These crawler tyres are engineered specifically for rock crawlers and trail trucks that tackle extreme terrain. With their specialist compound formulation, reinforced construction and precision manufacturing, the CR-Mallet tyres provide unmatched traction across loose, rocky and varied surfaces. If you're running an RC crawler in the UK and want to upgrade from stock tyres, or you're building a competition-grade setup, these Louise RC tyres are the professional choice that will transform your vehicle's ability to grip and climb.
What sets the CR-Mallet apart is Louise RC's obsessive attention to bonding quality, tyre compound engineering and overall durability. Every set is individually tested to ensure perfect adhesion between tyre and wheel. The super soft rubber compound grips like nothing else, whilst the precision foam inserts provide the exact dampening needed for technical terrain.
Key Features
- Super Soft Rubber Compound — The CR-Mallet tyres use a super soft racing-grade rubber compound that has been specifically formulated to deliver outstanding grip across diverse surfaces. This compound is particularly wear-resistant, providing exceptional road-handling precision and excellent traction on rock, dirt, sand and technical crawling terrain. The soft compound is ideal for lighter 1/18 and 1/24 scale crawler models.
- Mounted and Fully Glued Construction — These tyres come pre-mounted and permanently glued to the wheels, eliminating any need for assembly or additional bonding. Louise RC uses a special rubber cyanoacrylate adhesive that has been developed specifically for their products to guarantee a perfect, durable bond. The manufacturing process includes grinding and degreasing both the tyre rings and wheel surfaces to ensure optimal adhesion, with every finished tyre subjected to spinning and pulling tests to verify perfect bonding.
- Precision Foam Inserts — Each tyre is fitted with cut-to-size foam inserts of specific density, selected to guarantee perfect dampening and form stability during extreme driving. This engineering ensures your crawler maintains tyre shape and performance even during aggressive acceleration, jumping and high-impact terrain interaction.
- MFT Technology for Stability — Micro Fibre Technology (MFT) features a textile belt integrated into the rubber tread, preventing tyre ballooning and deformation during high-speed operations and powerful acceleration. This technology maintains consistent tyre diameter and shape, delivering increased stability, significantly more road contact and extended tyre life. MFT technology provides superior performance but may be slightly heavier and larger, so gear ratio adjustment and servo upgrade may be recommended.
- Professional-Grade Materials — The wheels are manufactured from a nylon composite mixture charged with fibre, specially developed by Dupont® for Louise RC. These materials are engineered to withstand extreme forces during cornering, jumping and technical crawling. The combination of material composition and design provides the flexibility and strength necessary for demanding RC operations.
- Dedicated Crawler Design — Unlike general-purpose RC tyres, the CR-Mallet is engineered exclusively for rock crawlers and crawler-class vehicles. The tyre profile, tread pattern and compound density are optimised for technical terrain, obstacle navigation and extreme traction requirements specific to the crawling discipline.
- 7mm Hex Connector — The wheels feature a standard 7mm hex adapter, making them compatible with the widest range of 1/18 and 1/24 scale crawlers. This universal fitment means you can upgrade multiple vehicles in your collection with the same high-performance tyres.
- 1.0 Inch Wheel Diameter — At precisely 57mm in diameter and 23mm in width, these tyres are engineered for proper scale proportion and ground clearance on 1/18 and 1/24 crawlers. The dimensions are critical for maintaining correct gear ratios, steering response and overall vehicle dynamics.
- Zero Off-Set Design — The wheels feature zero offset, meaning they sit flush with the vehicle's suspension geometry. This design choice ensures predictable handling, proper weight distribution and authentic scale appearance on your RC crawler.
- Black Finish — The wheels come finished in professional black, providing a clean, factory-appearance that suits any crawler build. Black wheels are also practical, masking dirt and brake dust that accumulates during trail use.
Technical Performance
The Louise RC CR-Mallet crawler tyres represent a significant step forward in 1/18 and 1/24 scale tyre technology. The super soft compound provides exceptional grip whilst maintaining durability through aggressive use, making these tyres suitable for both recreational bashers and competitive crawler drivers. The MFT textile reinforcement in the tread prevents the tyre ballooning that plagues standard tyres, maintaining consistent diameter even under extreme acceleration and impact. Wheel weight is optimised to balance rotational inertia without sacrificing structural strength, critical for 1/18 and 1/24 scale vehicles where unsprung weight significantly impacts handling. The 7mm hex connection provides a solid interface with standard axle shafts, and the nylon composite construction with fibre reinforcement ensures wheels withstand the enormous lateral forces encountered during rock crawling. The precision foam inserts are cut to exact specifications and selected for density to match the super soft compound, ensuring the tyre maintains form stability throughout the height of jumps, corner entry and high-grip operations. Manufacturing tolerances are extremely tight, with both tyre and wheel surfaces prepared through grinding and degreasing before bonding, and a special dosing machine ensures every tyre receives exactly the correct amount of adhesive. The result is a professional-grade crawler tyre that delivers reliability, grip and consistency session after session.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What 1/24 and 1/18 RC crawlers are compatible with the Louise RC CR-Mallet tyres? — These tyres are compatible with a wide range of vehicles including the Axial 1/24 AX24 XC-1, Axial SCX24 range (including Lexus GX 470, Ford Bronco, Base Camp, Toyota 4Runner, Chevrolet C10, Jeep Wrangler JLU, Jeep Gladiator, Dodge Power Wagon, and Deadbolt), and Traxxas TRX-4M range (including Ford Bronco and Land Rover Defender). Always verify compatibility using the manufacturer's tyre-wheel compatibility chart before purchasing.
