Overview
The Team Associated 13mm Factory Team Shock Bodies with Genuine Fox Kashima Coat (AS91986) represents a premium suspension upgrade for competitive RC buggy racers and serious enthusiasts in the UK. This complete shock set is engineered to deliver measurable performance improvements across your entire suspension system, with every component you need to refresh four 13mm shocks supplied in one comprehensive package. Whether you're running an RC10B6.4, RC10B7 or any of the compatible Team Associated buggies, this Factory Team upgrade brings genuine benefits to your track performance and handling characteristics.
Designed by Team Associated's engineering team and coated with genuine Fox Kashima coating, these shock bodies and shafts represent the pinnacle of suspension technology for competitive 1/10-scale buggy racing in the UK. The Kashima coating—a specialised surface treatment developed by FOX Racing—reduces friction throughout the shock's operating range, which translates to more responsive suspension behaviour and more predictable handling on the track. For racers who demand the absolute best from their RC car UK setups, this is a Factory Team component that delivers real, measurable advantages during racing.
This is not a complete shock assembly; rather, it is a comprehensive upgrade kit containing shock bodies and shafts in both front (23mm) and rear (27.5mm) configurations, along with all necessary seals and hardware to complete your installation. The kit upgrades all four shocks on your buggy, ensuring consistent suspension performance across both axles and maintaining the precision geometry that competitive racing demands.
Key Features
- Genuine FOX Kashima Coating — The shock bodies and shafts feature authentic FOX Racing Kashima coating, a premium surface treatment that dramatically reduces friction within the shock during compression and extension cycles. This friction reduction means your suspension responds more precisely to track inputs, providing better bump handling and more consistent performance as the shocks operate throughout a full race day without performance degradation.
- Factory Team Engineering — These components are part of Team Associated's Factory Team line, meaning they are developed by the same engineers who compete at the highest levels of RC buggy racing worldwide. You are purchasing suspension technology that has been proven in competitive racing environments and refined through countless hours of testing on demanding tracks.
- Lower Friction Performance — The Kashima coating and precision manufacturing of these shock bodies and shafts result in significantly lower friction compared to standard components. Lower friction means faster, more responsive suspension movement, which translates to improved traction, better power transfer through corners, and more predictable handling characteristics that competitive racers rely upon.
- Improved Bump Handling — The precision-engineered shock bodies, combined with the low-friction shaft design, allow your suspension to respond more efficiently to track bumps and obstacles. Better bump handling means your buggy maintains better traction over rough surfaces, reduces suspension-induced traction loss, and keeps your chassis more stable during aggressive driving.
- Enhanced Traction and Consistency — By providing more consistent suspension performance throughout a race, these Factory Team shocks help maintain traction levels even as the shocks warm up and settle into their operating window. This consistency is critical in competitive racing, where lap times depend on predictable, repeatable performance from start to finish.
- Complete Four-Shock Upgrade Kit — This set contains everything needed to upgrade all four shocks on your buggy. You receive front and rear shock bodies in the correct sizes (23mm front, 27.5mm rear), matching front and rear shock shafts, plus all seals and hardware required for installation. There is no need to source individual components separately.
- Dedicated Front and Rear Lengths — The kit includes purpose-designed shock bodies and shafts in different lengths for front (13x23) and rear (13x27.5) positions. This allows precise tuning of your suspension geometry front to rear, ensuring balanced handling characteristics and optimal weight transfer during acceleration, braking, and cornering.
Technical Performance
The Team Associated 13mm Factory Team Shock Bodies represent the cutting edge of 1/10-scale buggy suspension technology. These 13mm diameter shocks are the standard for competitive off-road racing buggies, offering the optimal balance between damping authority and lightweight construction. The shock bodies measure 23mm in length for the front axle and 27.5mm in length for the rear axle, providing the correct geometry for Team Associated's B-series buggy platforms including the RC10B6.4, RC10B6.4D, RC10B74.2, RC10B74.2D, RC10B7, and RC10B7D models. The genuine FOX Kashima coating applied to all shock bodies and shafts is a hard-anodised surface treatment that creates a self-lubricating layer, reducing metal-to-fluid friction and enabling more precise damping response. The threaded shock bodies allow for easy replacement of internal components, while the 3mm diameter shock shafts are precision-ground and coated to provide smooth, consistent damping action throughout the full range of suspension travel. The precision manufacturing tolerances ensure that all four shocks perform identically, eliminating any performance variance that could affect handling consistency around the track. This is professional-grade suspension technology designed for competitive racers who demand the highest level of performance from their RC buggy.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is FOX Kashima coating and why is it important for RC shocks? — FOX Kashima is a premium surface treatment developed by FOX Racing (the suspension experts who supply full-size off-road vehicles) that creates a hard-anodised, self-lubricating layer on metal surfaces. In RC shocks, this coating dramatically reduces friction between the shock shaft and the shock body oil, allowing the damping oil to flow more smoothly during compression and extension. The result is more responsive suspension that reacts faster to track inputs, maintains performance longer throughout a race day, and provides the precision handling that competitive racers demand.
- Are these Factory Team shocks suitable for competitive racing in the UK? — Yes, absolutely. These are genuine Team Associated Factory Team components, which means they are designed and tested for competitive racing at the highest levels. Team Associated's Factory Team products are used by professional racers around the world, including in major competitions. If you are running a competitive RC buggy UK racing programme or participate in UK RC buggy championships, these shocks represent the same technology used by top racers.
- Will these shocks fit my Team Associated buggy? — These 13mm shocks are compatible with RC10B6.4, RC10B6.4D, RC10B74.2, RC10B74.2D, RC10B7, and RC10B7D models. If your buggy is one of these models and currently uses 13mm shocks, this upgrade kit will be a direct replacement. Check your user manual or measure your current shocks if you are unsure whether your buggy uses the 13mm format.
- What makes these shock bodies better than standard shock components? — These Factory Team shocks combine precision engineering with genuine FOX Kashima coating. The Kashima coating reduces friction, which means your suspension responds more predictably and maintains consistent performance throughout a race. Additionally, Team Associated's Factory Team components are manufactured to tighter tolerances than standard parts, ensuring that all four shocks in your buggy perform identically. This consistency is crucial in competitive racing, where even small variations in suspension performance can affect lap times and handling.
- Do I need any tools to install these shocks? — Installation of shock bodies and shafts typically requires basic RC tools, including a small wrench or hex key to remove your current shocks and install the new components. You may also need a shock oil of the correct weight if you plan to rebuild the internal damping cartridge. Consult your Team Associated buggy manual for specific installation instructions and recommended shock oil specifications.
- Can I use these shock bodies with my existing shock internals? — These shock bodies are threaded 13mm components designed to work with Team Associated 13mm shock cartridges and internal damping systems. Compatibility with internal components depends on your specific buggy model and the cartridge design used. Consult Team Associated's product documentation or contact RC Model Shop for specific compatibility guidance if you plan to reuse existing internal components.
