Overview

The Team Associated 13mm Rear Shock Springs in Yellow represent genuine OEM replacement parts designed for precision suspension tuning on competitive RC buggy platforms. As an authorised Team Associated retailer in the UK, RC Model Shop stocks these professional-grade shock springs for serious RC enthusiasts who demand consistent, repeatable performance from their 1/10 scale RC buggies. Whether you're fine-tuning your RC car's handling on the track or adjusting for different ground conditions, these yellow-coded springs deliver the precise 2.3 lb/in spring rate that Team Associated engineers have specified for optimal balance and traction control.

These 13mm rear shock springs are essential upgrade parts for anyone running an RC10 series buggy, including the B6.4, B6.4D, B74.2, B74.2D, B7, and B7D models. The yellow colour coding system makes identification instant and prevents confusion when swapping between different spring rates. As part of Team Associated's comprehensive spare parts ecosystem, these springs represent the same quality and precision engineering that goes into their complete RC cars. Whether you're a weekend basher testing different setups or a competitive racer optimising for a specific track surface, having genuine Associated shock springs in your spares box is essential for maintaining peak performance across varying conditions.

RC Model Shop is proud to stock authentic Team Associated spares and upgrades that help UK-based RC drivers extract maximum performance from their vehicles. These shock springs are not tuning gimmicks—they are engineered components that directly affect how your RC buggy responds to bumps, maintains grip through corners, and handles acceleration and braking. The colour-coded spring system allows you to build a comprehensive suspension tuning toolkit, experimenting with different rates to find your perfect setup for both indoor carpet tracks and outdoor tarmac circuits.

Key Features

  • Genuine Team Associated OEM Part — This is the official spare part manufactured by Team Associated, ensuring compatibility, durability, and the exact specifications your buggy was engineered to use, eliminating any risk of mismatched components or inferior imitation parts.
  • 2.3 lb/in Spring Rate — The precisely calibrated spring rate provides controlled suspension response, allowing you to fine-tune how your RC car's chassis compresses over bumps and how quickly it returns to ride height, directly impacting both comfort and traction levels.
  • Yellow Colour Coding — The standardised colour identification system makes it instantly recognisable and prevents accidental mixing with different spring rates when managing multiple sets of suspension components.
  • L61 Designation — This specification defines the physical dimensions and compressed length characteristics of the spring, ensuring exact fitment to the 13mm rear shock towers of compatible RC buggy chassis.
  • 9.5T Specification — This measurement refers to the spring coil construction and pitch, affecting how the spring progressively loads and unloads through the suspension travel range.
  • 1.2D Diameter Rating — The wire diameter of 1.2mm provides the correct balance of flexibility and durability, withstanding repeated compression cycles during intense track sessions without permanent deformation.
  • 13mm Shock Compatibility — These springs are specifically engineered for 13mm diameter rear shock bodies, ensuring perfect fitment and preventing binding or excessive play within the shock assembly.
  • Precision Engineering — Team Associated's manufacturing processes ensure consistent spring rates across all springs in a set, providing matched pairs that deliver balanced left-to-right suspension response and predictable handling characteristics.
  • Professional-Grade Quality — Unlike budget alternative springs, these components are tested and validated by Team Associated's engineering team across various racing conditions, guaranteeing reliability during competitive events.
  • Easy Identification and Swapping — The standardised colour-coding system and clear dimensional specifications allow quick identification and hassle-free installation, enabling rapid suspension adjustments between races or practice sessions.

Technical Performance

These 13mm rear shock springs represent the engineering standards expected from Team Associated, a company with decades of RC racing pedigree. The 2.3 lb/in spring rate sits in the mid-range of Team Associated's suspension tuning spectrum, making it suitable for balanced setups across most track conditions and driving styles. The L61 length specification ensures proper shock extension and compression limits, preventing over-extension that could damage internal shock components or under-compression that would compromise suspension travel. The 9.5T coil configuration and 1.2D wire diameter work together to create a progressive spring characteristic—meaning the spring becomes progressively stiffer as it compresses, which helps absorb initial impact energy whilst maintaining support under sustained cornering loads. This progressive characteristic is critical for maintaining traction during acceleration phases whilst preventing chassis bottoming during hard braking. The yellow colour coding places these springs in Team Associated's standard suspension tuning palette, making them ideal for experimenting with different rates to optimise your specific RC buggy's setup. Whether you're running on smooth indoor carpet tracks where softer springs might be preferred, or outdoor tarmac circuits where slightly stiffer springs help maintain corner speed, having genuine Associated shock springs in your spares collection ensures you can make confident suspension adjustments. The manufacturing consistency means paired springs will deliver virtually identical performance, preventing the chassis imbalance that can result from mismatched components. Team Associated's quality control ensures these springs maintain their rated rate through thousands of compression cycles, resisting the spring-rate loss that can occur with inferior products.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Which RC cars are these shock springs compatible with? — These 13mm rear shock springs fit the entire Team Associated RC10 B-series buggy range, including the RC10B6.4, RC10B6.4D, RC10B74.2, RC10B74.2D, RC10B7, and RC10B7D models. If you own any of these competitive 1/10 scale buggies, these springs are a direct replacement for your existing rear shocks.
  • How do I know which spring rate to choose? — Spring rate selection depends on your track surface, driving style, and current setup. Softer springs (lower lb/in ratings) provide more compliance and grip on bumpy surfaces but may allow excessive chassis roll. Stiffer springs (higher lb/in ratings) reduce body roll and improve cornering speed but can feel harsh on rough terrain. The 2.3 lb/in rate of these yellow springs represents a balanced middle ground suitable for most conditions. Many racers keep multiple spring rates on hand to quickly adapt to changing track conditions during practice and racing events.
  • What does the colour coding mean? — Team Associated uses a standardised colour coding system to identify different spring rates at a glance. Yellow designates the 2.3 lb/in rate, making identification instant when managing multiple spring sets. This system prevents the common mistake of installing mismatched springs, which would create unpredictable handling and compromised performance.
  • Can I mix these springs with springs from other manufacturers? — Whilst technically you could fit springs from other brands into Team Associated shocks, we strongly recommend using genuine Associated springs. This ensures consistent rates, proper fitment, and predictable handling characteristics. Mixing different brands or rates can create chassis imbalance and unpredictable suspension response, particularly problematic during competitive racing.
  • How often should I replace my shock springs? — Springs gradually lose their rated tension through repeated compression cycles and can permanently deform from extreme loads or impacts. If your RC car feels like it's sitting lower than before, takes longer to rebound after bumps, or shows inconsistent left-to-right handling, your springs may need replacement. For competitive racers running multiple sessions weekly, annual replacement is common maintenance practice.
  • Are these suitable for outdoor racing? — Yes, these genuine Team Associated springs are fully suitable for outdoor tarmac and dirt track racing. They're manufactured to professional racing standards and have proven their reliability in competitive RC buggy racing across the UK and internationally. Their consistent performance across multiple compression cycles makes them ideal for serious racing applications.
  • What is the difference between this and similar spring rates? — Team Associated produces shock springs in various rates, each colour-coded for easy identification. The 2.3 lb/in rate (yellow) sits in the middle of their standard range. Softer rates provide more suspension compliance, whilst stiffer rates offer more chassis support and reduced body roll. Experimenting with different rates allows you to fine-tune your RC car's handling to suit your driving style and track conditions.
