Overview
The Team Associated Rear Springs V2 in red are precision-engineered suspension components designed for serious RC enthusiasts and competitive racers in the UK. These high-quality rear springs deliver consistent performance across a range of driving conditions, making them an essential upgrade or replacement for owners of Team Associated RC8 series vehicles. Whether you're fine-tuning your RC car UK setup for track days or maintaining your vehicle in peak condition, these springs offer the suspension control you need to achieve competitive lap times and smooth handling characteristics.
Supplied under part number AS81237, these V2 red rear springs are recognised by their specific identifiers L86, 10.0T, and 1.6D, which help ensure correct fitment and performance matching. Team Associated is a leading manufacturer of professional-grade RC buggies and trucks, and their spring range represents the same engineering excellence you'll find throughout their product line. These springs are not an aftermarket option—they are genuine Team Associated components that integrate seamlessly with your existing suspension setup.
For those seeking to upgrade their suspension performance or replace worn springs, the Rear Springs V2 Red 4.7lb/in provide a straightforward yet effective solution for suspension tuning. The red colour code is part of Team Associated's V2 spring series, which is designed to work across multiple models in their RC8 range. If you're running an RC8B4, RC8B4e, RC8T4, RC8T4e, RC8B4.1, or RC8B4.1e, these springs will integrate perfectly with your existing suspension geometry.
Key Features
- 4.7 lb/in Spring Rate — This spring rate defines how much force is required to compress the springs and is measured in pounds per inch. A 4.7 lb/in rate provides balanced suspension compliance, offering good traction and stability without being overly stiff or too soft, making these springs versatile for various track conditions and driving styles.
- V2 Red Colour Code — Team Associated uses colour coding to help users quickly identify spring specifications without needing to cross-reference technical documents. The red V2 designation ensures you're selecting the correct springs for your specific RC car setup and maintenance needs.
- Precision Length: L86 — The L86 identifier specifies the exact length of the spring, ensuring perfect fitment within your RC8 series vehicle's suspension towers. Correct spring length is critical for maintaining proper suspension geometry, ride height, and overall vehicle balance.
- 10.0T and 1.6D Specifications — These additional identifiers (10.0T and 1.6D) further define the spring's characteristics, allowing precise matching with your vehicle's suspension requirements. Using the correct specification springs ensures your RC car maintains the suspension behaviour that Team Associated engineered into your model.
- Compatible with RC8 Series — These springs are designed to fit the RC8B4, RC8B4e, RC8T4, RC8T4e, RC8B4.1, and RC8B4.1e models, making them an ideal replacement or upgrade option if you own any of these competitive RC platforms from Team Associated.
- OEM Quality Components — As genuine Team Associated parts, these springs meet the same manufacturing standards and quality control specifications as the springs fitted to new vehicles from the factory, ensuring reliable performance and consistent handling characteristics.
Technical Performance
The Team Associated Rear Springs V2 Red 4.7lb/in are engineered using high-quality materials and precision manufacturing techniques that Team Associated has perfected over decades of RC racing experience. The 4.7 lb/in spring rate strikes an excellent balance between compliance and support, allowing the suspension to absorb track bumps and maintain tyre contact with the surface whilst providing sufficient resistance to prevent excessive body roll during cornering and acceleration. The L86 length specification ensures these springs integrate perfectly with the suspension geometry of your RC8 series vehicle, maintaining the correct static ride height and suspension travel range that Team Associated designed into these platforms. Whether you're running on asphalt track surfaces, loose dirt, or carpet, the suspension characteristics provided by these springs will deliver predictable and repeatable handling. The red V2 designation indicates these are part of Team Associated's latest generation of spring technology, incorporating lessons learned from countless hours of competition racing and user feedback. The 10.0T and 1.6D specifications provide additional precision in defining the spring's wire diameter and coil count, which directly affect spring stiffness, durability, and response characteristics. When properly matched with compatible shocks and suspension geometry, these rear springs will provide the foundation for a well-balanced RC car that responds predictably to driver inputs and maintains traction through technical sections of track.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What vehicles do these rear springs fit? — These Team Associated Rear Springs V2 Red 4.7lb/in are compatible with the RC8B4, RC8B4e, RC8T4, RC8T4e, RC8B4.1, and RC8B4.1e models. Always verify your specific vehicle model before purchasing to ensure correct fitment.
- Why should I replace my RC car's rear springs? — Over time, RC springs lose their original stiffness due to repeated compression cycles, fatigue, and material degradation. Replacing worn springs restores your vehicle's original suspension geometry and handling characteristics, improving traction, stability, and overall performance on track.
- What does the 4.7 lb/in spring rate mean? — The spring rate (4.7 lb/in) indicates how much force is required to compress the spring by one inch. A stiffer spring rate (higher number) reduces suspension compliance, whilst a softer rate (lower number) allows greater suspension travel. The 4.7 lb/in rate on these springs provides a balanced, versatile setup suitable for various track conditions.
- Are these genuine Team Associated parts? — Yes, the Team Associated Rear Springs V2 Red are official OEM components manufactured by Team Associated and sold through authorised retailers. They carry the full Team Associated warranty and quality assurance standards, ensuring reliable performance and proper fitment.
- How do I know which spring rate I need? — Spring selection depends on your specific track conditions, driving style, and vehicle setup. Softer springs (lower lb/in rating) provide more traction and comfort on bumpy surfaces, whilst stiffer springs (higher lb/in rating) reduce body roll and improve high-speed stability. If you're replacing springs, using the same specification as your original springs is a safe starting point unless you're intentionally adjusting your setup for different conditions.
- Can I use different spring rates on the front and rear of my RC car? — Yes, RC cars are typically set up with different spring rates front and rear to achieve balanced handling. The rear springs work in conjunction with front springs and shocks to create your overall suspension behaviour, so it's important to use the correct specification for each end of the vehicle.
- What other suspension components might I need? — Your RC car's suspension consists of springs, shocks, suspension arms, and related geometry components. If you're replacing springs, you may also want to consider replacing shock fluid, shock pistons, or bushings depending on the age and condition of your vehicle.
