Overview
The Team Associated AS71047 Servo Saver is an essential genuine OEM spare part designed specifically for Team Associated RC models including the ProSC10, RAT, and Reflex platforms. This precision-engineered component is built to protect your servo from damage during aggressive driving and impacts, making it an indispensable upgrade for anyone serious about maintaining their RC car UK collection. Whether you're a competitive racer or a weekend basher, a properly functioning servo saver can mean the difference between a quick repair and a complete servo replacement costing significantly more.
Servo savers are critical steering system components that work by absorbing and cushioning the impacts and shocks transmitted through the steering linkage to your servo. When your RC car hits a bump, wall, or experiences a sudden steering input, the servo saver acts as a mechanical buffer, preventing catastrophic servo damage that could otherwise halt your racing session. This is particularly important for off-road RC buggies and short course trucks that experience constant impacts and extreme steering angles during competitive racing or casual driving.
As an authorised Team Associated retailer, RC Model Shop stocks genuine parts that meet the exacting standards of one of the world's most respected RC manufacturers. The AS71047 is manufactured to the same specifications as the original component fitted to these vehicles, ensuring perfect fitment and reliable performance season after season. Available at competitive UK pricing with fast dispatch, this servo saver represents excellent value for money and peace of mind.
Key Features
- Genuine Team Associated OEM Part — This is an officially manufactured Team Associated component, not a third-party copy or aftermarket alternative, which means it meets the exact specifications and quality standards set by the manufacturer and ensures perfect compatibility with your vehicle.
- Multi-Spring System for Progressive Damping — The servo saver includes three different spring options (Spring A, Spring B, and Spring C) allowing you to tune the steering response and impact absorption characteristics to match your driving style, track conditions, and personal preference for sensitivity and feedback.
- Dual-Horn Design with 25T and 23T Options — Two servo horns with different tooth counts are included, giving you flexibility to adjust the servo lever arm ratio, which affects steering throw, sensitivity, and the mechanical advantage of your steering system to suit various racing conditions.
- Complete Assembly with Retainer — The package includes the servo saver arm, retainer clip, and all necessary springs, providing everything needed for a complete installation or full servo saver replacement without requiring additional components.
- Compatibility Across Multiple Team Associated Platforms — This single servo saver part number fits an extensive range of Team Associated models, making it an economical choice for those running multiple vehicles or providing upgrade options across different models in the same chassis generation.
- Active Production Status — As an actively produced component, this part is consistently available and supported by Team Associated, meaning you can confidently stock spare units knowing they will remain in production and available for future seasons.
Technical Performance
The Team Associated AS71047 Servo Saver represents decades of refined engineering from one of the most successful RC manufacturers in competitive racing. The assembly mechanism works through a spring-damped pivot system that allows controlled flex and movement in the steering linkage, progressively absorbing impact energy before it reaches your servo gears and electronics. By distributing impact forces across the spring system rather than transmitting them directly to the servo, the servo saver significantly extends servo lifespan and maintains consistent steering performance even after hard crashes or aggressive driving. The three included springs provide different damping characteristics—stiffer springs offer quicker steering response and more direct feedback, while softer springs provide greater shock absorption and forgiveness on rough terrain. The dual servo horns (25-tooth and 23-tooth) allow fine-tuning of your steering geometry and mechanical advantage, enabling you to customise how quickly the front end responds to transmitter input and how much steering lock you achieve. The retainer clip secures all components in place, preventing accidental disassembly during operation. This servo saver is engineered for use with standard RC servos and integrates seamlessly with the steering systems on all compatible Team Associated models, from the versatile ProSC10 short course truck to the more aggressive RAT (Reflex Alternative Truck) and Reflex DB10 platforms, making it equally suitable for competitive off-road racing, indoor track racing, or recreational driving.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What exactly does a servo saver do and why do I need one? — A servo saver is a mechanical component that absorbs and cushions impacts transmitted through the steering linkage to your servo. During normal driving, your RC car experiences constant bumps, jumps, and crashes that would otherwise transmit sudden shock forces directly to your servo's internal gears. These forces can strip servo gears, crack the servo case, or damage the internal electronics, leading to expensive repairs or replacement. The servo saver uses a spring-damped system to soften these impacts, significantly extending your servo's lifespan and keeping your vehicle running reliably throughout the season.
- How do I choose between the different springs included in this kit? — The three springs (A, B, and C) offer different damping characteristics. Generally, stiffer springs (often colour-coded) provide quicker steering response and more immediate feedback from your driving input, while softer springs absorb more shock but may feel slightly less responsive. For rough terrain and heavy bashing, softer springs provide better protection. For smooth racing surfaces where you want precise steering control, stiffer springs are preferable. Many drivers carry all three options to their local track and test different combinations to find their personal preference.
- What is the difference between the 25T and 23T servo horns? — The tooth count refers to the number of splines on the horn that engages with your servo's output shaft. The 25-tooth horn provides a slightly longer moment arm, giving you more steering throw and potentially softer steering feel, whilst the 23-tooth horn provides a more direct, responsive steering characteristic with slightly less overall steering throw. The choice depends on your vehicle setup, track conditions, and personal driving preference for steering sensitivity.
- Is the AS71047 compatible with all Team Associated models? — No, this servo saver is designed specifically for Team Associated vehicles that use this particular steering geometry. The manufacturer lists compatibility with ProSC10, RAT, Reflex, DR10, SR10, RB10, Pro2 models, and other listed platforms. Before purchasing, verify your specific model number against the official compatibility list to ensure proper fit and function.
- Can I upgrade my existing servo saver to the AS71047 if my car originally came with a different component? — If your Team Associated model is listed in the compatibility section, you can upgrade to or replace your servo saver with the AS71047. This is particularly worthwhile if your current servo saver is damaged, worn, or if you want to take advantage of the spring tuning options included in this complete assembly kit.
- How often should I replace my servo saver? — Servo savers are durable components, but they do wear over time through repeated impacts and use. Many drivers find that a servo saver lasts one or two full seasons of regular driving or racing before the springs lose their original characteristics. If you notice that your steering feels less responsive or that impacts seem to transmit more directly to your servo, it may be time to replace your servo saver with the AS71047.
