Overview
The Team Associated RC8B4 FT Front Upper Suspension Arm Inserts Carbon (AS81537) are genuine Factory Team carbon fibre components designed specifically for competitive 1/8 scale electric RC buggies. These precision-engineered inserts represent the cutting edge of RC suspension upgrades available in the UK market, offering serious racers and dedicated hobbyists the ability to fine-tune their RC car's handling characteristics. Whether you're competing in club races, tackling outdoor tracks, or simply seeking to optimise your RC buggy's performance, these carbon inserts deliver the rigidity and precision that modern 1/8 scale racing demands.
Team Associated is renowned for innovation in RC buggy design, and the RC8B4 platform represents one of the most advanced 1/8 scale electric buggies available today. The RC8B4.1e evolution introduced a complete overhaul of the suspension system, featuring new low-CG shock towers and updated suspension geometry that fundamentally changed how competitive drivers approach track setup. These front upper suspension arm inserts are a critical component of that system, allowing drivers to adjust their buggy's handling balance and steering response with precision. For UK RC enthusiasts serious about getting the absolute most from their RC buggy, these Factory Team carbon inserts are an essential upgrade.
Manufactured to exacting standards by Team Associated's Factory Team division, these carbon inserts provide consistent performance and durability across multiple race meetings. The carbon construction offers superior rigidity compared to standard plastic alternatives, meaning your suspension geometry remains stable and predictable even under the demanding conditions of competitive RC racing. If you're running an RC8B4 or RC8B4e platform and want to access the full range of suspension tuning options available, these front upper arm inserts are a must-have addition to your spare parts collection.
Key Features
- Genuine Factory Team Carbon Construction — These inserts are manufactured from high-quality carbon fibre by Team Associated's Factory Team division, ensuring they meet the same rigorous standards as the original equipment supplied with competition RC kits. Carbon construction provides superior stiffness compared to plastic alternatives, translating to more consistent suspension performance and improved handling predictability during races.
- Precision Engineering for RC8B4 Platform — Designed specifically for the RC8B4 and RC8B4e 1/8 scale buggy platforms, these inserts integrate seamlessly with the new low-CG suspension geometry that defines the latest generation of Team Associated competition buggies. The precise fit ensures there are no compatibility issues or performance compromises when installing these upgrades on your RC car.
- Enables Advanced Suspension Tuning — By providing alternative inserts for the front upper suspension arm position, these components allow drivers to adjust their RC buggy's handling balance and steering response. Different insert configurations can change how the suspension reacts to track conditions, enabling drivers to optimise their setup for smooth tracks, bumpy terrain, or specific driving styles without requiring complete arm replacement.
- Competition-Grade Durability — The carbon fibre material is engineered to withstand the rigorous demands of competitive RC racing, offering exceptional durability and consistency across multiple race meetings. Unlike cheaper plastic alternatives, carbon construction resists fatigue and maintains its performance characteristics even after extensive use.
- Lightweight Design for Lower Centre of Gravity — Carbon fibre offers strength-to-weight ratio advantages that help maintain the low centre of gravity characteristic of the RC8B4.1e platform. Every gram matters in 1/8 scale racing, and the lightweight carbon construction contributes to improved handling and acceleration.
Technical Performance
The RC8B4.1e represented a major evolution in 1/8 scale electric RC buggy design, with Team Associated engineers specifically targeting lower centre of gravity and improved handling on un-groomed outdoor tracks. The new suspension geometry featured redesigned front and rear shock towers, shorter 16mm shock bodies, and updated suspension arm designs that fundamentally changed how drivers could set up their RC buggies. The front upper suspension arm inserts are a critical component of this system, as they directly influence the kingpin inclination (KPI) and overall steering geometry. The RC8B4 features 8-degree steering blocks paired with wider upper suspension arm pivots for increased stability and consistent steering throughout the entire steering throw. By offering carbon fibre insert options for the front upper arm position, Team Associated enables drivers to fine-tune their suspension geometry and steering response characteristics. The carbon construction ensures that suspension geometry remains precise and consistent even under the high lateral forces generated during aggressive cornering in competitive racing. The inserts work in conjunction with the updated soft blend suspension arm material (introduced for maximum durability in cold weather conditions) to create a suspension system that balances performance with reliability. For UK RC racers running the RC8B4 platform, these factory-engineered carbon inserts represent the professional-grade tuning options that separate competitive setup from standard out-of-the-box configurations. The precision manufacturing and quality control standards applied to these components ensure they will provide consistent performance across multiple seasons of competition.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Are these inserts compatible with my RC8B4 or RC8B4e? — Yes, these Factory Team carbon inserts are specifically designed for use with both the RC8B4 and RC8B4e 1/8 scale electric buggy platforms. The RC8B4.1e introduced a new suspension architecture with updated front upper arm mounts featuring integrated geometry, and these inserts are engineered to work with that system. They will not fit earlier RC8B3 models without additional modifications.
- What difference will these carbon inserts make to my RC buggy's handling? — Carbon inserts provide superior stiffness compared to plastic alternatives, which means your suspension geometry will remain more consistent and predictable throughout a race. This translates to more stable steering response, particularly in bumpy terrain or when running aggressive setup combinations. The inserts enable you to adjust your buggy's handling balance by selecting different geometry configurations, allowing you to optimise for specific track conditions ranging from smooth, hard-packed surfaces to rough, choppy outdoor terrain.
- Do I need any special tools to install these inserts? — Installation requires standard RC hobby tools including hex wrenches (Factory Team produce recommended FT Hex Wrench sets in both 3-piece and 5-piece configurations). The inserts mount directly to the front upper suspension arms, which are machined specifically to accept these components. Detailed installation instructions are provided with the RC8B4.1e instruction manual, available as a digital download from Team Associated's website.
- How do these compare to the standard plastic inserts? — Carbon fibre offers significant advantages over plastic alternatives, including superior stiffness (which improves suspension consistency and predictability), lower weight (contributing to the overall lower centre of gravity that defines the RC8B4.1e platform), and exceptional durability under the demanding conditions of competitive racing. While carbon inserts represent a premium upgrade, they are considered essential equipment for serious UK RC racers running the RC8B4 platform at competitive events.
- Are these genuine Team Associated parts? — Yes, these are genuine Factory Team components manufactured by Team Associated. The part number AS81537 is the official designation for these carbon inserts, and they carry Team Associated's quality guarantee. Purchasing genuine parts ensures compatibility, durability, and access to official support and technical documentation.
- What is the difference between these front inserts and rear suspension arm inserts? — Team Associated offers both front and rear suspension arm insert options for the RC8B4 platform. The front upper inserts (AS81537) are designed specifically for the front upper arm position and influence steering geometry and front-end handling characteristics. Separately available rear suspension arm inserts (part number AS81668) work with the updated 3-hole rear suspension arms and affect rear anti-roll bar geometry and rear-end grip characteristics. Using both front and rear inserts together enables comprehensive suspension tuning options.
