  • Sanwa SSR Radio Compatibility — Full compatibility with modern Sanwa digital radio systems ensures you're not limited in your receiver choice and can take advantage of advanced radio features if you use this platform.
  • Ideal for Multiple Applications — The servo is specifically recommended for CCPM setup on 600 and 700 class helicopters as well as steering servo duty on 1/10th scale buggies, demonstrating its versatility across different RC disciplines.
  • 1 Year Manufacturer Warranty — Savox backs every servo with a full 1-year warranty, giving you peace of mind that your investment is protected against defects and manufacturing issues.

Technical Performance

The Savox SC1258TG+ represents the pinnacle of servo engineering, combining coreless motor technology with precision machining to deliver a servo that performs at the highest levels. The servo's coreless design eliminates the traditional rotating core found in conventional servos, resulting in a motor that is inherently smoother, more responsive, and more efficient. This engineering approach translates directly into better control response in your RC model, whether you're steering an RC buggy through tight corners or controlling helicopter pitch during aerobatic manoeuvres. The motor achieves its impressive performance through a refresh rate of 333Hz, which means position updates occur 333 times per second, providing buttery-smooth servo transitions and eliminating the stuttering or jerking that can occur with slower refresh rates. The 25-tooth output gear spline is a standard size that works with most servo horns available on the market, giving you flexibility in your control rod setups. Operating across the industry-standard 800-2200 microsecond pulse width range with a neutral position of 1500 microseconds, the servo integrates seamlessly with all popular RC radio systems. The aluminium case with integrated heat-sink design ensures that even during extended operation with high current draw, the servo maintains optimal temperature performance. The dual-bearing support system ensures smooth gear rotation and long-term reliability, whilst the titanium gear train can handle the extreme forces encountered in competitive RC racing and flying. Power consumption is extremely efficient, with idle current of just 5mA at both 4.8V and 6.0V, running current of 100-120mA under load, and stall current of 4000-5000mA when the servo is mechanically blocked — figures that are competitive with the best digital servos on the market.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What applications is the Savox SC1258TG+ suitable for? — The SC1258TG+ is ideal for CCPM (cyclic collective pitch mixing) on 600 and 700 class helicopters where precise, fast control is essential, and as a steering servo on 1/10th scale buggies and other RC cars where you need responsive, reliable control. The high torque output and fast response time make it suitable for both recreational and competitive applications.
  • How does the coreless motor compare to a standard motor servo? — Coreless motors eliminate the rotating armature core found in traditional designs, resulting in smoother operation with less cogging, faster response times, and improved efficiency. This means you get more precise control feedback, better feel through your transmitter, and a servo that runs cooler and more efficiently than comparable conventional servos.
  • What voltage should I run the Savox SC1258TG+? — The servo operates across both 4.8V and 6.0V nominal voltages. At 6.0V, you get maximum performance with 12kg of torque and 0.08-second speed. At 4.8V, you get 9.6kg of torque and 0.10-second speed. Most users prefer 6.0V for competitive applications to maximise performance, though 4.8V is acceptable for less demanding uses.
  • Is the weight figure of 52.4g accurate? — Yes, the specified weight of 52.4g excludes the servo horns and wires, so this is the actual servo case weight. This makes the servo approximately 20% lighter than comparable servos, which is significant when you're trying to optimise weight distribution in your RC model.
  • What is the operating temperature range? — The servo operates safely between -10°C and 50°C (-14°F to 122°F), making it suitable for year-round use in the UK climate. However, the integrated heat-sink design means you shouldn't approach the upper temperature limit during normal operation.
  • What is the difference between the SC1258TG+ and the standard SC1258TG? — The main differences in the Plus model are the addition of Soft Start Mode, which provides smoother servo engagement during startup, and full compatibility with Sanwa SSR digital radio systems. These features make the Plus model more versatile for users with modern radio equipment.
  • How many degrees of travel does the servo provide? — The servo provides approximately 100 degrees of operating travel on the standard pulse width range (1000-2000 microseconds) and approximately 130 degrees of maximum travel when extended pulse width commands are used (900-2100 microseconds).
  • Does this servo come with servo horns? — No, servo horns are not included. You will need to source horns separately. The servo uses a standard 25-tooth spline, which is the industry standard size and compatible with most aftermarket horns available from RC retailers.
  • Is the SC1258TG+ waterproof? — The specifications provided do not indicate that this servo is specifically waterproofed for submersion. Whilst the aluminium case provides some protection against moisture, it is not recommended for use in wet conditions or waterlogged environments. If you need waterproof servos for water-based RC models, you should look at servo models specifically rated for waterproof operation.
  • What refresh rate does the servo use and why does it matter? — The servo operates at 333Hz refresh rate, meaning it receives 333 position updates per second from your radio receiver. This extremely high refresh rate ensures smooth, fluid servo movement without stuttering or jitter, resulting in more precise control and better handling characteristics in your RC model.
  • Can I use this servo with any radio system? — Yes, the SC1258TG+ is compatible with all standard RC radio systems that use the PPM (pulse position modulation) protocol with standard servo connectors. The servo accepts pulse widths from 800-2200 microseconds, covering the full range of most digital radio systems. The Plus model specifically notes Sanwa SSR compatibility as an added feature.
