This servo represents the latest generation of Savox servo technology, engineered to handle the demanding stresses of large scale flying whilst delivering the precision and reliability that serious RC pilots demand. Whether you're based in the UK or elsewhere, if you're looking for a high-performance servo for your RC aircraft, the SAV-SA1256TG+ combines power, accuracy and durability in a package that won't let you down when it matters most.
Trust Savox for your large scale model with this new updated range of high performance servos from Savox, especially designed to handle the stresses of large scale flying whether it be jet, 3D, or scale. The improved torque ratings and low gear backlash provide the ultimate in precise, accurate movement time after time, which is essential when you're relying on your servo to respond instantly during critical flight manoeuvres. All SA servos come supplied with larger, longer servo horns and aircraft rubber mounting hardware to make your build as trouble free as possible, getting you in the air faster and with greater confidence.
The SAV-SA1256TG+ is part of Savox's Plus/"plus" range, which features a new Soft Start mode and compatibility with Sanwa SSR receivers, giving you greater flexibility in how you set up your aircraft. This is a digital servo built with precision in mind, featuring minimised backlash specifically optimised for the flying surfaces of RC planes, ensuring that every control input translates into smooth, predictable aircraft response.
Key Features
- High Torque Output — With 20kg torque at 6.0V, this servo delivers substantial pulling power to control even the heaviest control surfaces on large scale aircraft without strain, allowing you to command larger surfaces with confidence and precision during all flight regimes.
- Coreless Digital Motor Design — The coreless motor technology means faster response times and smoother operation compared to traditional geared motors, with the servo responding to your control inputs at 0.15 seconds per 60 degrees at 6.0V, ensuring crisp control authority.
- Minimised Backlash Technology — Engineered with precision aerobatic airplane use in mind, the minimised backlash design eliminates the dead zone that can plague less precise servos, giving you the exact control feel you need for demanding flying styles including 3D manoeuvres.
- Titanium Gear Construction — The titanium gears ensure long life, exceptional durability and lighter weight compared to standard steel gears, meaning your servo will withstand thousands of hours of flying and remain responsive throughout its lifespan without wearing out.
- Full Aluminium Middle Case — The aluminium construction of the servo case helps dissipate heat more effectively, allowing the servo to operate at cooler temperatures even during extended flying sessions, which extends the component lifespan and maintains consistent performance.
- Soft Start Mode and Sanwa SSR Compatibility — The Plus/"plus" update includes new Soft Start mode functionality and full compatibility with Sanwa SSR receivers, giving you more options for building your ideal aircraft control system and smoother initialisation when powering up.
- Larger Servo Horns and Aircraft Rubber Mounts — Every servo comes supplied with larger, longer servo horns and aircraft rubber mounting hardware included in the box, saving you money and ensuring your first flight can happen without additional purchases or delays.
- 25 Tooth Spline Output — The standard 25 tooth spline ensures compatibility with the widest range of aircraft control linkages and horn options available in the UK market, making replacement and customisation straightforward.
- Two Ball Bearing Support — With 2BB (two ball bearing) support, the output shaft runs smoothly and tracks true, reducing friction and ensuring consistent, reliable operation flight after flight without binding or stiffness developing over time.
Technical Performance
The SAV-SA1256TG+ is engineered with coreless digital motor technology that delivers exceptional performance across all operating conditions. At 6.0V supply voltage, the servo produces an impressive 20.0kg of torque (277.7 oz-in), with response time of just 0.15 seconds per 60 degrees of travel. At 4.8V, the servo still delivers 16.0kg of torque with 0.18 second response time, making it flexible for various power source configurations. The servo operates across an impressive temperature range from -10°C to 50°C, with minimal running current draw of just 100mA at 4.8V and 120mA at 6.0V when unloaded, climbing to 4000mA at 4.8V or 5000mA at 6.0V under full stall conditions. The physical dimensions measure 40.3mm length by 20.2mm width by 37.2mm height, with a featherweight of just 52.4 grams, making it ideal for weight-sensitive large scale aircraft where keeping the centre of gravity correct is critical. The servo features a standard 100-degree operating travel band with maximum travel approaching 130 degrees, whilst the 333 Hz refresh rate ensures smooth, responsive operation without jitter or lag. Wire length is 200mm plus or minus 5mm, and the pulse width range spans from 800 to 2200 microseconds with neutral position at 1500 microseconds, making programming and setup straightforward with any standard RC receiver. Construction combines titanium gears for durability, an aluminium middle case for efficient cooling, and a full aluminium chassis design that balances strength with weight savings. The two ball bearing output shaft support ensures smooth operation and minimal friction, critical for precision flying where servo binding can cause control issues.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the Savox SAV-SA1256TG+ suitable for large scale RC aircraft? — Yes, this servo is specifically engineered for large scale RC aircraft including jets, 3D aerobatic planes and scale models. The 20kg torque output at 6.0V, minimised backlash design and precision coreless motor make it ideal for demanding flying applications where reliability and accuracy are paramount.
- What is the difference between the SAV-SA1256TG+ and the original SAV-SA1256TG? — The SAV-SA1256TG+ is an updated version that includes new Soft Start mode functionality and Sanwa SSR receiver compatibility, providing more flexibility in receiver selection and smoother power-up sequences. The original SAV-SA1256TG has been discontinued by the manufacturer, and the plus version is the recommended replacement.
- What voltage should I operate this servo at for best performance? — The servo is rated for both 4.8V and 6.0V operation. At 6.0V you get maximum torque of 20kg and fastest response of 0.15 seconds per 60 degrees, whilst 4.8V provides 16kg torque with 0.18 second response. Most users operate at 6.0V for best performance, though 4.8V operation is fully supported for lower power systems.
- How much does the servo weigh? — The servo weighs just 52.4 grams, which is lightweight enough for weight-sensitive large scale aircraft where maintaining proper centre of gravity balance is critical to flight performance.
- What does minimised backlash mean and why does it matter? — Backlash is the tiny amount of movement before the servo output moves in response to a control input. Minimised backlash design tightens this tolerance, so every control movement has instant effect without dead zones, critical for precision 3D flying and scale aerobatic manoeuvres where delayed response could cause control issues.
- Can I use this servo with my existing RC receiver? — The servo uses standard pulse width modulation control and works with virtually all RC receivers. The plus version offers specific compatibility with Sanwa SSR receivers, though it functions with any standard receiver. The 25 tooth spline output integrates with standard aircraft servo horns and linkages.
- What makes titanium gears better than steel? — Titanium gears are stronger, more durable and significantly lighter than traditional steel gears. They resist wear better even with thousands of flight cycles, maintain precision longer, and contribute less weight to your aircraft, all critical factors for large scale flying where reliability and weight savings directly impact flight performance.
- Does the servo come with mounting hardware? — Yes, the servo comes supplied with larger, longer servo horns and aircraft rubber mounting hardware included in the box, ready to use without additional purchases. The aircraft-specific rubber mounts help isolate vibration and protect the servo from shock loads during flight.
