Key Features
- High Torque Output — Delivers a powerful 12kg (166.6 oz-in) of torque at 6.0V, providing the strength necessary to control large-scale aircraft surfaces with absolute authority, even during demanding 3D manoeuvres or aggressive scale flying.
- Coreless Digital Motor — The advanced coreless design eliminates cogging and friction, resulting in smoother operation, faster response times, and improved efficiency compared to traditional cored motors found in basic RC servos.
- Extreme Speed Performance — Operates at a blistering 0.08 seconds per 60 degrees at 6.0V, ensuring rapid response to pilot inputs and enabling quick, precise adjustments during complex aerobatic sequences or landing approaches.
- Titanium Gear Construction — Extremely strong titanium gears ensure exceptional durability and long service life whilst maintaining minimal weight, critical for large-scale aircraft where every gram affects performance.
- Aluminium Middle Case — The full aluminium construction allows for superior heat dissipation, keeping the servo operating at cooler temperatures even during extended flying sessions, which extends component lifespan and maintains consistent performance.
- Minimised Backlash Design — X-long backlash minimisation technology provides precision aerobatic airplane control with virtually zero play in the output shaft, ensuring that every control command translates directly into aircraft movement without dead zones.
- Dual Ball Bearing Support — Two ball bearings (2BB) provide smooth, reliable shaft rotation and extend the operational life of the servo, even under the constant stress of large-scale flying operations.
- Soft Start Mode — The Plus series feature introduces Soft Start Mode, preventing sudden torque spikes during power-up that could damage delicate aircraft linkages or cause unexpected control surface movements.
- Sanwa SSR Compatibility — Full compatibility with Sanwa SSR radio systems means you can integrate this servo seamlessly into modern RC setups without requiring additional adapters or workarounds.
- Larger Servo Horns Included — All SA servos come supplied with larger, longer servo horns specifically designed for aircraft applications, making installation more straightforward and ensuring optimal control surface movement without modification.
- Aircraft Rubber Mounting Hardware — Included vibration-damping rubber mounts help isolate the servo from airframe vibration, reducing noise and protecting the servo from premature wear caused by airframe oscillation during flight.
Technical Performance
The Savox SA1258TG+ represents cutting-edge servo engineering optimised for high-demand RC aircraft applications. At the heart of this servo lies a coreless digital motor that operates at an exceptionally rapid 0.08 seconds per 60 degrees when powered by a 6.0V battery supply, delivering the speed necessary for responsive control. The torque specification of 12kg (166.6 oz-in) at 6.0V provides substantial control authority for large-scale aircraft surfaces, whilst the servo also performs capably at 4.8V with 9.6kg (133.3 oz-in) of torque and 0.10-second speed ratings, offering flexibility in power supply configuration. The servo measures a compact 40.8mm in length by 20.2mm in width by 37.2mm in height, weighing just 64 grams, making it lightweight enough for aircraft where every gram impacts flight characteristics. The 25-tooth output spline provides standardised compatibility with most RC aircraft horns and linkages available in the UK market. Operating temperatures range from -10°C to 50°C, covering the full spectrum of UK flying conditions from winter frost to summer heat. The servo operates at a 333Hz refresh rate, ensuring smooth, jitter-free control response. The dual ball bearing construction provides smooth operation under continuous load, whilst the titanium and aluminium gear train delivers durability without excessive weight. Input pulse width ranges from 800 to 2200 microseconds with a neutral position at 1500 microseconds, providing 100 degrees of normal operating travel (approximately 130 degrees maximum travel), and operates at running currents of 120mA at 6.0V under no load conditions. A one-year manufacturer warranty protects your investment, and Savox stands behind these servos with excellent customer service based in the USA.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What voltage should I run this servo at for optimal performance? — This servo is rated for operation between 4.8V and 6.0V. For maximum torque and speed performance, use a 6.0V supply which delivers the full 12kg torque specification. At 4.8V it produces 9.6kg torque with slightly slower response at 0.10 seconds per 60 degrees. Most modern RC aircraft use 5-cell or 6-cell NiMH batteries, or 2S LiPo packs which provide approximately 7.4V (you should regulate to 6.0V with a dedicated servo regulator).
- Is the Savox SA1258TG+ suitable for beginners learning to fly large-scale RC aircraft? — Whilst this servo offers exceptional performance, it is specifically engineered for experienced pilots and large-scale aircraft applications. Beginners should consider whether their aircraft and flying style genuinely require this level of performance, as entry-level servos are perfectly adequate for learning fundamental flying skills.
- What is the difference between the SA1258TG and SA1258TG+ models? — The Plus (+) series introduces two significant improvements: Soft Start Mode, which prevents sudden torque spikes during power-up that could damage delicate linkages, and Sanwa SSR radio system compatibility, enabling seamless integration with modern Sanwa equipment. The SA1258TG standard version is discontinued, making the SA1258TG+ the current production model with these enhanced features.
- How does the coreless motor design benefit my RC aircraft? — Coreless motors eliminate the electromagnetic cogging produced by traditional iron-core motors, resulting in smoother, more consistent servo operation with less jitter and vibration. This translates directly to more stable aircraft control and reduced vibration transmitted to your airframe and camera (if equipped). The coreless design also improves efficiency, reducing power consumption and heat generation during extended flights.
- Will this servo work with my existing RC radio system? — The SA1258TG+ is a standard-format digital servo compatible with virtually all modern RC radio systems available in the UK market, including Futaba, Spektrum, JR, and Sanwa equipment. However, the Plus series specifically features Sanwa SSR compatibility for even more seamless integration. Always verify your specific radio system's servo compatibility before purchase.
- What is the backlash specification and why does it matter? — This servo features X-long backlash minimisation, meaning there is virtually no play between the input shaft and output gears. Backlash is critical in aerobatic flying because any delay or play in the control linkage introduces dead zones that prevent precise control inputs. With minimised backlash, every movement of your transmitter stick translates immediately into aircraft surface movement.
- Can I use this servo for applications other than aircraft? — Whilst this servo is specifically designed for RC aircraft, its high torque and speed make it suitable for other large-scale RC applications requiring precision control. However, the design optimisation and included mounting hardware are tailored for aircraft, so applications like rovers or ground vehicles may require different mounting solutions.
