Technical Performance
The Associated V2 Rear Springs deliver precise suspension tuning for the RC8B3-series buggy range. Rated at 4.1 lb/in, these springs sit in the mid-range of the available rates, making them suitable for general-purpose racing and bashing across varied track conditions. The engineering behind these springs ensures consistent load distribution and responsive handling characteristics that align with Team Associated's reputation for race-proven suspension geometry. Built to OEM specifications, they integrate perfectly with the RC8B3, RC8B3.1 and RC8B3.2 platforms, which are themselves competitive 1/10-scale 4WD buggies popular throughout the UK RC racing community. Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the difference between 4.1 lb/in and other spring rates available for the RC8B3? — Spring rate directly affects how stiff or soft your suspension feels. The 4.1 lb/in rate on these V2 springs is a mid-range option that balances responsiveness with stability, making it versatile across different track types. Softer springs (lower lb/in ratings) provide more grip and bump absorption but can cause excessive squat under acceleration, while stiffer springs offer better control but less traction on loose surfaces. The 4.1 lb/in rating is an excellent starting point for most RC car drivers exploring suspension tuning.
- Are these rear springs suitable for beginners? — Yes, absolutely. While these are genuine Associated OEM components used in competitive racing, they're equally valuable for recreational drivers and those new to RC car tuning. Understanding how spring rates affect your buggy's handling is an important part of the hobby, and these springs make that learning process straightforward. If you're new to suspension tuning, starting with the 4.1 lb/in rate and then experimenting with softer or stiffer options will help you develop a feel for how suspension geometry influences performance.
- Can I use these springs on other Associated models? — These springs are specifically engineered for the RC8B3, RC8B3.1 and RC8B3.2 platforms. While other Associated buggies may have similar suspension geometry, we recommend checking compatibility with the manufacturer's documentation or contacting RC Model Shop before using them on different models. Using the correct springs ensures optimal performance and prevents potential suspension damage.
- How often should I replace my rear springs? — Springs typically last a long time with normal use, but they can lose their load rating over extended periods or if repeatedly stressed. If you notice your buggy sitting lower than usual or the suspension feeling less responsive, it's time to consider replacement. Springs used in competitive racing environments may need replacement more frequently due to the intense demands placed on the suspension system.
- What is the V2 version, and how does it differ from V1? — Team Associated continuously refines its components based on competitive feedback and engineering improvements. The V2 designation indicates these are the current generation of rear springs, incorporating manufacturing and material refinements that improve consistency and longevity. If you're upgrading from an older RC8B3 setup, switching to V2 springs ensures you're running the latest suspension technology.
