Overview
The FTX Rally MK2RS Spring Steel Centre Driveshaft (R) is a premium replacement component designed specifically for the FTX MK2RS 1/10th brushless rally car. This high-quality driveshaft is engineered to deliver reliable power transmission, enhanced durability and improved performance on both track and terrain. Whether you're a dedicated rally enthusiast running an FTX MK2RS in the UK or an experienced RC car builder looking to upgrade your existing setup, this genuine FTX spare part ensures your ready to run RC model maintains peak performance during intense driving sessions.
As a critical drivetrain component, the centre driveshaft is responsible for transmitting power from your motor and gearbox to the wheels, making it one of the most important parts in your RC rally car's mechanical system. The spring steel construction provides the ideal balance between strength and flexibility, allowing the shaft to handle the demanding torque loads generated by brushless motors whilst absorbing vibration and shock from uneven surfaces. This genuine FTX part is manufactured to OEM specifications and is the perfect choice for drivers who demand reliability and performance from their RC vehicles.
Replacing a worn, bent or damaged driveshaft with this premium spring steel component will restore your FTX MK2RS to like-new condition and help prevent further damage to your gearbox and drivetrain. Part of FTX's comprehensive range of genuine spares and hop-up upgrades, this centre driveshaft is in stock and ready to ship, making it the ideal solution for keeping your brushless RC rally car running at its best.
Key Features
- Spring Steel Construction — The driveshaft is manufactured from high-grade spring steel, which offers superior strength and durability compared to standard steel alternatives. This material choice ensures the shaft can withstand the continuous torque and shock loads generated by a brushless motor, whilst remaining flexible enough to absorb vibration and prevent catastrophic failure under extreme driving conditions.
- Centre Position Design — This is specifically the centre driveshaft, meaning it connects the mid-section of the drivetrain, making it a critical component in the power delivery chain. A quality centre driveshaft ensures smooth, efficient power transmission from your gearbox to the differential and ultimately to the wheels.
- Right-Hand (R) Configuration — This is the right-hand version of the driveshaft, designed to fit the right side of your FTX MK2RS rally car. FTX supplies both left and right versions as separate parts to ensure you have the correct orientation for your vehicle.
- OEM Genuine FTX Component — This is an official FTX factory spare part, not a third-party copy or knock-off. Using genuine OEM parts guarantees perfect fitment, compatibility and the performance characteristics FTX engineers designed into your rally car.
- Drop-In Replacement — The driveshaft is designed as a direct replacement for the original component in your FTX MK2RS, requiring no modification, adjustment or adaptation. Simply remove the old shaft and install the new one for immediate improved performance.
- Enhanced Reliability — Over time and through regular use, driveshafts can develop bends, cracks or stress fractures that compromise power transmission and can cause vibration, noise and potential damage to connected components. A new spring steel driveshaft eliminates these issues and restores smooth operation.
- Compatible with Brushless Power — The FTX MK2RS is a brushless rally car, and this driveshaft is specifically engineered to handle the higher torque and RPM demands of brushless motors, making it the perfect match for your vehicle's powertrain.
Technical Performance
The FTX Rally MK2RS Spring Steel Centre Driveshaft represents precision engineering designed for the demands of 1/10th scale RC rally racing and bashing. Manufactured from high-grade spring steel, this component combines tensile strength with the flexibility needed to absorb impacts and vibration generated during aggressive driving on varied terrain and track surfaces. The spring steel construction is significantly more durable than basic steel alternatives, offering better resistance to bending and fatigue whilst maintaining the elasticity required for smooth power delivery. The centre position of this shaft means it sits at the heart of your drivetrain, directly responsible for translating motor torque into wheel rotation. In the FTX MK2RS brushless rally car platform, this becomes particularly critical as brushless motors deliver consistent, high-torque power across the RPM range, placing greater demands on drivetrain components than brushed alternatives. The right-hand configuration ensures proper alignment and fitment within your vehicle's gearbox and differential assembly. The OEM FTX engineering guarantees that material thickness, diameter tolerances and balance are precisely matched to your MK2RS specifications, ensuring vibration-free operation and maximising the lifespan of connected components including your transmission, differential and motor bearings. Regular inspection and replacement of driveshafts is part of good RC maintenance practice, as worn or bent shafts can introduce play into the drivetrain, reducing efficiency and increasing wear on other components.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Which FTX models is this driveshaft compatible with? — This centre driveshaft is designed specifically for the FTX MK2RS 1/10th brushless rally car, available in both white (FTX5470W) and black (FTX5470BK) colour options. Whilst other FTX vehicles exist across their range including crawler and buggy models, this part is engineered exclusively for the rally platform.
- Why would I need to replace my driveshaft? — Driveshafts can become bent through crashes or impacts, develop stress fractures from repeated high-torque loading, or suffer damage from contamination and wear. A damaged or worn driveshaft will cause vibration, noise, reduced power transmission efficiency and can lead to failure of other drivetrain components. Replacing it is a preventative maintenance step that keeps your RC rally car running smoothly.
- Is this a left or right driveshaft? — This is the right-hand (R) version. The FTX MK2RS requires both left and right driveshafts, and they are sold separately. Make sure you order the correct orientation for your vehicle's drivetrain.
- Will this fit my FTX MK2RS immediately? — Yes, this is a direct OEM replacement component. There is no modification, adjustment or adaptation required. Simply remove the old driveshaft and install this one. It's designed as a drop-in replacement.
- What makes spring steel better than regular steel? — Spring steel offers superior tensile strength and flexibility compared to standard steel. It resists bending and fatigue better, can absorb vibration and shock more effectively, and maintains its shape under sustained stress. This makes it ideal for driveshaft applications where high torque loads are combined with impact forces.
- How often should I replace my driveshaft? — There is no set interval. Replace your driveshaft whenever it shows visible damage, becomes bent or misaligned, causes vibration or noise, or as part of a major drivetrain rebuild. Many RC bashers carry spare driveshafts for competition and racing to ensure peak performance.
