Overview
The Corally Shock Oil Ultra Pure Silicone 47.5 WT is an essential maintenance product for RC enthusiasts across the UK who demand precision performance from their shock absorbers. Whether you're running a competitive RC car at the track or enjoying weekend bashing sessions, the quality of your shock oil directly impacts your vehicle's handling, suspension response, and overall performance. This premium silicone oil from Team Corally is engineered to deliver consistent damping characteristics, ensuring your shocks perform predictably lap after lap.
Maintaining your RC car's suspension system is just as important as choosing the right chassis or motor, and shock oil is the critical fluid that makes it all work. The 47.5 WT viscosity grade sits in the mid-range of damping options, making it suitable for a wide variety of RC vehicles and driving conditions. Whether you're tuning your suspension for grip on tarmac, adjusting for loose dirt surfaces, or finding the sweet spot between comfort and responsiveness, having the right shock oil is fundamental to getting the best from your RC car UK setup.
Team Corally has built a reputation for quality RC components and consumables, and this shock oil represents their commitment to pure, consistent performance. When you're investing time and money into your RC hobby, using genuine, quality shock oil ensures that your suspension system delivers the damping performance the manufacturer intended, without compromise or degradation over time.
Key Features
- 100% Pure Silicone Formula — This shock oil is manufactured from ultra-pure silicone, which means there are no additives, fillers or impurities that could affect viscosity stability or cause sludge buildup in your shocks over time. Pure silicone oil maintains consistent damping characteristics across a range of temperatures, ensuring your suspension performs reliably whether you're racing in summer heat or winter cold.
- 47.5 WT Viscosity Grade — The WT (weight) marking indicates the viscosity rating, with 47.5 WT representing a medium damping rate. This viscosity is versatile enough for most RC vehicles and conditions, providing a balanced compromise between slow, sluggish suspension response and overly soft, bouncy handling. It's an ideal starting point for tuning your suspension setup.
- 150ml Bottle Size — The 150ml container provides sufficient quantity for multiple shock refills and maintenance cycles, making it economical for both casual RC enthusiasts and dedicated competitors who regularly service their suspension systems. The size is practical for home storage and easy to pour without waste.
- Consistent Damping Performance — Using genuine Team Corally shock oil ensures that your suspension delivers predictable, repeatable damping characteristics from one run to the next. This consistency is crucial for developing suspension setups, tuning for different track conditions, and maintaining competitive performance throughout a racing season.
- Professional Grade Quality — Team Corally is a trusted brand among RC competitors and serious hobbyists. This shock oil meets the quality standards expected by professional racing teams and RC car enthusiasts who refuse to compromise on component quality.
Technical Performance
The Corally Shock Oil Ultra Pure Silicone 47.5 WT is engineered with precision formulation that delivers consistent viscosity performance critical to shock absorber operation. At 47.5 WT, this oil provides medium-rate damping suitable for a wide spectrum of RC vehicles including buggies, trucks, touring cars and off-road models. The ultra-pure silicone composition ensures thermal stability across varying ambient conditions, preventing the oil from becoming too thin in warm weather or too thick in cooler temperatures. This stability is essential for maintaining consistent suspension characteristics throughout a full day of racing or bashing. The 150ml volume in the bottle is sufficient for complete shock service and refills, with enough reserve for ongoing maintenance. Unlike inferior shock oils that may contain water or settle into stratified layers over time, pure silicone oil remains homogeneous and reliable, delivering the exact damping characteristics that suspension engineers designed into your RC car. Whether you're dialling in a competitive touring car setup on tarmac, tuning a stadium truck for jump absorption, or running an off-road buggy through rough terrain, this shock oil provides the foundational consistency needed for suspension performance you can trust and replicate.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What does 47.5 WT mean and how does it compare to other viscosity grades? — The WT (weight) marking indicates viscosity rating, with higher numbers meaning thicker, slower-damping oil. 47.5 WT is a medium-weight oil that provides balanced damping suitable for general-purpose RC use. Lighter oils like 30 WT offer faster suspension response for high-grip surfaces, while heavier oils like 60 WT provide slower damping for rough terrain or excessive bouncing. 47.5 WT is an excellent middle ground for tuning and experimentation.
- How often should I change my RC car's shock oil? — Shock oil should be refreshed regularly, particularly if your RC car sees frequent use. After every 10-15 hours of running, or whenever you notice inconsistent suspension response, sluggish handling, or visible contamination in the shocks, it's time to service them. Regular maintenance with fresh shock oil ensures your suspension performs at its peak and extends the life of your shock components.
- Is Corally Shock Oil suitable for all RC vehicle types? — Yes, the 47.5 WT viscosity is versatile and appropriate for most RC vehicles including buggies, trucks, touring cars, and off-road models. However, your specific setup, driving style, and track conditions may benefit from lighter or heavier oils. Once you establish your baseline with 47.5 WT, you can experiment with other viscosity grades to fine-tune your suspension for your particular needs.
- Why choose pure silicone oil over other shock fluids? — Pure silicone oil offers superior thermal stability, consistent viscosity across temperature ranges, and resistance to water contamination compared to mineral oils or blended alternatives. It doesn't break down, separate, or sludge over time, ensuring your shocks maintain their damping characteristics throughout a full season of use. For competitive RC racing and serious hobbyists, pure silicone is the professional standard.
- Can I mix different brands or viscosity grades of shock oil? — It's best practice to use a single brand and viscosity grade in your shocks to maintain consistent damping characteristics. Mixing oils can create unpredictable damping behaviour and make suspension tuning impossible. Always completely drain and refill with fresh oil of your chosen grade rather than topping up with different oils.
- How do I know if my shock oil needs replacing? — Signs of degraded shock oil include visible discolouration or cloudiness in the shocks, sluggish or inconsistent suspension response, excessive bouncing or loss of grip, and separation or layering visible through clear shock bodies. If you notice any of these signs, drain the old oil completely and refill with fresh shock oil immediately.
