Overview

The Fastrax 3 X 7 X 3mm Bearing Shielded FTBB19 is a precision miniature bearing designed for RC enthusiasts across the UK who demand reliability and performance from their models. Whether you're running a high-speed RC car, a nimble crawler, or any RC vehicle that requires smooth, dependable rotation, this shielded bearing delivers the durability and precision engineering you need. Fastrax has established itself as a trusted manufacturer of quality RC spare parts and upgrades, and this compact bearing represents the kind of attention to detail that keeps your RC models running smoothly lap after lap.

Shielded bearings are essential components in modern RC vehicles, protecting the internal ball races from dirt, dust and moisture whilst maintaining smooth rotational movement. The 3 x 7 x 3mm size makes this bearing suitable for a wide range of RC applications, from motor shafts to drive shafts and countless other rotating components found in modern RC cars and trucks. If you're building an RC model from scratch, restoring a well-loved vehicle, or simply replacing worn bearings to restore your RC car's performance, the Fastrax shielded bearing is a cost-effective, quality solution that RC enthusiasts across the UK rely upon.

This single bearing comes ready to install and offers exceptional value for money. The shielded design means you get the protection benefits without compromising on the compact dimensions, making it ideal for tight spaces where larger sealed bearings simply won't fit. For anyone serious about maintaining their RC collection in peak condition, having quality replacement bearings like the FTBB19 on hand is essential maintenance practice.

Key Features

  • Shielded Design — The metal shields on both sides of the bearing protect the internal ball races from ingress of dirt, dust and moisture, which is critical in RC applications where models are used outdoors and in challenging environments. This protective design extends bearing life and maintains smooth performance even in dusty conditions.
  • Precision 3 x 7 x 3mm Dimensions — The compact 3mm bore diameter, 7mm outer diameter and 3mm width make this bearing compatible with a huge range of RC vehicle components and custom builds. The precise dimensional tolerance ensures it will fit correctly into existing housings and shafts without wobbling or binding.
  • Smooth Rotational Performance — Like all quality bearings, the FTBB19 delivers frictionless rotation that reduces power loss and heat generation in your RC vehicle. Smooth bearings mean faster acceleration, better efficiency and longer runtimes on a single charge when using electric RC cars.
  • Universal RC Compatibility — Thanks to its standard 3 x 7 x 3mm specification, this bearing works across multiple RC vehicle platforms and manufacturers. Whether you're running Traxxas, Losi, Team Associated, HPI or any other brand of RC car, this bearing size is widely used throughout the hobby.
  • Single Bearing Unit — You receive one bearing, making this ideal for targeted replacements when a single bearing has worn out or failed. Having spares in this size is recommended for regular RC enthusiasts.
  • Affordable Quality Spare — Priced accessibly, the Fastrax shielded bearing represents excellent value for a precision component. Investing in quality bearings from established manufacturers like Fastrax is far more cost-effective than replacing an entire drivetrain due to bearing failure.

Technical Performance

The Fastrax 3 X 7 X 3mm Bearing Shielded FTBB19 is engineered to precise tolerances that meet the demands of competitive and recreational RC enthusiasts alike. The shielded configuration uses metal seals rather than full rubber seals, striking an ideal balance between protection and rotational efficiency. This design philosophy is preferred in RC applications because it provides excellent dirt and moisture exclusion whilst minimising drag and maintaining the low friction characteristics that RC vehicles demand. The bearing's 3mm bore is designed to fit standard RC motor shafts, drive shafts and other common RC vehicle components, ensuring reliable performance whether you're running electric brushless motors at high RPM or traditional brushed setups. The outer diameter of 7mm is sized appropriately to accommodate the bearing within standard RC gearbox housings and suspension components. The 3mm width is particularly important for applications with space constraints, allowing this bearing to fit where larger, wider bearings simply cannot. The bearing's construction ensures smooth, quiet operation and helps reduce vibration throughout your RC vehicle, which in turn improves handling characteristics and reduces wear on other drivetrain components. For those upgrading from standard plastic bushings to quality ball bearings, the performance improvement is immediately noticeable in terms of responsiveness and durability. This bearing maintains its performance across the temperature ranges typically experienced during RC bashing sessions, whether on hot summer days or cooler winter conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is a shielded bearing and why do RC cars need them? — Shielded bearings feature metal or plastic protective seals on one or both sides that prevent dirt, sand, dust and moisture from entering the bearing's internal ball races. In RC vehicles, especially those used outdoors or on dusty tracks, contamination can cause bearings to wear out quickly and lose smoothness. Shielded bearings extend bearing life significantly whilst maintaining good rotational efficiency, making them the preferred choice for most RC enthusiasts.
  • Will the Fastrax 3 X 7 X 3mm bearing fit my RC car? — This bearing's 3 x 7 x 3mm dimensions are a standard size used in many RC vehicles across different manufacturers. Common applications include motor shafts, drive shafts and various drivetrain components. However, you should verify the bearing size required for your specific model before ordering. Check your vehicle's manual or contact the manufacturer if you're unsure whether this bearing size is compatible with your particular RC car or truck.
  • What is the difference between shielded and sealed bearings? — Shielded bearings use metal or plastic shields that sit close to but not in contact with the bearing races, providing good protection against contamination whilst allowing for lower friction and easier rotation. Sealed bearings use rubber seals that fit into a groove in the bearing, creating a tighter seal that excludes more contamination but can generate slightly more friction and drag. For most RC applications, shielded bearings like the FTBB19 offer the best balance of protection and performance.
  • How often should I replace bearings in my RC car? — The lifespan of RC bearings depends on how intensively you use your model and the conditions in which you operate it. Bearings used frequently in dusty or wet conditions will wear out faster than those used occasionally in clean conditions. Many RC enthusiasts replace bearings every few seasons or when they notice a loss of smoothness or increased noise from the drivetrain. Keeping spare bearings on hand means you can make quick repairs and get back to enjoying your RC hobby without extended downtime.
  • Is this bearing suitable for high-speed RC applications? — Yes, the Fastrax shielded bearing is designed for typical RC vehicle speeds and applications. The shielded design minimises friction whilst providing excellent protection, making it suitable for both casual bashing and more serious racing applications. However, for extremely high-speed competition applications, you may want to consult with specialist racing suppliers to ensure you have the optimal bearing specification for your particular racing class and vehicle setup.
