Key Features
- High Voltage Digital Technology — This servo operates on high voltage platforms (up to 8.4V), delivering significantly greater torque and responsiveness compared to standard voltage servos, which means sharper steering inputs and more aggressive throttle response for competitive RC driving.
- 8.0kg/cm Torque at 7.4V — The substantial torque output ensures the servo can handle demanding steering loads and rapid directional changes without lag or slippage, critical for maintaining control during aggressive cornering and high-speed manoeuvres on RC courses and trails.
- Ultra-Fast Speed Rating of 0.095 seconds at 7.4V — With response times in the millisecond range, this servo delivers near-instantaneous control feedback, allowing drivers to make micro-adjustments and maintain line precision that separates competitive racers from casual enthusiasts.
- Metal Gears — Constructed from durable metal rather than plastic, the internal gearing resists wear, deformation and stripping, ensuring the servo maintains consistent performance through hundreds of hours of use and surviving the vibrations and impacts inherent in RC driving.
- Dual Ball Bearing Design — Two precision ball bearings reduce friction and wobble in the servo shaft, enabling smoother operation, faster response times and extended mechanical lifespan under continuous use.
- Aluminium Case Construction — The servo housing incorporates partial aluminium construction for heat dissipation and durability, protecting internal components whilst keeping the servo lightweight enough for integration into modern RC platforms without adding excessive dead weight.
- Soft Start Mode Technology — This intelligent feature smooths the servo's initial engagement, reducing jarring movements and mechanical shock to your RC model's linkages and drivetrain, particularly valuable when connecting or powering up your vehicle.
- Sanwa SSR Full Compatibility — The Plus model integrates seamlessly with Sanwa SSR radio systems, one of the industry's most respected control platforms, giving you flexibility in radio system selection and ensuring future-proof compatibility.
- Compact Mini Profile — At just 35mm length, 15mm width and 27.4mm height, this servo fits into tight steering and throttle compartments on modern RC cars and trucks, allowing designers to optimise weight distribution and chassis layout without compromise.
- Lightweight at Only 30 Grams — The minimal weight footprint reduces unsprung mass on your RC model, improving suspension responsiveness, acceleration and handling characteristics whilst maintaining the rigidity needed for precision control.
- 25-Tooth Spline Horn — The standard servo horn features a widely-compatible spline configuration, allowing simple integration with existing linkage systems and offering aftermarket upgrade options from the extensive Savox accessories ecosystem.
- Extreme Voltage Range Performance — Test your servo across multiple voltage configurations: 6.0V delivers 5kg/cm torque, 7.4V provides 8kg/cm, and maximum 8.4V power offers an impressive 10kg/cm torque, giving you flexibility to match power output to your specific racing requirements and battery configuration.
Technical Performance
The SAVOX HV DIGITAL MINI SERVO 8.0KG/0.095@7.4V - PLUS SAV-SV1251MG+ represents a sophisticated engineering achievement, combining high-voltage digital processing with mechanical precision to deliver control characteristics that competitive RC enthusiasts expect. At 7.4V operation, the servo achieves a response time of just 0.095 seconds whilst generating 8kg/cm of torque, a combination that enables micro-precise steering inputs and smooth proportional throttle control essential for racing applications. The servo's performance scales dramatically across the voltage spectrum: operating at 6.0V produces a more conservative 5kg/cm torque with 0.11-second response time, ideal for gentler handling, whilst pushing to the maximum 8.4V rating unleashes 10kg/cm torque and 0.085-second speed for extreme performance demands. This voltage flexibility means the servo adapts to your specific battery configuration and driving style. The internal construction showcases Savox's commitment to durability and precision: metal gears resist the gear-stripping failures that plague plastic-geared competitors, whilst dual ball bearings minimise friction and wear in the output shaft. The partial aluminium case distributes heat effectively, preventing thermal throttling during extended racing sessions. Digital servo technology provides consistency across temperature ranges and ensures hold torque when stationary, eliminating the servo drift that plagued older analogue designs. These engineering features combine to create a servo suitable for everything from recreational RC car UK bash sessions to serious club racing and competition events.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the SAVOX SV1251MG+ suitable for beginners building their first RC car? — This is a professional-grade servo pitched at intermediate to advanced RC enthusiasts rather than absolute beginners. However, the straightforward installation, standard servo spline and Sanwa SSR compatibility make it accessible to anyone with basic RC car UK assembly knowledge. If you're building a ready to run RC model, installation takes minutes with just a servo connector and control linkage attachment.
- What voltage battery does this servo require? — The servo operates across a range of high-voltage battery configurations. A standard 2S LiPo battery provides 7.4V nominal voltage, which represents the rated specification where the servo delivers its benchmark 8kg/cm torque and 0.095-second speed. Some users run 2S batteries with 8.4V peak charge voltage for maximum performance, though this should only be attempted with servos specifically rated for high voltage operation as standard voltage servos will fail at this level.
- How does the Soft Start Mode benefit my RC setup? — Soft Start Mode provides graduated servo engagement rather than sudden full power activation. This means when you power on your RC car or connect the servo, it smoothly powers up without jarring movements that could damage servo linkages, bent pushrods or strain the transmitter gears. This is particularly valuable in competitive environments where reliability directly impacts race results.
- What is the difference between this SAVOX Plus model and standard SAVOX servos? — The Plus designation indicates this servo includes the latest Soft Start Mode technology and confirmed Sanwa SSR compatibility, representing Savox's newest generation. This makes the SV1251MG+ more suitable for modern radio systems and provides additional protective features for your RC model's mechanical components.
- Can this servo be used in waterproof RC cars and trucks? — Whilst the servo itself features robust construction, it is not rated as waterproof. For genuinely waterproof RC applications, you would need to install the servo in a sealed servo box or choose Savox's specifically waterproofed models designed for wet environment operation.
- What makes the metal gears important for my RC racing setup? — Metal gears resist the tooth-stripping failures that occur when plastic gears slip under high load, particularly during aggressive steering inputs or rapid directional changes. This durability is essential for racers where servo failure means disqualification or race-ending setbacks, making the investment in metal gearing a reliable insurance policy.
- How does the dual ball bearing design improve servo performance? — Ball bearings reduce friction in the servo output shaft, which directly translates to faster response times, smoother movement and less power draw from your battery. Over the course of a race, this efficiency advantage compounds, and the reduced friction means your servo operates cooler and lasts longer.
