Key Features
- Premium Steel Construction — This pinion gear is manufactured from hardened steel rather than cheaper plastic or lower-grade metal, ensuring exceptional durability and wear resistance even under intense driving conditions and repeated acceleration cycles.
- M0.5 Metric Module — The M0.5 specification means this gear is designed to mesh perfectly with M0.5 spur gears commonly found across most popular RC car platforms, delivering smooth power transmission and minimal backlash.
- 21-Tooth Configuration — The 21-tooth count strikes an excellent balance in the acceleration versus top speed equation, making it suitable for a wide range of driving styles and terrain types from carpet to outdoor bashings.
- 2.3mm Bore Diameter — The precisely machined 2.3mm bore ensures a secure fit on standard RC electric motor shafts without wobbling or slipping, maintaining consistent engagement and power delivery.
- Wide Compatibility — This pinion gear is suitable for use with numerous RC platforms including Element Enduro, HPI crawlers, Mugen vehicles, Rival MT10 models, Tamiya platforms, Team Associated RC cars, Team Losi vehicles, Traxxas TRX-4 crawlers, and various Axial Racing models.

Technical Performance
The Fastrax M0.5 21T Steel Pinion Gear delivers exceptional technical performance characteristics that make it a trusted choice for RC car UK enthusiasts. The steel construction provides significantly greater hardness and durability compared to nylon or plastic alternatives, resisting stripping and wear even under the demands of high-torque electric motors running on 2S or 3S LiPo batteries. The precision machining ensures minimal runout and perfect tooth engagement with compatible M0.5 spur gears, resulting in smooth power transmission with virtually no backlash that could compromise handling or create unwanted noise during acceleration. The 21-tooth count provides a versatile gear ratio that works well across various motor KV ratings, from lower-torque high-speed brushless motors to higher-torque crawler-oriented setups. Whether you're running a competition-grade RC buggy requiring precision engineering or a casual basher truck, this pinion gear maintains consistent performance across repeated use cycles. The 2.3mm bore diameter is precision-engineered to international standards, ensuring compatibility across multiple manufacturers' motor shafts without requiring adapters or spacers. This pinion gear is engineered for longevity and reliability, making it an essential component for anyone serious about maintaining their brushless RC cars and electric buggies in optimal working condition.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the Fastrax M0.5 21T pinion gear compatible with my RC car? — This gear is compatible with any RC vehicle using M0.5 metric module gearing with a 2.3mm motor shaft bore. This includes popular platforms such as Traxxas TRX-4 crawlers, Axial Racing models, Team Associated buggies, Team Losi vehicles, Tamiya RC cars, HPI crawlers, Mugen platforms, Rival MT10 trucks, and Element Enduro models. Check your vehicle's manual or motor specifications to confirm M0.5 compatibility before purchasing.
- What is the difference between M0.5 and other metric pinion gears? — The M0.5 specification refers to the metric module, which determines the tooth pitch and spacing. M0.5 gears are designed to mesh with M0.5 spur gears and will not fit correctly with M1.0 or other module sizes. Using the correct module ensures smooth engagement, minimal noise, and optimal power transmission.
- Why choose steel over plastic pinion gears? — Steel pinion gears offer superior durability and longevity compared to nylon or plastic alternatives, particularly when running high-torque electric motors. Steel resists stripping and wear far more effectively, meaning fewer replacements over time and better value for money.
- What motor shaft size does this gear fit? — The 2.3mm bore diameter fits standard RC electric motor shafts that measure 2.3mm in diameter. This is a common size across brushless and brushed RC motors used in 1/10 scale and smaller vehicles.
- Is this suitable for beginners? — Yes, this pinion gear is suitable for anyone maintaining or upgrading their RC car, from complete beginners to experienced racers. Installation is straightforward and requires only basic tools.
- What should I look for when replacing my pinion gear? — Replace your pinion gear if you notice slipping during acceleration, grinding noises, or visible tooth damage. The Fastrax M0.5 21T is an excellent replacement choice for keeping your RC car performing at its best.
