Overview

The Fastrax Racing Pure Silicone Oil 35Wt is a premium shock and differential oil designed for serious RC enthusiasts and competitive racers across the UK who demand consistency and precision in their RC car setup. This specialist lubricant has been meticulously developed and tested over twelve months by some of Europe's leading RC drivers, ensuring it delivers the performance characteristics that separate winners from the rest. Whether you're running a competitive RC buggy, truck, or crawler, this silicone oil provides the tuning flexibility you need to optimise your vehicle's handling across varying track and weather conditions.

The Fastrax Racing Pure Silicone Oil range represents a breakthrough in RC lubricant engineering. Unlike generic oils, this purpose-built formulation has undergone rigorous testing in the most demanding conditions—from the scorching heat of Spanish racing circuits to the wet, unpredictable weather of UK tracks. The result is an oil that maintains exceptional consistency and predictable performance regardless of environmental factors, giving you the confidence to push your RC car to its limits without worrying about oil behaviour shifting between runs. For anyone serious about RC racing in the UK or competing at national level, having the right oil viscosity is crucial to dialling in your car's suspension response and ensuring repeatable lap times.

What sets this oil apart is the comprehensive range of viscosities available, allowing drivers to fine-tune their suspension characteristics for specific track conditions, weather, and driving styles. The 35Wt specification sits in the mid-range of the Fastrax lineup, making it versatile enough for a wide variety of RC vehicles and suitable for many common racing scenarios. The convenient easy-pour lid design means you can change your oil quickly and efficiently between practice sessions or races, saving valuable time and eliminating the frustration of messy spills that used to accompany oil changes.

Key Features

  • 35Wt Viscosity Rating — The 35 weight specification provides a balanced viscosity that works well across a wide range of RC applications and track conditions, offering moderate damping characteristics that suit most drivers and vehicle setups without requiring extreme tuning adjustments.
  • Pure Silicone Formulation — Pure silicone offers superior stability and consistency compared to mineral-based alternatives, maintaining predictable performance across temperature variations and extended storage periods, which is essential for reliable race day performance.
  • 400 cSt Rating — The 400 centistoke measurement indicates the oil's kinematic viscosity at 40 degrees Celsius, providing precise technical specification that allows RC engineers and racers to make informed decisions about which viscosity best suits their specific vehicle setup and driving conditions.
  • Developed by European Racing Professionals — This oil was tested and refined by some of Europe's leading RC drivers who compete at the highest levels, meaning the formulation has real-world validation from experts who understand exactly what competitive drivers need from their lubricants.
  • Tested in Extreme Conditions — Comprehensive testing across diverse environments including hot Spanish tracks and wet UK conditions ensures the oil performs consistently in heat, cold, moisture, and varied terrain, giving you confidence in any weather.
  • Easy-Pour Lid Design — The thoughtfully engineered pouring lid makes oil changes quick and mess-free, reducing the time you spend on maintenance so you can focus more on driving, practice, and racing rather than struggling with difficult oil bottles.
  • Outstanding Consistency Progression — Drivers consistently report that the Fastrax range offers superior consistency and progression across different viscosities, meaning you can confidently experiment with adjacent weight oils knowing each will perform predictably and help you isolate the perfect setup for your car.

Technical Performance

The Fastrax Racing Pure Silicone Oil 35Wt delivers exceptional technical performance through its carefully formulated pure silicone base. At 400 cSt viscosity, this oil provides the ideal balance of flow characteristics and damping properties for shock absorbers and differential units in modern RC racing vehicles. The pure silicone composition ensures temperature stability—critical for RC racing where components experience rapid temperature changes during intense practice sessions and races. Unlike cheaper mineral oils that can become too thin when hot or too thick when cold, this silicone formulation maintains its viscosity characteristics across the operating range you'll encounter in real UK racing conditions. The engineering behind this oil reflects months of testing with professional European drivers who provided feedback on performance metrics including suspension response, consistency lap-to-lap, adjustability, and long-term reliability. The 35Wt specification sits in the versatile middle section of the Fastrax range, making it suitable for a broad spectrum of RC cars including buggies, trucks, and crawler vehicles. The oil's ability to maintain consistency across varying conditions means you can concentrate on driving technique and vehicle setup tuning rather than worrying about your oil behaving differently in qualifying versus main racing. For competitive RC racers in the UK seeking a professional-grade lubricant that delivers repeatable results, this oil represents a significant upgrade from standard options available at typical RC hobby shops.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What viscosity should I choose for my RC car setup? — The 35Wt specification is a versatile mid-range viscosity suitable for most RC racing applications and track conditions. If you find your suspension feeling too stiff, you might consider a lighter weight; if it's too soft, a heavier weight may help. The Fastrax range offers multiple viscosity options allowing you to dial in the perfect setup for your specific car and driving style.
  • Why is pure silicone oil better than mineral oil for RC cars? — Pure silicone maintains consistent viscosity across temperature variations, which is crucial because RC components experience rapid heating during intense driving. Mineral oils can thin out when hot or thicken when cold, making your suspension behaviour unpredictable. Silicone provides the stability professional racers need for repeatable performance.
  • Is this oil suitable for beginners? — While this oil was developed for competitive racers, it's equally suitable for beginners and casual RC enthusiasts. The 35Wt is a good starting point for most applications. Beginners will benefit from using quality oil from the start, as it helps their cars perform more predictably whilst they're learning driving technique.
  • What makes Fastrax oils different from other RC oils? — Fastrax oils were rigorously tested and developed over twelve months by European racing professionals in real track conditions ranging from Spanish heat to UK rain. Drivers consistently report these oils offer superior consistency and smoother progression across the viscosity range compared to generic alternatives, enabling better tuning flexibility.
  • How often should I change my shock and differential oil? — Oil change frequency depends on how much you use your RC car. For regular racers, many drivers change oil every few months or after 20-30 hours of driving. Check your specific vehicle's manual for recommendations, but using quality oil means you can go longer between changes with consistent performance.
  • Will this oil work in all RC car brands? — Yes, this is a universal shock and differential oil suitable for any RC car using standard shock absorbers and differentials, including Traxxas, Losi, Team Associated, Tamiya, HPI, and all other major RC brands used in the UK.
