Overview

The Corally M0.6 Pinion Short Hardened Steel 13 Teeth Shaft Dia. 3.17mm (C-71613) is a premium replacement gear designed for RC enthusiasts in the UK who demand precision engineering and exceptional durability. Whether you're upgrading your existing RC car or building a high-performance setup, this pinion gear offers the reliability and consistency needed to keep your RC model running at peak efficiency. Team Corally has established themselves as a trusted manufacturer of high-quality RC components, and this pinion exemplifies their commitment to excellence in every detail.

This short pinion gear is specifically engineered for RC cars that use M0.6 module gears, most commonly found in Tamiya RC vehicles and compatible models. The 13-tooth configuration provides an excellent balance between acceleration and top speed, making it suitable for a wide range of driving styles and track conditions. Whether you're enjoying recreational bashing at the local track or competing seriously in RC competitions across the UK, having the right gear ratio is crucial to maximising your vehicle's performance.

As an RC model shop UK customer, you'll appreciate that this component represents exceptional value for money when you consider the engineering quality involved. The precision manufacturing process ensures that your RC car will run smoother and more reliably than ever before, reducing vibration and wear on your motor while delivering consistent performance lap after lap.

Key Features

  • Special Hardened Steel Construction — This pinion is manufactured from specially treated hardened steel rather than standard aluminium, which dramatically increases its durability and resistance to wear, particularly important if you're driving in demanding conditions or pushing your RC car to its limits regularly.
  • CNC Cut Teeth for Perfect Precision — Each tooth is precisely cut using advanced CNC machinery to create perfect tooth geometry and concentricity, which means smoother meshing with your spur gear and significantly reduced vibration during operation, translating to faster lap times and less mechanical stress on your drivetrain.
  • Ultra-True Running for Vibration-Free Operation — The manufacturing process creates gears that run with exceptional balance, eliminating the micro-vibrations that can slow your RC car down and cause premature wear to bearings and other drivetrain components.
  • Module M0.6 Compatibility — This gear is designed to work with all M0.6 module gears, making it universally compatible with Tamiya RC cars and other vehicles that use this common gearing standard, giving you flexibility in your RC setup choices.
  • Fits 3.17mm Motor Shafts — The 3.17mm diameter motor shaft fitting is a standard size used in many popular RC car motors, ensuring this pinion will work with your existing motor without requiring additional adapters or modifications.
  • Clearly Marked Tooth Count — Each pinion is clearly marked with the tooth number (13T in this case), making it incredibly easy to identify at a glance and preventing the frustration of mixing up different gear ratios during setup or maintenance.
  • 13-Tooth Gear Ratio — The 13-tooth count offers an ideal balance for most RC car applications, providing responsive acceleration while maintaining a reasonable top speed, making it a sensible all-around choice for drivers who want versatility.
  • Made in Europe — This pinion is manufactured in Europe to strict quality standards, ensuring consistency and reliability in every single unit you purchase from RC Model Shop.
  • Compact Short Design — The short pinion length (9mm) keeps weight to a minimum while providing sufficient tooth engagement with your spur gear, which is important for maintaining a lightweight RC setup.

Technical Performance

The Corally M0.6 Pinion represents the pinnacle of precision engineering in aftermarket RC components. Built from hardened steel rather than the softer aluminium used in budget alternatives, this pinion delivers superior durability that becomes immediately apparent when you feel how smoothly your RC car accelerates. The hardened steel material is scientifically treated to increase its hardness and wear resistance, meaning this pinion will maintain its perfect tooth geometry far longer than standard gears, even under intense racing conditions with repeated acceleration and deceleration cycles. The CNC cutting process is where the real magic happens — each tooth is shaped with tolerances measured in fractions of a millimetre, ensuring that when the pinion meshes with your spur gear, there is zero play and maximum efficiency in power transmission. This level of precision directly translates to more of your motor's power reaching the wheels of your RC car, rather than being lost to friction and heat in the gearbox. The ultra-precise manufacturing also means your RC car will run with noticeably less vibration, which improves handling, reduces noise, and minimises stress on bearings and motor shafts. For the serious RC enthusiast in the UK who demands consistent performance, this pinion is an investment that pays dividends every single time you take your car to the track or field. The 13-tooth specification with M0.6 module sizing is ideal for general-purpose RC applications, whether you're driving on asphalt, carpet, or outdoor dirt surfaces.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Will this pinion fit my Tamiya RC car? — Yes, this pinion is specifically designed to fit all Tamiya RC cars that use M0.6 module gears, and the 3.17mm motor shaft diameter is the standard size used in most Tamiya RC vehicles. Simply measure your current pinion to confirm it has an M0.6 module and 3.17mm shaft hole before ordering.
  • What is the difference between 13-tooth and other pinion sizes? — The tooth count directly affects your gear ratio and vehicle performance. A 13-tooth pinion provides a balanced setup suitable for most driving conditions. Higher tooth counts (like 15T or 16T) will give you more top speed but less acceleration, whilst lower tooth counts (like 12T or 11T) will increase acceleration but reduce maximum speed. The 13T is considered the sweet spot for general RC driving.
  • Why is hardened steel better than aluminium? — Hardened steel pinions maintain their precise tooth shape much longer than aluminium alternatives, meaning your RC car will run smoothly and efficiently for many more operating hours. Steel also resists damage better if you accidentally crash or run over debris, making it a more durable long-term investment for serious RC drivers.
  • How do I know when to replace my pinion gear? — You should inspect your pinion regularly for signs of tooth wear or damage. If you notice increased noise, vibration, or loss of performance, it's time for a replacement. The hardened steel construction of this Corally pinion means you'll get more hours of use before needing to replace it compared to standard gears.
  • Is this suitable for beginners? — Absolutely. This is a straightforward replacement component that any RC car owner can install. If you're new to RC hobby in the UK, having quality components like this pinion from the start ensures your car performs reliably and teaches you good habits about maintaining properly engineered equipment. No special tools are required beyond a 1.5mm hex key.
  • Will upgrading to this pinion make a noticeable difference? — Yes, many RC drivers report noticeably smoother acceleration and reduced drivetrain noise when upgrading to precision-cut Corally pinions. The reduction in vibration and friction means your motor runs more efficiently, potentially even improving runtime on a given battery charge.
