Overview
The Team Associated B6 Range Ball Differential Kit (Caged Race) AS91992 is a genuine factory replacement component designed for the legendary B6 platform, one of the most successful 1/10 scale 2WD off-road RC buggies in competitive racing history. Team Associated has dominated 1/10 scale 2WD racing since the release of the original RC10 in 1984, winning 12 of the 17 I.F.M.A.R. World Championships contested in this class—more than all other manufacturers combined. This differential kit represents the engineering excellence and precision that has made Team Associated the choice of champions worldwide, and it's now available as an essential spare or upgrade component for your RC buggy UK setup.
This caged race format ball differential is supplied as a straightforward, service-friendly assembly that delivers consistent performance when built and maintained according to Team Associated's manufacturer guidance. Whether you're refreshing a worn differential after intense competition or keeping a spare ready for quick turnaround between runs at your local track, this is a legitimate factory component that meets the exacting standards expected of true Team Associated equipment. The ball differential is a critical drivetrain component that allows the rear wheels to rotate at different speeds during cornering, which is essential for maintaining traction, reducing tire scrub, and improving overall handling balance on any RC track.
The caged race configuration provides a compact assembly that's easier to service and maintain than traditional open differentials, making it ideal for racers who want reliable, consistent performance without the complexity of constant adjustment. This is a standard part suitable for the entire B6 range, making it a versatile option whether you're running the RC10B6D, RC10B6.1D, RC10B6.2D, or RC10B6.3D platform.

Technical Performance
The Team Associated B6 Range Ball Differential Kit represents the pinnacle of drivetrain engineering for 1/10 scale 2WD off-road racing. The caged race format has been developed through extensive competition experience, where differential performance directly impacts lap times, traction control, and overall chassis balance. The ball differential design allows for precise control of how power is distributed between the rear wheels during acceleration, braking, and cornering. The easy-access ball differential with differential height adjustments (0, 1, 2, and 3mm inserts included) enables racers to optimise the centre of gravity and weight distribution for different track conditions—crucial when racing on high-traction surfaces where forward mass placement directly influences corner exit speed and overall stability. The caged configuration provides the reliability and consistency required in competitive racing environments, where every component must perform flawlessly lap after lap. Built with precision-engineered materials and assembled to factory specifications, this differential maintains the performance standards that Team Associated is recognised for throughout the RC racing community.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is a ball differential and why does my RC buggy need one? — A ball differential is a critical drivetrain component that allows your RC buggy's rear wheels to rotate at different speeds, which is essential during cornering. Without a differential, both wheels would be forced to spin at the same speed, causing the car to lose traction, scrub tyres, and handle poorly. The ball differential uses ball bearings to transfer power while allowing speed variation, which is why it's preferred in competitive racing. This caged race format is specifically optimised for high-traction tracks where precision differential performance directly impacts lap times and consistency.
- Is this differential kit suitable for beginners? — This is a replacement differential component designed for experienced RC racers and hobbyists with assembly knowledge. It is not a complete ready-to-run product and requires installation into an existing B6 series chassis and understanding of differential assembly procedures. If you're new to RC buggies, you may want to start with a complete ready-to-run RC buggy UK package before attempting individual component replacement. However, if you already own a B6 platform buggy and have basic RC maintenance experience, this is an excellent upgrade or replacement part.
- What B6 models is this differential compatible with? — This Team Associated B6 Range Ball Differential Kit is compatible with the complete B6 series including the RC10B6D, RC10B6.1D, RC10B6.2D, and RC10B6.3D. It's designed as a universal solution across the entire B6 range, making it a versatile spare part if you run multiple B6 chassis or want to keep backup components ready for quick turnaround between races.
- How often should I service or replace my ball differential? — Regular maintenance is essential for consistent performance. The differential should be inspected periodically during the racing season, and the caged race format makes this straightforward. Replacement or rebuilding intervals depend on your usage intensity and track conditions. By keeping this genuine Team Associated differential kit in stock as a spare, you ensure minimal downtime between events and can rotate components for extended lifespan and optimal performance maintenance.
- What do the different height adjustment inserts do? — The included 0mm, 1mm, 2mm, and 3mm height inserts allow you to adjust the vertical position of the differential within the chassis. This adjustment affects weight distribution, centre of gravity height, and how the differential interacts with the drivetrain geometry. On high-traction tracks where the B6.1DL buggy (mentioned in Team Associated's engineering notes) benefits from forward mass placement, selecting the correct insert height is crucial for achieving optimal handling balance and maximising cornering performance.
