Technical Performance
The Etronix ET0279 is engineered to provide reliable electrical connectivity across six different connector standards commonly encountered in RC hobbies. The 4mm plug interface serves as the centralised connection point, allowing connection to standard chargers, power supplies, and battery adapters that feature 4mm sockets. The lead employs quality conductor materials to ensure good electrical conductivity with minimal voltage drop during charging operations, which is critical for maintaining efficient power transfer and protecting your batteries. The PVC insulation is selected for durability and flexibility, allowing the lead to be coiled or arranged neatly without cracking or degrading, even with regular use in workshop and field environments. Each of the six connectors—Glow, Tamiya, Deans, JR TX+Rx, and Futaba TX+Rx—is securely attached and engineered to mate reliably with its corresponding socket type, ensuring that connections remain tight and dependable throughout the lead's operational life. The construction ensures compatibility with standard RC battery voltages from single-cell glow plugs (1.5V nominal) through to multi-cell LiPo batteries (up to 6S and beyond, depending on charger capability). This lead represents quality engineering that reflects Etronix's experience in RC accessory manufacturing, providing the reliability and versatility expected by serious RC enthusiasts operating multiple vehicles and radio systems.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What exactly is the 4mm plug and why does this lead use it? — The 4mm plug is a universal connector standard widely used on battery chargers, power supplies, and charging adapters in the RC hobby. It provides a centralised connection point that allows one lead to connect to multiple different battery and radio connectors, making it extremely practical for users who operate multiple RC models with different connector types.
- Is this lead suitable for beginners? — Yes, this lead is excellent for beginners because it solves one of the common frustrations newcomers face when starting in the RC hobby—dealing with multiple different connector types. Rather than needing to purchase separate leads for each connector type, this single multi-connector lead covers most of the popular standards, making it a cost-effective and convenient choice for anyone new to RC.
- Can I use this lead with nitro and electric RC cars? — Yes, this lead is designed to work with both nitro-powered RC cars (through the glow plug connector) and electric RC cars (through the Tamiya, Deans, and other battery connectors). This makes it genuinely versatile for users who run multiple types of RC vehicles.
- Will this lead work with my existing charger? — The 4mm plug will work with any charger that features a 4mm socket, which is the standard connector found on most RC chargers and power supplies sold in the UK. If your charger has different connector types, you would need separate leads or adapters for those specific connections.
- What is the difference between Deans, Tamiya, and Futaba connectors? — These are three different physical connector designs developed by different manufacturers. Tamiya connectors are found on many traditional RC models and are relatively compact. Deans connectors (Dean's Ultra Connector) are larger and designed for high-current applications, making them popular in competitive racing. Futaba and JR connectors are specific to radio systems from those manufacturers. This lead includes all of them, giving you maximum flexibility.
- Is the PVC insulation important? — Yes, the PVC insulation serves several important purposes: it provides electrical safety by insulating the conductors, it protects the internal wires from damage and corrosion, and it makes the lead easy to identify and use safely. Quality PVC insulation also maintains flexibility even in cold conditions and resists cracking from repeated coiling and uncoiling.
- Can I use this for charging batteries or just for connecting equipment? — This lead is specifically designed for charging applications and connecting chargers to batteries through various connector types. The 4mm plug connects to your charger, and the other connectors attach to your battery's specific connector type, allowing safe and reliable charging.
