Technical Performance
The Voltax 120C represents the convergence of advanced battery chemistry, precision manufacturing, and rigorous quality control that separates premium batteries from commodity alternatives. Its 120C continuous discharge rating means this battery can sustainably deliver 768 amps of current (120 × 6.4 amps from 6400 mAh), ensuring minimal voltage sag even during aggressive acceleration and maximum throttle applications. The Li-HV 3.8V cell technology operates at a higher nominal voltage than standard LiPo cells, providing approximately 48.64 watt-hours of energy storage in a compact, lightweight package weighing just 262 grams. This power density makes the Voltax 120C an exceptional choice for RC cars where both performance and handling characteristics are paramount. The 2S (two-cell) configuration delivers a nominal 7.6V output, perfectly suited to modern brushless ESCs and motors common in 1/10 and 1/8 scale RC cars. The battery's dimensions of 138.5mm length, 47mm width, and 22mm thickness in the LCG stick format make it compatible with vehicles designed for low centre of gravity battery placement, enhancing cornering speed and overall vehicle stability. The hard case construction protects the delicate battery cells from impact damage whilst the 4mm bullet connectors with gold plating ensure minimal resistance and reliable power transfer. The strict quality control process—where each cell is individually balanced, aged, graded, and matched before assembly—ensures that every Voltax 120C pack delivers consistent performance from the first charge through hundreds of subsequent cycles, making it a false economy to choose cheaper batteries that degrade rapidly and underperform.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the Team Corally Voltax 120C suitable for my RC car? — The Voltax 120C is compatible with any RC car, boat, or aeroplane that accepts 2S LiPo batteries with 4mm bullet connectors. The 7.6V nominal output works perfectly with modern brushless ESCs rated for 2S lipos. Check your vehicle's specifications and battery bay dimensions to confirm compatibility; the 138.5mm × 47mm × 22mm form factor is specifically designed for the LCG stick configuration common in many competitive racing vehicles.
- What makes the Li-HV chemistry different from standard LiPo batteries? — Li-HV (Lithium High Voltage) cells operate at 3.8V nominal per cell rather than the standard 3.7V, giving you higher energy density and slightly more total voltage across the pack. This translates to noticeably better acceleration, higher top speeds, and improved performance throughout your driving session compared to standard LiPo alternatives. The trade-off is that Li-HV batteries require a compatible charger that supports the higher cell voltage.
- How long will this battery last before it needs replacing? — With proper care and use of the correct charging procedures, the Voltax 120C should provide hundreds of discharge cycles before capacity degradation becomes noticeable. The meticulous quality assurance process, using only the highest-grade cells with minimal tolerances, means these batteries maintain consistent performance far longer than budget alternatives. Actual lifespan depends on usage patterns, charging habits, and storage conditions, but you can expect years of reliable service from a well-maintained Voltax 120C.
- What charger do I need for the Voltax 120C? — You'll need a LiPo charger that supports 2S Li-HV batteries and the 3C charge rate. The battery can accept charge rates up to 3C, which equals 19.2 amps for this 6400 mAh pack. Most modern hobby chargers support Li-HV chemistry and 2S configurations. Using a charger with a 2mm balance connector port allows you to monitor individual cell voltages during charging, which is the recommended practice for maintaining battery health and detecting potential issues.
- How do the 4mm bullet connectors compare to other connector types? — The 4mm bullet connectors on the Voltax 120C provide a secure, low-resistance connection that minimises voltage drop between the battery and your ESC. Gold-plated contacts resist oxidation and maintain excellent conductivity over time. The 4mm size is standard across many high-performance RC vehicles and ESCs in the UK market, making this battery highly compatible with quality RC car setups.
- What is the 120C discharge rate and why does it matter? — The 120C continuous discharge rate indicates this battery can safely deliver 120 times its capacity in amps per hour. For a 6400 mAh battery, that's 768 amps of sustained current, which means virtually no voltage sag during full throttle acceleration. Higher C ratings translate to snappier throttle response, better acceleration, and more consistent performance throughout your driving session, which is why the Voltax 120C performs noticeably better than lower C-rated alternatives.
- Can I use the Voltax 120C in both racing and recreational bashing? — Absolutely. The 6400 mAh capacity and 120C discharge rate make this battery versatile enough for competitive racing heats where consistent peak performance matters, whilst the extended runtime from the generous 6400 mAh capacity also makes it excellent for recreational weekend bashing where you want longer driving sessions between charges. The battery's balanced specifications make it a genuine all-rounder suitable for multiple applications.
- How should I store the Voltax 120C when not in use? — LiPo batteries should always be stored in a fireproof container or bag, ideally at a moderate temperature away from direct sunlight. Most RC enthusiasts in the UK store LiPos at a storage voltage of around 3.7V per cell (7.4V for a 2S pack), which is slightly lower than fully charged voltage but higher than completely discharged. The hard case protection provided with the Voltax 120C offers excellent physical protection, but you should keep the battery in a dedicated LiPo storage bag as an additional safety measure.
- What is the difference between the Voltax 120C and cheaper LiPo batteries? — The Voltax 120C is manufactured at a facility with over 15 years of specialised experience in high discharge lithium polymer batteries, with each cell individually balanced, aged, graded, and matched before assembly. Cheaper batteries often use lower-grade cells combined haphazardly, resulting in performance inconsistency, rapid capacity degradation, and safety concerns. The Voltax 120C's meticulous quality assurance ensures superior performance across hundreds of cycles, extended lifespan, and genuine safety, making it better value despite the higher initial cost.
