Key Features
- Coreless Motor Design — The coreless motor technology provides smooth, responsive servo operation with minimal vibration and excellent linearity, which is essential for precise control in competitive racing or technical crawling scenarios where every movement counts.
- Digital Circuitry — Digital servo circuitry delivers precise control, repeatability and responsiveness compared to analogue alternatives, ensuring your servo responds exactly as programmed every single time you move the transmitter stick.
- High Torque Output — Delivering an impressive 25kg (347 oz-in) of torque at 6V, this servo provides the raw power necessary to drive heavy steering loads, suspension linkages and mechanism actuation even in the most demanding off-road conditions.
- Fast Response Speed — With a response speed of just 0.16 seconds per 60 degrees at 6V, this servo reacts instantly to transmitter input, providing the kind of snappy steering response that makes RC cars feel alive and controllable.
- Metal Gear Train — The durable metal gear train ensures longevity and reliability through countless hours of bashing, racing and competition use, resisting wear and maintaining smooth operation throughout the servo's lifespan.
- Soft Start Mode — The new Plus model features Soft Start Mode technology, which gently ramps up servo movement to prevent shock loads and mechanical stress, extending component life and improving overall reliability.
- Sanwa SSR Compatibility — Full compatibility with Sanwa SSR receivers and systems means this servo integrates seamlessly into modern RC setups using the latest radio technology standards.
- Compact Standard Height — At the same height as the popular SAV-SW0231MG, this servo fits into standard servo mounting locations, making it an ideal direct replacement for factory servos in most RTR vehicles.
- Lightweight Construction — Weighing only 69g, this servo adds minimal weight to your RC model, helping maintain optimal weight distribution and agility, particularly important in racing and crawling applications.
- Wide Operating Range — With a 120-degree standard operating range and approximately 164 degrees maximum travel capability, this servo accommodates a variety of mechanical linkages and control geometries.
Technical Performance
The SC1201MG+ is engineered with precision and durability at its core, combining a coreless motor with a robust metal gear train to deliver consistent, reliable performance. At 6V (the preferred operating voltage for maximum performance), the servo produces 25kg of torque with a lightning-fast response time of just 0.16 seconds per 60-degree movement—perfect for snappy steering control in RC cars and trucks throughout the UK. The coreless motor design eliminates vibration and cogging that can plague traditional cored motors, resulting in smoother servo movement and more predictable handling characteristics. Running on 4.8V (two NiMH cells), the servo still delivers respectable 20kg of torque at 0.19 seconds per 60 degrees, making it flexible across different power supply configurations. The servo draws 350mA at 6V under no-load conditions and can pull up to 10,000mA when stalled at maximum torque, indicating the genuine power available for demanding steering and suspension actuation tasks. With a lightweight 69-gram package measuring just 40.7 x 20.0 x 42.4mm, this servo fits elegantly into space-constrained installations whilst delivering serious performance. The 25-tooth spline output gear is standard across the RC industry, ensuring compatibility with most aftermarket servo horns and linkages. Digital operation at 333Hz refresh rate provides responsive, precise control that feels immediate and intuitive to the driver, whether you're navigating tight technical terrain in a crawler or carving through corners in an off-road buggy.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the Savox SC1201MG+ Plus suitable for beginners and first-time RC builders? — Yes, absolutely. This servo is an excellent choice for beginners thanks to its straightforward installation, standard 25-tooth spline compatibility with most aftermarket horns, and reliable performance that won't let you down. The digital circuitry eliminates many of the nuances that can confuse newer pilots, delivering predictable, responsive control that helps build confidence.
- What battery voltage should I use with this servo? — The SC1201MG+ operates across a range of voltages, with 6V (two LiFe cells or three NiMH cells) providing maximum torque and speed performance. You can also run it at 4.8V (two cells) for slightly reduced but still impressive performance. Always ensure your battery voltage matches your servo's specifications and check your transmitter and receiver compatibility before powering up.
- How does the coreless motor design benefit my RC car or crawler? — Coreless motors eliminate the electromagnetic cogging and vibration present in traditional cored motors, resulting in smoother servo movement with better linearity and responsiveness. This means more precise steering inputs, better feel through the transmitter, and more predictable handling characteristics—particularly important in competitive racing and technical crawling where every millimetre of control matters.
- What makes this servo a great replacement for RTR crawler and truck servos? — The SC1201MG+ delivers the same standard height and mounting pattern as factory servos found in most ready-to-run models, making it a straightforward swap-in upgrade. You get significantly improved performance, digital precision, and Savox's proven reliability, all at a budget-conscious price point that won't break the bank.
- Is this servo waterproof for wet and muddy conditions? — Whilst the servo itself is not fully sealed or waterproof, it features standard construction designed for typical RC use. For serious water crossings or extended exposure to moisture, consider using a waterproof servo case or avoiding deep water submersion. Normal mud and splash are fine, but avoid prolonged waterlogging.
- What is the warranty and support situation with Savox servos? — Savox backs this servo with a full 1-year warranty from the date of purchase, covering manufacturing defects and failures under normal use. Savox customer service in the USA is known for being friendly, responsive and helpful, with quick answers to technical questions.
- How does the Soft Start Mode on the Plus model benefit my RC setup? — Soft Start Mode gently ramps up servo movement instead of applying full sudden motion, which reduces mechanical shock and stress on servo components, receiver electronics and chassis linkages. This extends the lifespan of your entire RC system whilst improving smoothness and reducing wear.
- What is Sanwa SSR compatibility and why does it matter? — Sanwa SSR (Serial Servo Receiver) is a modern radio system standard used by many contemporary RC transmitters and receivers. Full compatibility means this servo works seamlessly with Sanwa systems without any compatibility concerns, making it future-proof for modern RC setups.
