion fits securely onto standard Tamiya and compatible motor shafts, and the 4mm teeth width ensures sufficient tooth engagement for reliable torque transmission. The overall gear length of 9mm makes it a short-format pinion, ideal for setups where space is at a premium. The 1.5mm hex key size for any associated fasteners reflects precision engineering throughout. Whether you're running a brushless or brushed motor, the precision of this pinion ensures consistent meshing with your spur gear, translating motor power into smooth, efficient drivetrain performance without the vibration and noise associated with lesser-quality gears. For RC enthusiasts in the UK who understand that gearing is fundamental to vehicle performance, the Corally M0.6 pinion represents an investment in reliability and precision.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is a pinion gear and why does it matter in my RC car? — A pinion gear is the small gear that mounts directly onto your motor shaft and meshes with the larger spur gear in your RC car's drivetrain. It's crucial because it transfers power from the motor to the rest of the drivetrain, and the tooth count determines your gear ratio, which directly affects your car's acceleration and top speed. A quality pinion like the Corally C-71615 ensures smooth, efficient power transfer without vibration or tooth slipping.
  • Will this pinion fit my RC car? — The C-71615 will fit any RC car designed for M0.6 gearing with a motor shaft diameter of 3.17mm. This includes Tamiya models and many other popular RC cars that use the M0.6 module specification. If you're unsure about your car's gearing system, check your vehicle's manual or contact our expert team at RC Model Shop, and we'll help you identify the correct component.
  • What is the difference between a 15-tooth pinion and other tooth counts? — The tooth count on a pinion determines the gear ratio between the motor and the wheels. A 15-tooth pinion is a mid-range option: fewer teeth (like 13T) would provide faster acceleration and lower top speed, whilst more teeth (like 17T or 19T) would provide higher top speed but require more torque from your motor. The 15T is versatile and suits a wide range of driving styles and conditions.
  • Why is this pinion more expensive than budget alternatives? — The Corally C-71615 is manufactured from special hardened steel and precision-cut using CNC machinery to guarantee perfect tooth shape and concentricity. Budget pinions often have manufacturing tolerances that introduce vibration, noise, and uneven wear. The investment in a quality Corally pinion pays dividends through smoother operation, longer component life, and better overall vehicle performance. For serious RC enthusiasts in the UK, the superior engineering is worth every penny.
  • Is this suitable for beginners? — Whilst this is a high-quality component, it's a replacement or upgrade part rather than a complete kit. Beginners would typically purchase a ready-to-run RC car that already includes gearing. However, if you're a beginner looking to upgrade your existing car's drivetrain or replace a worn pinion, this Corally component is an excellent choice because its precision makes setup straightforward and reliable.
  • How often do I need to replace a pinion gear? — With proper maintenance and the quality of this Corally product, your pinion should last many hours of driving. Replacement is typically needed only if the teeth become stripped, chipped, or excessively worn, or if you're changing your vehicle's gear ratio to suit different track conditions or driving goals.
  • What tools do I need to install this pinion? — You'll need a 1.5mm hex key to secure any fasteners associated with the pinion. Installation is straightforward: remove your old pinion from the motor shaft (typically using a pinion puller), slide this new one onto the shaft, and secure it with the appropriate grub screw or pin. Most RC enthusiasts find the installation takes just a few minutes.
