Built with a robust all-aluminium case and featuring metal gear trains, this servo is constructed to withstand the demanding conditions of regular flying operations whilst maintaining accuracy and durability over extended periods of use.
For UK RC pilots looking to upgrade their glider control systems or build a new high-performance machine, the Savox SG1211MG offers outstanding value and proven performance credentials. It's capable of 2S LiPo operation, making it compatible with the vast majority of modern RC glider power systems. The servo's coreless motor technology provides smooth, responsive operation without the vibration and lag associated with conventional motors, whilst its digital control electronics ensure consistent performance across the full range of operating conditions.
Key Features
- Metal Gear Train — The servo features a durable metal gear train rather than plastic alternatives, ensuring extended service life even under repeated high-load operations typical in competitive glider flying. This substantially reduces wear and extends the interval between maintenance requirements.
- Specialist Glider Design — This servo has been engineered specifically for glider applications, with weight distribution, response characteristics and torque delivery optimised for the unique demands of RC glider control rather than being a generic servo adapted for this purpose.
- All-Aluminium Case — The robust aluminium housing provides secure mounting points for your aircraft whilst offering excellent vibration dampening and heat dissipation properties that help maintain performance during extended flying sessions.
- High-Voltage Operation — The servo operates across the 2S LiPo voltage range (6.0V to 7.4V), with enhanced performance available when running at the higher voltage, allowing you to optimise your power system for maximum servo responsiveness.
- Coreless Motor Technology — The servo utilises a coreless motor design that eliminates the cogging and vibration associated with conventional motors, delivering exceptionally smooth control movements and eliminating micro-oscillations that can degrade flight performance.
- Two Ball Bearings — The servo output shaft runs on two ball bearings rather than bushings, providing superior precision, reduced friction and improved longevity under the continuous rotational loads experienced during glider flight.
- Exceptional Speed Performance — At 7.4V, this servo achieves a 0.15-second response time for 60-degree travel, representing some of the fastest servo response times available in the UK RC market, critical for glider applications where rapid control surface adjustment is essential.
- Wide Operating Travel — With an operational range of 100 degrees and maximum travel capability approaching 165 degrees, this servo accommodates a broad spectrum of mechanical linkage configurations and control system designs.
- Lightweight Construction — Weighing just 29 grams, this servo contributes minimal dead weight to your aircraft, preserving wing loading characteristics and flight envelope dynamics whilst delivering full control authority.
Technical Performance
The Savox SG1211MG represents cutting-edge servo technology engineered specifically for the rigorous demands of competitive RC glider operations. The servo delivers 11.03kg of torque at 7.4V (rising to 153.1 ounce-inches in imperial measurements), providing exceptional authority over control surfaces whilst maintaining the responsiveness critical for thermal and slope soaring applications. The 0.15-second response time at 7.4V ensures your control inputs translate instantly to aircraft movement, eliminating the lag that can compromise precision flying. The all-aluminium case provides both structural rigidity and thermal management, whilst the metal gear train ensures durability without sacrificing speed or smoothness. Running current of 180mA at 7.4V demonstrates efficient power utilisation, minimising drain on your battery system during extended flights. The servo's 21-tooth output spline accommodates standard control horns found throughout the RC glider hobby, ensuring compatibility with most aircraft designs. Operating across the -10°C to +50°C temperature range, this servo performs consistently whether flying on crisp winter mornings or during summer thermal soaring sessions. The 333Hz refresh rate provides silky-smooth servo tracking and eliminates the stuttering associated with lower refresh-rate servos. The servo accepts a wide pulse width range from 800 to 2200 microseconds, providing flexibility in receiver configuration and allowing for customised travel ranges to suit your specific aircraft requirements. The robust construction, featuring the coreless motor design and dual ball bearings, ensures reliability and longevity for UK RC pilots flying regularly in various weather conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the Savox SG1211MG suitable for high-performance glider flying? — Absolutely. This servo is specifically designed for glider applications and delivers the speed, torque and precision required for competitive thermal soaring, slope soaring and thermal duration flying. The 0.15-second response time and 11.03kg torque make it ideal for precise control surface management.
- What battery voltage does this servo require? — The servo operates across 2S LiPo range from 6.0V to 7.4V. For optimal performance, a 7.4V (2S) battery is recommended, which delivers the specified 0.15-second speed and 11.03kg torque. At 6.0V, performance is slightly reduced with 0.18-second response time and 8.0kg torque.
- How does the coreless motor compare to conventional servo motors? — Coreless motors eliminate the cogging and vibration present in conventional designs, delivering exceptionally smooth control inputs without the micro-oscillations that can compromise flight precision. This is particularly important in glider applications where smooth, predictable control movements are essential.
- Will this servo work with my existing RC glider? — If your glider uses standard 21-tooth servo splines and accepts servo leads with standard three-wire connectors, this servo will be compatible. The wide pulse width range (800-2200 microseconds) ensures compatibility with virtually all modern RC receivers and transmitters.
- What is the servo's power consumption? — Running current is 180mA at 7.4V with no load, and idle current of just 5mA when the servo is not operating, minimising battery drain during flight operations. The stall current of 3700mA at 7.4V indicates the servo is capable of sustained high-load operation without overheating.
- Is this servo waterproof? — Whilst the servo features a robust aluminium case and sealed construction, it is not rated as fully waterproof. For glider applications, this is typically not a concern unless you are operating in rain or launching from water. Normal flying conditions in the UK, including moisture and humidity, present no operational difficulties.
- How does this compare to other glider servos available in the UK? — The SG1211MG combines exceptionally fast response time with substantial torque delivery, making it one of the premium options available for serious glider enthusiasts. The metal gear construction and digital electronics offer longevity advantages over cheaper alternatives, whilst the specialist glider design ensures optimal performance characteristics for this specific application.
- What is the servo's weight and will it affect my aircraft? — At just 29 grams, this servo contributes minimal weight to your aircraft, preserving wing loading and flight characteristics. For most modern glider designs, especially those intended for competition or serious flying, this weight penalty is negligible compared to the performance advantages delivered.
