Overview
The Team Associated RC10SC7 FT Chassis Side Rails in Carbon are premium Factory Team upgrade components designed for builders and racers who demand the highest standards of performance and durability in their RC short course truck platform. These genuine carbon fibre side rails are manufactured to exacting Factory Team specifications and serve as a direct replacement or upgrade for the standard chassis side rails on the RC10SC7 platform. Built from lightweight yet rigid carbon fibre material, these side rails help maintain the structural integrity of your chassis whilst contributing to an overall reduction in unsprung weight. Whether you're competing in UK RC racing events, practising at your local track, or enjoying weekend bashing sessions, the RC10SC7 FT Chassis Side Rails provide the quality and performance you expect from Team Associated's Factory Team line of components.
The RC10SC7 itself represents the next evolutionary step in Team Associated's proven short course truck platform, built on the foundation of the successful RC10B7 platform but with specific enhancements tailored for short course racing. These side rails are a key structural component that help keep your chassis assembly rigid and true during aggressive driving conditions. For RC car UK enthusiasts looking to upgrade their RC10SC7, these carbon side rails offer a lightweight alternative to standard components, contributing to better handling characteristics and improved overall vehicle dynamics. The Factory Team designation ensures these parts meet the same exacting standards used in competition builds across the world.
Installation of the RC10SC7 FT Chassis Side Rails is straightforward for experienced builders, and for first-time builders or those unfamiliar with the RC10SC7 assembly process, detailed installation guidance can be found in your vehicle's manual. These components are identified by the manufacturer part number AS71228 and represent a direct fit solution for RC10SC7 FT builds. RC Model Shop stocks genuine Team Associated components, ensuring you receive authentic Factory Team products that deliver the performance and build quality you deserve.
Key Features
- Carbon Fibre Construction — These side rails are manufactured from carbon fibre material, which provides an exceptional strength-to-weight ratio that is significantly superior to plastic alternatives, meaning your chassis remains rigid under load whilst minimising unsprung weight that can negatively affect suspension performance and handling.
- Factory Team Specification — As part of Team Associated's Factory Team product line, these side rails are manufactured to the exact specifications used in competition vehicles, ensuring compatibility and performance that meets professional racing standards and reflects the engineering quality of Team Associated's Area 51 design centre.
- Direct RC10SC7 FT Compatibility — These side rails are specifically engineered for the RC10SC7 FT platform and provide a perfect fit replacement component that maintains all the adjustability and performance characteristics that the RC10SC7 design was built to deliver.
- Genuine Team Associated Component — As an official Team Associated part carrying the manufacturer's part number AS71228, these are authentic Factory Team components that come with the assurance of genuine manufacturing quality and precision tolerances.
- Lightweight Performance Upgrade — The use of carbon fibre in place of standard plastic components contributes to lowering the overall centre of gravity of your RC10SC7, which is one of the primary design goals of the RC10SC7 platform and directly improves handling and cornering performance.
- Enhanced Durability — Carbon fibre's superior rigidity and impact resistance mean these side rails provide increased durability compared to plastic equivalents, particularly important for competitive racing where chassis components are subjected to significant stresses and impacts.
Technical Performance
The RC10SC7 FT Chassis Side Rails represent the engineering philosophy that Team Associated incorporated into the entire RC10SC7 platform design. The RC10SC7 was developed with three primary design goals: lowering the centre of gravity for improved handling stability, adding durability to components that experience high stress during racing, and incorporating the advanced adjustability and performance characteristics that made the RC10B7 such a successful platform. The decision to manufacture these side rails in carbon fibre directly addresses the durability and weight reduction objectives. Carbon fibre offers approximately 70-80% of the rigidity of aluminium whilst weighing significantly less, making it an ideal material for chassis components that must maintain structural integrity whilst minimising rotating and unsprung mass. The RC10SC7 platform itself represents Team Associated's commitment to modern short course truck design, featuring their innovative 3-gear laydown transmission that was specifically engineered to reduce mechanical drag and maximise power transfer to the larger short course truck tyres that characterise this class of racing. These side rails integrate seamlessly with all other RC10SC7 FT components and maintain the precise geometry required for optimal suspension geometry and handling characteristics. For builders in the UK RC market, upgrading to these Factory Team carbon side rails represents a meaningful performance enhancement that reflects the latest thinking from Team Associated's engineering team.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Are these RC10SC7 carbon side rails suitable for beginners? — These components are best suited to experienced RC builders who are familiar with RC10SC7 chassis assembly and modification. They represent a performance upgrade rather than a beginner-friendly component, and installation requires understanding of proper chassis assembly techniques. If you are new to the hobby, we recommend starting with a complete ready-to-run RC car kit before upgrading individual components.
- What is the difference between the standard RC10SC7 side rails and the FT carbon version? — Team Associated manufactures two versions of the RC10SC7 side rails: part number 71227 (standard plastic version) priced at £14.99 MSRP, and part number 71228 (Factory Team carbon version) priced at £22.99 MSRP. The carbon version offers significant weight savings and superior rigidity compared to the plastic standard version, making it the preferred choice for competitive racing where every gram of weight matters and chassis flex can negatively impact handling performance.
- Will these side rails fit my RC10SC7? — Yes, these rails are specifically engineered for the RC10SC7 FT platform and provide a direct fit replacement for the original side rails. Team Associated manufactures these as official RC10SC7 FT components, ensuring perfect compatibility with all other RC10SC7 FT chassis components and suspension geometry.
- Do I need any additional hardware or tools to install these side rails? — Installation of chassis components typically requires standard RC tools including Allen keys (hex drivers) and small socket sets. For detailed installation instructions, hardware specifications, and torque requirements, please refer to your RC10SC7 manual. If you do not have the manual, Team Associated provides comprehensive assembly guides on their website and through authorised retailers.
- How do carbon side rails improve RC car UK performance? — Carbon fibre side rails contribute to improved handling in several ways: the reduced weight lowers the vehicle's centre of gravity, which improves cornering grip and stability; the increased rigidity of carbon fibre compared to plastic maintains precise chassis geometry under acceleration and braking forces; and the overall weight reduction decreases the inertia of the vehicle, allowing it to change direction more quickly and respond more precisely to steering inputs, all factors that are critical in competitive RC racing.
- What other RC10SC7 FT upgrades does Team Associated offer? — Team Associated manufactures an extensive range of RC10SC7 FT upgrade components including FT front shock towers (part 71229), FT bumper and nerf bar sets, FT differential height inserts, and FT gearbox components. Builders can progressively upgrade their vehicles to full Factory Team specification using these official components.
