The CORALLY M0.6 PINION SHORT HARDENED STEEL 23 TEETH SHAFT DIA. 3.17mm (C-71623) is a premium precision gear component designed for RC car enthusiasts across the UK who demand the highest levels of performance and reliability. Whether you're a dedicated racer, weekend basher, or someone looking to upgrade your existing RC car setup, this professional-grade pinion gear delivers exceptional durability and concentricity that will transform your driving experience. Team Corally has engineered this pinion to work seamlessly with M0.6 gearing systems, making it an ideal choice for Tamiya RC models and compatible vehicles that utilise this popular modulus standard.

Manufactured in Europe using special hardened steel and created on precision CNC machinery, this 23-tooth pinion represents the pinnacle of gear engineering for RC car UK enthusiasts. Every single gear is marked with its tooth number for instant identification, and the ultra-true running design ensures vibration-free operation that translates directly into smoother acceleration and more precise handling on the track. If you're serious about maximising your RC car's performance, upgrading to a high-quality pinion like this C-71623 is one of the most effective modifications you can make.

The short design of this pinion makes it compatible with a wide range of motor installations, and the 3.17mm shaft diameter ensures a secure fit with standard RC car motors. Whether you're upgrading a worn gear or fine-tuning your gearing ratio for a specific track condition, this Corally pinion offers the consistency and quality that competitive RC drivers and hobbyists alike depend on for reliable performance.

Key Features

  • Hardened Steel Construction — This pinion is manufactured from special hardened steel, which provides exceptional toughness and durability compared to standard aluminium gears. This means the teeth are far less likely to strip or wear prematurely, even under extreme racing conditions or aggressive bashing, giving you a component that will outlast many competitors and provide excellent value for money over time.
  • CNC Cut Teeth with Perfect Concentricity — Each tooth is precisely cut using CNC machinery with ultra-precise shaping, guaranteeing perfect tooth geometry and unparalleled concentricity. This engineering excellence translates to smoother mesh with your spur gear, reduced vibration, and more efficient power transfer from your motor to the drivetrain, resulting in noticeably better acceleration and handling feel.
  • Ultra-True Running Operation — The combination of precision manufacturing and hardened steel construction ensures this pinion runs with minimal runout and vibration. When your gear runs true, your entire drivetrain operates more smoothly, which reduces wear on adjacent components and delivers a more responsive, planted driving experience that competitive racers will immediately appreciate.
  • 23T Tooth Count — The 23-tooth configuration offers an excellent balance between acceleration and top speed for general RC car use. This tooth count is ideal for various track conditions and driving styles, and the availability of other tooth counts in the same M0.6 range means you can experiment and fine-tune your gearing ratio to match your specific track layout and driving preferences.
  • M0.6 Module Compatibility — This pinion is designed specifically for M0.6 gearing systems, which means it's fully compatible with Tamiya RC cars and other vehicles using this modulus standard. This compatibility ensures a perfect mesh fit and eliminates the risk of incompatible or mismatched gearing that could damage your drivetrain.
  • 3.17mm Motor Shaft — The 3.17mm shaft diameter is the standard size for most RC car motors, making this pinion universally compatible with brushed and brushless RC car setups. This universal fit eliminates compatibility concerns and makes upgrading your pinion a straightforward operation that any RC enthusiast can accomplish.
  • Tooth Number Marking — Every pinion is clearly marked with its tooth number for instant visual identification. This thoughtful design feature saves you time when managing multiple pinions or switching between different gearing ratios, and ensures you never accidentally install the wrong gear during maintenance or upgrades.
  • Made in Europe — Team Corally manufactures this pinion in Europe to the highest quality standards, backed by rigorous quality control procedures. Choosing European-manufactured components provides the assurance that your gear has been produced to exacting standards and represents genuine quality, rather than mass-produced alternatives from less regulated manufacturers.

Technical Performance

The CORALLY M0.6 PINION SHORT is engineered with meticulous attention to detail and represents a significant step up in quality compared to budget gear options. The special hardened steel material provides substantially greater durability than standard aluminium pinions, making it an excellent investment for both recreational and competitive RC car UK drivers. The CNC cutting process ensures that every tooth is formed to perfect specifications, with precise angles and dimensions that guarantee smooth engagement with your spur gear and minimal noise during operation. The teeth width of 4.00mm provides robust contact with your spur gear, distributing forces evenly across the mesh and reducing stress concentration that could lead to premature failure. At 9.00mm in overall length, this short design accommodates a wide variety of motor mounting positions and configurations, making it suitable for most standard RC car setups. The 1.5mm hex key size for secure fastening indicates that this pinion is designed for permanent installation rather than frequent changes, offering stable performance throughout your racing season. The M0.6 modulus ensures perfect compatibility with all other M0.6 components in your drivetrain, creating a harmonious gearing system that maximises efficiency and minimises energy loss. For drivers serious about performance, this pinion delivers the precision, durability and engineering excellence that separates competitive RC cars from casual basher setups.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the difference between the M0.6 pinion and other module sizes available? — The M0.6 module is a specific measurement standard for gear tooth profile. Team Corally produce pinions in all gearing sizes, so you can find the perfect match for your RC car. The M0.6 module is specifically compatible with Tamiya RC cars and other vehicles designed for this standard. Using the correct module size is critical — mixing incompatible modules will result in poor mesh, excessive noise, and rapid gear wear.
  • Is this pinion suitable for both brushed and brushless RC cars? — Yes, the CORALLY M0.6 PINION SHORT works with both brushed and brushless motor systems. The 3.17mm shaft diameter is universal across these motor types, and the hardened steel construction handles the power demands of either system. Brushless motors may actually benefit more from this premium pinion due to their higher power output, as the durable construction will handle the additional torque without degradation.
  • How do I know if my RC car uses M0.6 gears? — If your car is a Tamiya model, or was specifically designed for M0.6 gearing, then this pinion is compatible. Check your vehicle's manual or the original parts diagram. The M0.6 module size is marked on Team Corally gears for easy identification. Installing an incompatible module size is the fastest way to damage your drivetrain, so always verify compatibility before purchasing.
  • What tooth count should I choose for my specific track? — The 23-tooth configuration offers a balanced compromise between acceleration and top speed for general use. For tighter tracks with more corners, a lower tooth count (fewer teeth) provides faster acceleration but lower top speed. For faster, more open tracks, a higher tooth count provides better top speed but slightly slower acceleration. Team Corally provides multiple tooth count options in M0.6, allowing you to experiment and find your optimal gearing ratio.
  • Will upgrading to this hardened steel pinion improve my RC car's performance? — Yes, upgrading from a budget pinion to this Team Corally precision gear will deliver noticeable improvements in smoothness, efficiency, and durability. The superior concentricity reduces vibration, the hardened steel resists wear far better than aluminium, and the precision CNC cutting ensures perfect mesh geometry. Competitive RC drivers consider gear upgrades essential for serious performance gains.
  • How often should I replace this pinion? — With proper maintenance and hardened steel construction, this pinion will last significantly longer than budget alternatives. Regular inspection during maintenance sessions will show you any wear, but the durable material means replacements are needed far less frequently. Even intensive racing drivers find that quality pinions like this provide excellent service life and value for money.
  • Is installation difficult? — Installation is straightforward and requires only a 1.5mm hex key to secure the pinion onto your 3.17mm motor shaft. If you're comfortable with basic RC car maintenance, you can complete this installation yourself in minutes. Always ensure the pinion is properly secured before running to prevent it from slipping on the shaft.
