Overview

The Associated CR12 Pivot Balls 5.0mm Short Neck (AS41033) are precision engineered hardware components designed for small-scale RC applications across the UK and beyond. These compact linkage points represent an essential maintenance item for RC enthusiasts who demand smooth, responsive articulation in their steering and suspension assemblies. Whether you're a seasoned RC car UK competitor or a weekend basher looking to maintain your model in peak condition, these official Associated spare parts deliver the precision and reliability you expect from the brand.

Pivot balls are critical components in any RC car's linkage system, serving as the connection points between various mechanical assemblies. Over time and through regular use, these pivot points can wear, leading to slop in steering response and suspension articulation. By upgrading to fresh, unworn pivot balls, you restore the crisp, direct feel that makes RC driving enjoyable. The 5.0mm short neck specification makes these particularly suitable for the Associated CR12 platform and compatible small-scale RC vehicles, ensuring a perfect fit without modification or adaptation.

A straightforward hardware refresh like this can help preserve consistent link movement and responsiveness on your RC model, making it an intelligent choice for routine maintenance or replacing worn components. RC Model Shop stocks these genuine Associated parts, ensuring you receive authentic spares that meet manufacturer specifications and deliver the performance your model deserves.

Key Features

  • 5.0mm Short Neck Design — The compact 5.0mm short neck profile is specifically engineered for small-scale RC applications, providing precise linkage points without excessive length that could interfere with other suspension or steering components. This design ensures clean, direct mechanical action throughout your model's articulation range.
  • Official Associated Part Number AS41033 — These are genuine manufacturer spares carrying the official Associated part number, guaranteeing compatibility and quality standards. Using authentic parts means you avoid fit issues and maintain the integrity of your RC vehicle's design engineering.
  • Precision Pivot Point Engineering — Manufactured to exact specifications, these pivot balls provide the smooth rotational characteristics essential for responsive steering and suspension movement. Precision engineering translates directly into improved handling feel and more predictable vehicle behaviour during driving.
  • Ideal for Routine Maintenance — Whether you're performing seasonal maintenance on a well-used model or refreshing worn components before competition, these pivot balls are a practical choice. Fresh pivot balls eliminate notchiness and restore the smooth feel of your linkage systems.
  • CR12 Platform Compatibility — Specifically suggested for Associated CR12 applications, these parts ensure perfect fitment without modification. If you own an Associated CR12 or a compatible variant, you can install these with confidence.
  • Wear Replacement Solution — Over time, pivot balls can develop wear and play in their mounting points, leading to imprecise steering response. These replacement balls restore factory-fresh articulation characteristics to your RC car.

Technical Performance

The Associated CR12 Pivot Balls represent precision engineering in miniature form, critical to maintaining the mechanical integrity of small-scale RC vehicles. These components are manufactured to exact specifications that ensure smooth rotational characteristics under the demands of regular RC driving. The 5.0mm short neck specification indicates a compact design optimised for applications where space efficiency matters without compromising functionality. Quality pivot balls are essential for eliminating play in steering linkages and suspension connections, directly affecting how your RC car responds to control inputs. By maintaining fresh, unworn pivot balls, you preserve the direct, responsive feel that defines a well-engineered RC vehicle. These are standard parts designed for the Associated CR12 platform, making them the correct choice for owners of this model looking to maintain or restore their vehicle's performance characteristics. The precision engineering inherent in genuine Associated spares ensures reliable performance through multiple seasons of recreational and competitive RC car driving across the UK and internationally.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What are pivot balls and why do I need them for my RC car? — Pivot balls are the connection points in your RC vehicle's steering and suspension linkages. They allow smooth articulation and rotational movement between components. Over time with use, these wear and develop play, causing imprecise steering and suspension response. Replacing them with fresh pivot balls restores the crisp, direct feel of your RC car's mechanical systems.
  • Are these compatible with my Associated CR12? — Yes, these parts are specifically suggested for the Associated CR12 platform. The AS41033 part number is the official Associated designation for these 5.0mm short neck pivot balls, ensuring perfect fitment on CR12 models and compatible variants without modification.
  • How often should I replace pivot balls on my RC car? — Pivot ball replacement frequency depends on how frequently you drive and the intensity of use. Casual recreational drivers might replace them annually, whilst competitive racers or heavy users might need to refresh them more frequently. If you notice notchiness or play in your steering linkage, it's time for fresh pivot balls.
  • Do I need any special tools to install these pivot balls? — Installation requirements depend on your specific linkage design. Generally, pivot ball replacement is a straightforward process, though you may need a small Allen key or screwdriver. Consult your Associated CR12 manual for specific installation instructions for your model variant.
  • Can I use these on other RC models? — These are designed specifically for the Associated CR12 platform. Whilst the 5.0mm short neck specification might fit other small-scale RC vehicles, RC Model Shop recommends confirming compatibility with your model's documentation before purchase to ensure proper fitment and performance.
  • What makes genuine Associated parts better than generic alternatives? — Genuine Associated parts are engineered to exact specifications that match your model's design requirements. Authentic spares ensure perfect fitment, reliable performance, and maintain the integrity of your vehicle's mechanical systems. Using official parts also supports the manufacturer who develops and improves your RC platform.