- Are these tyres suitable for beginners? — Yes, the CR-Mallet tyres are an excellent upgrade for beginners moving beyond factory stock tyres. However, beginners should be aware that the super soft compound provides significantly more grip than standard tyres, which may overload a standard servo. Louise RC recommends upgrading your steering servo to handle the increased grip and traction provided by these professional-grade tyres. The pre-mounted design eliminates assembly complexity, making installation straightforward for newcomers to the hobby.
- What makes the CR-Mallet better than stock crawler tyres? — Stock tyres on ready-to-run RC crawlers typically use medium-compound rubber and simpler construction. The CR-Mallet uses a super soft racing-grade compound that grips significantly better across diverse terrain. The MFT textile reinforcement prevents ballooning, maintaining tyre shape and diameter under acceleration and impact, which stock tyres cannot achieve. The professional manufacturing process, including precision foam inserts and cyanoacrylate bonding with adhesion testing, ensures consistency and durability far exceeding mass-produced stock tyres. The result is dramatically improved traction, climbing ability and terrain handling.
- Do I need to adjust my gear ratio after fitting CR-Mallet tyres? — Yes, Louise RC explicitly recommends checking and potentially adjusting your gear ratio after fitting the CR-Mallet tyres. These tyres, particularly those with MFT technology, may be slightly heavier and larger than standard tyres. The increased grip and traction can also affect acceleration characteristics. Gear ratio adjustment ensures optimal top speed, acceleration and motor efficiency for your specific vehicle setup.
- Should I upgrade my servo when fitting these tyres? — Louise RC strongly recommends updating to a higher-torque steering servo when fitting the CR-Mallet tyres. The super soft compound provides exceptional grip on all terrain types, resulting in significantly increased steering forces during cornering and technical sections. A standard servo may struggle to handle these forces, leading to sluggish steering response or servo damage. A higher-spec servo will maintain precise control and prevent potential equipment damage.
- Are these tyres pre-glued and ready to use? — Yes, the CR-Mallet tyres come pre-mounted and permanently glued to the wheels. The tyres are ready to install directly onto your vehicle with no additional assembly, bonding or waiting for adhesive to cure. Each set passes rigorous quality control testing including spinning and pulling tests to ensure perfect adhesion before leaving the factory.
- What is MFT Technology and why does it matter? — MFT stands for Micro Fibre Technology and refers to a textile belt woven into the rubber tread of the tyre. This reinforcement prevents the tyre from deforming and ballooning during high-speed acceleration and extreme driving conditions. Standard tyres without MFT experience significant changes in diameter under load, distorting vehicle geometry and reducing traction. MFT technology maintains consistent tyre shape, significantly increases road contact, provides better stability and extends overall tyre life. The trade-off is that MFT tyres may be slightly heavier and larger, which is why Louise RC recommends checking gear ratios.
- How durable are the Louise RC CR-Mallet tyres? — The super soft compound is specifically formulated to be wear-resistant whilst providing maximum grip, balancing durability with performance. The MFT reinforcement extends tyre life by preventing ballooning and deformation. The precision foam inserts protect the tyre from impact damage. Combined with the professional manufacturing standards including adhesion testing on every set, the CR-Mallet tyres are engineered for extended reliability even under competitive use. Tyre life depends on driving style, terrain and frequency of use, but these are significantly more durable than stock alternatives.
- What terrain are these tyres designed for? — The CR-Mallet tyres are engineered specifically for rock crawling terrain and technical obstacle navigation. They excel on rocky surfaces, loose dirt, sand, gravel and mixed terrain typical of rock crawling events and trail driving. The super soft compound grips effectively on loose surfaces, whilst the MFT reinforcement maintains stability on rocky, uneven terrain. The tyres are particularly suited to technical driving that requires precise traction control and excellent grip for climbing steep obstacles.
