Key Features

  • Special Hardened Steel Construction — Manufactured from specially hardened steel, this pinion gear offers superior toughness and durability compared to standard steel alternatives, ensuring it can withstand the rigorous demands of competitive racing and high-powered brushless motors without premature wear or tooth stripping.
  • CNC Cut Teeth for Perfect Geometry — Every tooth is precisely cut using advanced CNC machinery, guaranteeing perfect tooth shape and exceptional concentricity, which eliminates vibration and ensures the smoothest possible gear mesh with your spur gear for optimised power transfer.
  • Ultra-Precise Manufacturing Tolerances — Created on specialised gear-cutting equipment with ultra-tight tolerances, this pinion delivers unparalleled concentricity and true running characteristics that result in vibration-free operation and extended gear life under all track conditions.
  • Module M0.6 Compatibility — Specifically designed for the popular M0.6 modular pitch system used in many Tamiya RC cars and compatible models, allowing you to find the perfect gear ratio for any track or driving condition by choosing from the full range of available tooth counts.
  • 9-Tooth Configuration — The 9-tooth design offers a popular gearing option that strikes a balance between acceleration and top speed, making it suitable for a wide variety of track layouts and driving styles, from tight technical courses to more open racing venues.
  • 3.17mm Motor Shaft Compatibility — Engineered to fit all motor shafts measuring 3.17mm in diameter, this pinion is compatible with most standard brushless and brushed motors used in M0.6 geared Tamiya-type RC cars, making it a universal upgrade option.
  • Easy Identification Marking — Each pinion is clearly marked with its tooth number, allowing for quick and effortless identification during setup changes, maintenance, or storage, eliminating any confusion when managing multiple pinions for different track conditions.
  • Made in Europe — Manufactured in Europe with strict quality control standards, you can be confident you're receiving a genuine, precision-engineered component that meets the highest standards for RC racing components.
  • 4mm Tooth Width — The 4mm tooth width provides optimal gear mesh contact with your spur gear, ensuring reliable power transmission and extended gear lifespan even under high-load conditions typical of competitive RC racing.
  • 1.5mm Hex Key Installation — Simple installation using a standard 1.5mm hex key, making replacement and adjustment quick and straightforward without requiring specialist tools or equipment.

Technical Performance

The Corally C-71609 pinion gear represents the pinnacle of precision gear engineering for M0.6 modular pitch systems. Every aspect of this component has been optimised for performance and longevity. The hardened steel material provides superior wear resistance compared to standard steel alternatives, ensuring that even after hundreds of heat cycles and thousands of gear meshing operations, the tooth profile remains true and accurate. The CNC cutting process produces tooth geometry that is mathematically perfect, eliminating the micro-vibrations and inefficiencies that can accumulate with lower-quality gears. This precision translates into smoother acceleration, more consistent lap times, and reduced mechanical noise during operation—critical factors for competitive RC racing. The 9-tooth design paired with a spur gear creates a gear ratio that delivers excellent acceleration whilst maintaining a reasonable top speed, making it a versatile choice for diverse track layouts. The 3.17mm shaft diameter ensures compatibility with virtually all standard RC car motors, whether you're running a brushless or brushed setup on your M0.6 geared vehicle. At 9mm in overall length and 4mm in tooth width, this pinion is engineered to sit perfectly within standard RC car gearboxes without requiring modifications. The concentricity achieved through precision manufacturing means that run-out is virtually eliminated, delivering vibration-free operation that translates directly into improved handling predictability and reduced stress on your vehicle's driveline components.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Will the Corally M0.6 9T pinion fit my RC car? — This pinion is designed for all Tamiya RC cars and compatible vehicles equipped with M0.6 modular pitch gears and 3.17mm motor shafts. Check your vehicle's documentation to confirm M0.6 compatibility, as this is essential for proper fitment. The pinion's 3.17mm bore matches standard motor shafts, but always verify your specific motor shaft diameter before purchasing to ensure perfect compatibility.
  • What is the advantage of hardened steel over standard steel pinions? — Hardened steel provides superior durability and wear resistance, which means the pinion maintains its precise tooth geometry longer under high-stress conditions. This translates to longer gear life, more consistent performance over time, and better value for money compared to standard steel alternatives, particularly if you race frequently or run high-powered brushless motors.
  • How do I install this pinion gear on my RC car? — Installation requires removing your motor from the gearbox, sliding the old pinion off the 3.17mm motor shaft, and sliding this new pinion onto the shaft. Use the 1.5mm hex key to tighten any retaining grub screw. Always ensure the pinion sits squarely on the shaft and check that it meshes correctly with your spur gear before reassembling. Consult your specific vehicle's manual for detailed installation procedures.
  • What gearing do I get with a 9-tooth pinion? — The actual gear ratio depends on the number of teeth on your spur gear, but a 9-tooth pinion is considered mid-range for M0.6 systems. For example, a 9-tooth pinion with a 50-tooth spur gear produces a 5.55:1 ratio (50÷9), offering balanced acceleration and top speed. Smaller pinions (more teeth) give higher ratios with better acceleration; larger pinions (fewer teeth) give lower ratios with higher top speed.
  • Is this suitable for beginners? — Whilst this is a high-quality component, pinion selection is more relevant to experienced racers optimising performance rather than beginners. However, if your vehicle originally came with a 9-tooth pinion or if you're upgrading from a lower-quality pinion, this Corally option will provide noticeable improvements in smoothness and reliability regardless of skill level.
  • Will this pinion work with brushless and brushed motors? — Yes, this pinion is compatible with both brushless and brushed motors featuring a 3.17mm shaft diameter. The hardened steel construction makes it particularly well-suited to brushless motors, which typically run at higher speeds and generate more heat, but it performs excellently with either motor type.
  • How many teeth should I choose for my track? — The tooth count determines your gear ratio. For tighter, technical tracks requiring better acceleration, choose a pinion with more teeth (lower number = higher gear ratio). For faster, more open tracks where top speed is important, choose a pinion with fewer teeth (higher number = lower gear ratio). The 9-tooth option offered here is a popular mid-range choice suitable for most track conditions.
  • Why is CNC precision important in pinion gears? — CNC precision ensures that every tooth is identically shaped and positioned relative to the gear's centre. This eliminates the vibration and noise caused by imperfect teeth and delivers smooth, consistent power delivery. Precision manufacturing also extends gear life by ensuring even stress distribution across all teeth during operation, rather than concentrating wear on certain teeth due to geometric imperfections.
