Overview

The Team Associated AS81666 Clutch Bearings 5x10x4mm represent essential maintenance and repair components for serious RC nitro enthusiasts across the UK. Whether you're rebuilding your RC8B4.1 nitro clutch or maintaining any of the compatible RC8 series buggies and truggies, these rubber-sealed bearings deliver the durability and consistent performance that Team drivers rely on season after season. Nitro RC racing demands components that can withstand extreme temperatures and punishing loads, and these clutch bearings are engineered specifically for that purpose. Supplied as a convenient 10-piece pack, they give you enough bearings to get through a full racing season without worrying about running out when you need them most.

RC car enthusiasts in the UK know that clutch bearings are critical wear items in nitro-powered RC vehicles. The intense heat generated during clutch operation means standard bearings simply won't last. That's where these Team Associated replacement bearings come in—they're purpose-designed for high-temperature nitro clutch operation, with rubber seals that protect against contamination and extend bearing life. Whether you're a competitive racer pushing your RC8B4.1 to its limits at the track, or a dedicated basher maintaining your RC8T4 truggy for weekend fun, having a supply of quality replacement bearings on hand is essential maintenance practice.

RC Model Shop stocks the Team Associated AS81666 clutch bearings as part of our commitment to providing RC enthusiasts with genuine, authorised Team Associated spares and upgrades. These aren't generic bearings—they're OEM Team Associated components designed to work seamlessly with your nitro RC drivetrain, ensuring optimal performance and reliability every time you take your model to the track.

Key Features

  • Rubber Sealed Design — The rubber seals on these clutch bearings provide maximum protection against heat, dirt, and contamination that commonly occur during intense nitro RC operation, which means they maintain their performance longer than unsealed alternatives and reduce the frequency of replacement.
  • High-Temperature Capability — Engineered specifically to handle the extreme heat generated during nitro clutch operation, these bearings are built to withstand temperatures that would compromise standard bearings, making them ideal for both competitive racing and regular high-performance use.
  • 10-Piece Pack Quantity — This generous pack size ensures you have sufficient replacement bearings to maintain your RC8 drivetrain throughout an entire racing season without the need for frequent reordering, providing excellent value for money and reliable availability.
  • Consistent Performance — Team drivers trust these bearings because they deliver predictable, reliable performance race after race, maintaining smooth clutch engagement and power delivery that serious competitors depend on.
  • Wide Compatibility Range — These 5x10x4mm bearings fit a comprehensive selection of RC8 models, covering RC8B3 and RC8B4 buggies as well as RC8T3 and RC8T4 truggies, making them a versatile choice for anyone with multiple Team Associated models.
  • OEM Team Associated Components — As genuine manufacturer parts, these bearings maintain the same quality standards and specifications as the original bearings in your RC vehicle, ensuring perfect fit and optimal performance.

Technical Performance

The Team Associated AS81666 clutch bearings represent precision engineering designed around the specific demands of nitro-powered RC racing. Measuring 5x10x4mm, these bearings are dimensionally optimised for use in Team Associated RC8 series drivetrains, where they play a critical role in managing the transfer of power through the clutch system. The rubber seal construction is the key to their performance advantage—whilst unsealed bearings might spin slightly faster, the seals on these bearings provide essential protection in the extreme environment of a nitro RC clutch, where temperatures regularly exceed normal operating parameters. The sealed design traps lubricant inside the bearing races, maintaining consistent lubrication even when subjected to the thermal stress of nitro engines running at full power. This engineering approach prioritises durability and reliability over marginal speed gains, reflecting Team Associated's focus on race-proven components that work consistently under real-world conditions. The 10-piece pack quantity is carefully calculated based on typical replacement intervals for competitive and recreational use, ensuring you have the bearings you need without unnecessary excess stock.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Are these clutch bearings suitable for my RC8B4.1 nitro buggy? — Yes, these Team Associated AS81666 bearings are specifically designed for RC8B4.1 models and offer durable, heat-resistant performance that meets the demands of nitro clutch operation on this popular competition buggy.
  • How often should I replace these clutch bearings? — Replacement frequency depends on how intensively you use your RC vehicle. Competitive racers might replace bearings every few months of regular track use, whilst recreational users may go longer. It's good practice to inspect bearings regularly for smooth spin and replace them if you notice resistance or roughness.
  • Why are rubber-sealed bearings better for nitro RC clutches than unsealed bearings? — The rubber seals protect the bearing races from heat, dirt, and contamination that are inherent to nitro engine operation, maintaining consistent lubrication and preventing premature wear. Unsealed bearings would allow dirt and heat to degrade the internal surfaces much faster, reducing their lifespan significantly.
  • Will these bearings fit older RC8 models? — Yes, the Team Associated AS81666 bearings are compatible with older nitro buggies and truggies in the RC8 range, making them a reliable choice if you're maintaining classic Team Associated models alongside newer ones.
  • What makes these genuine Team Associated bearings different from generic 5x10x4mm bearings? — Team Associated designs these bearings specifically for the thermal and mechanical demands of their RC8 series clutches, with engineered seals and materials that handle nitro engine temperatures and loads more effectively than generic replacements.
  • How many bearings come in each pack? — The AS81666 pack contains 10 individual clutch bearings, giving you enough to maintain your vehicle throughout a competitive season or to have spares for multiple RC8 models.
  • Is this a spare part only, or do I need other components to install it? — These are replacement bearings only. You'll need the appropriate tools and knowledge to disassemble your clutch, remove the old bearings, and install new ones. If you're unfamiliar with this process, we recommend consulting the vehicle manual or seeking assistance from experienced RC technicians.
