Overview
The Team Associated B74/B74.1 FT Rear Suspension Arms in carbon fibre represent a significant performance upgrade for competitive RC buggy racers across the UK. These Factory Team components are engineered specifically for the RC10B74.1 and RC10B74.1D platforms, delivering the lightweight construction and extreme rigidity that serious competitors demand. Whether you're racing on high-grip carpet at indoor tracks or tackling demanding turf surfaces, these carbon fibre rear arms provide the handling predictability and durability required to push hard and win races. For enthusiasts already running a B74 platform or upgrading from standard components, this is a smart choice that makes a measurable difference in vehicle performance and reliability.
These rear suspension arms showcase Team Associated's commitment to continuous engineering development. The carbon fibre construction reduces unsprung mass by approximately 12 percent compared to the standard hard material option, which translates directly to improved responsiveness and faster weight transfer during cornering. This weight saving is critical in competitive 1/10 scale off-road racing, where every gram matters when you're chasing tenths of a second on the stopwatch. The materials and manufacturing quality reflect Team Associated's racing heritage and championship pedigree in the RC car UK market, making these arms a trusted choice for club racers and serious bashers alike.
As part of Team Associated's Factory Team range, these rear arms integrate seamlessly with the wider B74.1 ecosystem of performance parts and tuning options. The design maintains compatibility with all existing suspension geometry adjustments and allows you to fine-tune your buggy's setup without needing to replace other components. This modularity is one of the defining characteristics of the B74 platform, making it ideal for drivers who want to experiment with different configurations and optimise their setup for specific track conditions.
Key Features
- Lightweight Carbon Fibre Construction — These rear arms deliver approximately 12% weight savings over the hard material alternative, reducing unsprung mass and improving the vehicle's overall responsiveness and handling dynamics. Lower unsprung weight means faster reaction times when the suspension compresses and extends, resulting in more predictable behaviour through bumps and corners.
- Extreme Rigidity — The carbon fibre material provides exceptional stiffness without adding weight, ensuring that the arms maintain perfect geometry under load and deliver more predictable handling in high-traction applications. This rigidity is essential when racing on grip-rich surfaces where precise suspension geometry determines the difference between winning and losing.
- Increased Vehicle Stability in Fast Corners — The combination of lower unsprung mass and extreme rigidity translates to improved vehicle stability when cornering at speed, allowing you to push harder into turns with confidence and maintain better control through high-speed sections of the track.
- Significantly Improved Durability — Carbon fibre offers substantially improved strength compared to hard plastic or standard material options, meaning these arms are built to withstand the demands of intense competitive racing and repeated high-load impacts without flexing, cracking, or breaking.
- Factory Team Quality and Engineering — These components are produced as part of Team Associated's Factory Team range, meaning they meet the highest manufacturing standards and quality control processes used by the brand's race team. You're getting the same parts specification trusted by professional RC racing competitors.
- Full Platform Compatibility — Designed to fit both the RC10B74.1 and RC10B74.1D configurations, these rear arms integrate with the entire B74.1 family of components, including the new low roll centre arm mounts, updated suspension geometry, and all tuning accessories.
Technical Performance
The B74.1 platform represents a significant evolution in 1/10 scale 4WD off-road buggy design, incorporating Team Associated's latest engineering insights from competitive racing programmes worldwide. These Factory Team carbon fibre rear arms are part of the B74.1's comprehensive suspension overhaul, which introduced redesigned low-profile shock towers, new low roll centre C and D arm mounts, and 66mm CVA driveshafts and axles. The rear arms work in conjunction with the updated shock mounting positions, which have been moved further inside the chassis for improved anti-squat characteristics and better weight distribution. The manufacturing process employs advanced carbon fibre composite techniques to ensure consistent wall thickness, proper fibre orientation for maximum strength-to-weight ratio, and precise dimensional tolerances that allow perfect integration with the bulkheads and arm mount system. These specifications combine to create a rear suspension package that maintains perfect geometry even under the extreme loads generated by high-speed cornering, aggressive acceleration, and hard braking events typical of competitive indoor and outdoor carpet racing. The carbon fibre construction ensures that the arms remain rigid throughout a full race season, whereas standard materials may experience flex or fatigue over time, potentially degrading your handling characteristics as the season progresses.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Are these carbon fibre rear arms worth the upgrade for a competition buggy? — Yes, absolutely. The 12% weight saving in unsprung mass directly improves handling responsiveness and corner speed, whilst the extreme rigidity ensures consistent geometry under load. For competitive carpet racing or high-grip turf racing, this translates to measurable performance gains that can make the difference between podium finishes and mid-pack results. If you're serious about winning races, these arms represent a genuine performance investment.
- Will these arms fit my B74 or B74.1? — These arms are specifically designed for the RC10B74.1 and RC10B74.1D platforms. They are part of Team Associated's latest Factory Team component range and integrate with the B74.1's updated suspension geometry, including the new low roll centre arm mounts and redesigned shock mounting positions. If you have an original B74 model, compatibility may vary, so we recommend checking with our experts before ordering.
- What is the performance difference between carbon fibre and hard material rear arms? — Carbon fibre provides three key advantages: approximately 12% weight reduction, which improves acceleration and corner speed; extreme rigidity that maintains perfect suspension geometry under hard racing loads; and significantly improved durability that resists flexing and cracking over multiple race seasons. Hard material arms are acceptable for casual bashing but cannot match the consistency and performance of carbon fibre components in competitive racing.
- Are these suitable for indoor carpet racing? — Yes, these arms are optimised for high-grip carpet racing conditions, where the B74.1 platform excels. The lightweight construction and extreme rigidity work together to deliver the predictable handling and sharp corner speed that modern carpet racing demands. Team Associated's setup documentation includes specific configurations for carpet racing that take full advantage of these components.
- What tools do I need to install these arms? — Installation requires basic RC tools including a hex/nut driver set, which Team Associated offers as the FT Hex/Nut Driver set (AE #1519). The arms bolt directly to your existing arm mounts and bulkheads using standard fasteners, making installation straightforward for anyone with basic RC mechanical experience.
- Will upgrading to carbon fibre rear arms improve my lap times? — The weight reduction and rigidity improvements work together to enhance handling responsiveness and corner speed, potentially improving lap times by reducing unsprung mass inertia and maintaining consistent suspension geometry throughout the race. The measurable performance gain depends on track conditions and driver skill, but the engineering benefits are proven in Team Associated's racing programme.
