Overview
The Corally Shock Oil Ultra Pure Silicone 42.5 WT is an essential maintenance fluid for RC enthusiasts across the UK who demand precision tuning and optimal performance from their shock absorbers. Whether you're piloting a competitive 1/10 scale RC buggy, a high-speed RC car, or any other RC vehicle type that relies on finely-tuned suspension geometry, shock oil viscosity plays a critical role in determining how your vehicle handles corners, absorbs impacts, and responds to track conditions. This 150ml bottle of ultra-pure silicone shock oil is specifically formulated to deliver consistent damping characteristics that allow you to dial in your suspension setup with confidence.
Shock oil is not simply lubricant—it is the lifeblood of your suspension system. The viscosity grade you choose directly affects how quickly your shock absorbers compress and extend, influencing everything from ride height to cornering stability. The Corally 42.5 WT sits in the middle range of viscosity options, making it a versatile choice for many racing conditions and driving styles. RC racers, bashers, and serious hobbyists throughout the UK rely on quality shock oils to maintain consistent performance lap after lap, whether you're competing at your local RC track or enjoying weekend recreational driving. Having the right shock oil on hand is essential for anyone serious about maximising their RC investment.
Team Corally has built a reputation for producing reliable, high-quality RC components and consumables that meet the exacting standards of competitive drivers. This shock oil is 100% pure silicone, meaning it delivers the performance characteristics you need without additives or impurities that could compromise your tuning efforts. The 150ml bottle size is practical for both new users setting up their first RC car UK and experienced racers who maintain multiple vehicles and need a reliable supply of consumable fluids.
Key Features
- 100% Pure Silicone Formulation — This shock oil is formulated from pure silicone with no fillers, additives, or impurities that could alter its damping characteristics or degrade over time, ensuring you get consistent performance every time you apply it to your suspension.
- 42.5 WT Viscosity Grade — The 42.5 weight viscosity marking indicates this oil has moderate thickness, making it suitable for a wide range of track conditions and driving styles, from smooth asphalt tracks to rougher terrain where balanced suspension response is critical.
- 150ml Convenient Bottle Size — The 150ml container provides ample volume for multiple shock refills and adjustments without wastage, allowing you to fine-tune your setup throughout a season or across multiple vehicles without needing to reorder frequently.
- Professional-Grade Damping Fluid — Designed specifically for shock absorbers used in competitive RC vehicles, this fluid maintains its viscosity characteristics across temperature ranges encountered during intensive driving sessions, ensuring predictable handling.
- Easy Precision Application — The liquid format allows for accurate measurement and application directly into shock absorbers, giving you complete control over your damping setup and the ability to make incremental adjustments to suspension performance.
- Team Corally Quality Assurance — As a product from Team Corally, a respected manufacturer of RC components, this shock oil meets rigorous quality standards and is used by RC competitors and enthusiasts across Europe and the UK.
Technical Performance
Shock oil viscosity is measured in weight (WT) grades, and the 42.5 WT specification places this Corally product in the medium viscosity category. To understand why this matters: lighter oils (lower WT numbers like 25 WT or 30 WT) allow shocks to move more freely and are often preferred on smooth, high-grip tracks where you need responsive suspension; heavier oils (higher WT numbers like 50 WT or 60 WT) create more resistance and are used on rough terrain or when you need to reduce diving and squat. The 42.5 WT sits perfectly in the middle, making it an excellent starting point for general-purpose racing and recreational driving with ready to run RC cars or custom setups. The pure silicone construction ensures that the oil won't break down, separate, or become contaminated with water or dust, which would compromise your carefully-tuned suspension geometry. Temperature stability is particularly important for RC shock oils—as your vehicle runs during competition or weekend bashing, friction within the shocks generates heat, and premium formulations like this one maintain consistent viscosity across the temperature range you'll encounter during driving. This consistency is why competitive RC drivers in the UK and worldwide trust purpose-built shock oils rather than generic oils or substitutes. With a 150ml volume, you have enough fluid to service your shocks multiple times or maintain the suspension on several different RC vehicles, whether they're 1/10 scale buggies, monster trucks, or other specialist platforms.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What does the 42.5 WT viscosity grade mean? — WT stands for weight, which measures the thickness or viscosity of the shock oil. The 42.5 grade indicates this is a medium-weight oil suitable for general-purpose RC vehicle suspension tuning. Lower numbers (like 25 WT) flow more freely for responsive suspension on smooth tracks, while higher numbers (like 50 WT) provide more damping resistance for rough terrain. At 42.5 WT, this oil is a versatile choice that works well for most RC enthusiasts starting out with suspension tuning.
- Is Corally shock oil suitable for beginners? — Yes, absolutely. While suspension tuning itself requires learning, the Corally 42.5 WT is an excellent beginner-friendly viscosity grade because it works across a range of conditions without being too light (which causes excessive bouncing) or too heavy (which makes the vehicle feel sluggish). If you're new to RC cars UK and want to experiment with suspension setup, starting with a medium-weight oil like this one is recommended by most experienced hobbyists.
- Why is pure silicone oil important for RC shock absorbers? — Pure silicone oil maintains consistent viscosity, doesn't degrade over time, and resists water absorption and oxidation better than mineral oils or mixed formulations. This means your suspension setup will remain tuned and predictable across multiple driving sessions, and you won't need to replace the oil as frequently. For competitive drivers, this consistency is essential; for casual RC enthusiasts, it simply means better long-term reliability and less maintenance headache.
- How much shock oil do I need to refill my suspension? — This depends on your specific RC vehicle and shock absorber design, but typically each shock requires between 5-10ml of oil depending on the model and desired damping level. With a 150ml bottle, you can service 15-30 shocks, making this bottle suitable for maintaining multiple vehicles or tuning your shocks multiple times as you dial in your setup.
- What is the difference between 42.5 WT and other viscosity grades? — Corally offers shock oils in various weights. The 42.5 WT is in the middle of the range: lighter weights like 30 WT provide more responsive, bouncy suspension ideal for smooth asphalt tracks; heavier weights like 50 WT or above provide more damping and control for rough terrain and high-speed bashing. The 42.5 WT is the best all-rounder for drivers who want one oil that works across different conditions.
- Is this shock oil compatible with my RC vehicle? — This is a universal shock oil designed for any RC vehicle with fluid-damped shock absorbers, including 1/10 scale buggies, monster trucks, truggy platforms, and other RC car types from any manufacturer. Whether you're running Traxxas, ARRMA, Losi, FTX, or any other brand, if your shocks accept liquid damping fluid, this Corally oil will work.
