Overview

The Team Associated 13mm Rear Shock Springs in green are precision-engineered suspension components designed for racers and RC enthusiasts looking to fine-tune the handling characteristics of their Team Associated RC vehicles. These aftermarket shock springs deliver a 1.8 lb/in spring rate, offering the perfect balance for adjusting your RC car's suspension geometry and ride height. Whether you're competing in a local RC racing event, enjoying weekend bashing sessions, or preparing your RC buggy or truck for serious track work, these genuine Team Associated springs provide the performance upgrade you need. Available at RC Model Shop, these springs are an essential upgrade for anyone serious about optimising their RC car's suspension setup in the UK RC hobby market.

With their distinctive green colour coding, these 13mm rear shock springs make it instantly easy to identify them within your suspension system and match them with other components in your typical RC suspension setup. The colour-coded design is not just for aesthetics—it's a practical feature that helps you organise your spare parts collection and ensures you're using the correct spring rate for your specific vehicle setup. These springs are compatible with multiple Team Associated models, making them a versatile option for owners of B6.4D, B6.4, B74.2D, B74.2, B7, and B7D platforms, though they serve as option parts that allow you to customise your vehicle to suit your driving style and track conditions.

As an option part in the Team Associated range, these rear shock springs represent the kind of detailed tuning capability that separates competitive RC racing from casual driving. The 1.8 lb/in rate sits in the mid-range of available options, making it suitable for drivers who want a responsive suspension without excessive softness or harshness. Whether you're dealing with smooth concrete racing surfaces at your local RC track, bumpy outdoor terrain, or variable conditions across different race venues, adjusting your spring rates is one of the most effective ways to dial in your vehicle's handling. By swapping to these green 1.8 lb/in springs, you're taking control of your RC car's performance and tailoring it specifically to your preferences.

Key Features

  • 1.8 lb/in Spring Rate — This medium spring rate is engineered to provide balanced suspension compliance and support, allowing your RC vehicle to absorb bumps and impacts whilst maintaining consistent ground contact and predictable handling through corners and acceleration zones.
  • 13mm Diameter Design — The 13mm specification means these springs are compatible with Team Associated's standard rear shock absorber systems, ensuring they integrate seamlessly with your existing suspension without requiring modifications or adapters.
  • Green Colour Coding — The distinctive green colour makes these springs instantly recognisable in your spares collection, eliminating confusion about spring rates and allowing you to quickly identify and swap springs during setup adjustments at the track or workshop.
  • Precision Engineering — Manufactured to strict Team Associated standards with specifications including L61 (length), 11.5T (turn count), and 1.2D (diameter measurements), ensuring consistent performance and reliability across every spring in the package.
  • Option Part Flexibility — As an official Team Associated option part, these springs allow you to experiment with different suspension setups and find the perfect balance for your particular driving style, vehicle weight distribution, and track conditions.
  • Wide Compatibility — These rear shock springs are compatible with Team Associated B6.4D, B6.4, B74.2D, B74.2, B7, and B7D platforms, making them a versatile addition to your RC spares collection if you own multiple Team Associated vehicles.
  • Professional Racing Credentials — Team Associated is a recognised leader in RC racing technology and engineering, meaning these springs are trusted by competitive racers across the UK and beyond who demand reliability and performance.

Technical Performance

The Team Associated 13mm Rear Shock Springs deliver the precision performance that competitive RC enthusiasts demand. With a spring rate of 1.8 lb/in, these springs are engineered to provide the ideal balance between compliance and support for mid-range racing setups. The technical specifications—L61 length, 11.5T turn count, and 1.2D diameter—represent Team Associated's meticulous engineering standards, ensuring that every spring maintains consistent performance characteristics across multiple race sessions and setup variations. The 13mm diameter specification aligns with Team Associated's standard rear shock absorber systems, guaranteeing compatibility with their B-series platforms. Materials and construction follow Team Associated's reputation for quality, with springs manufactured to maintain their performance characteristics through repeated compression cycles and extended use on the track. The green colour coating serves both functional and practical purposes—it provides a protective layer whilst making these springs instantly identifiable among your spares. For UK RC racing enthusiasts, these springs represent the kind of detailed tuning component that can make measurable differences in cornering grip, acceleration traction, and overall vehicle stability across varying track surfaces and conditions. Whether you're running on indoor carpet tracks, outdoor asphalt, or mixed-surface courses, adjusting your suspension through spring rate changes is one of the most effective and cost-efficient ways to optimise your vehicle's performance without expensive motor or drivetrain upgrades.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What does the 1.8 lb/in spring rate mean for my RC car's performance? — The spring rate indicates how much force is required to compress the spring by one inch. A 1.8 lb/in rate is considered a medium spring, offering balanced compliance for both smooth tracks and bumpy terrain. Lower spring rates (softer) provide more suspension travel and absorption of large impacts, whilst higher rates (stiffer) improve stability and cornering precision. The 1.8 lb/in specification makes these ideal for drivers seeking versatility across different track conditions and setups.
  • Are these springs suitable for beginners learning RC racing? — Yes, absolutely. Beginners benefit from starting with medium spring rates like the 1.8 lb/in specification because they provide forgiving suspension characteristics that are less sensitive to setup mistakes. As you progress and understand how suspension tuning affects your vehicle's handling, you can experiment with softer or stiffer springs to dial in performance. Starting with these green springs gives you a solid baseline from which to learn the fundamentals of suspension tuning.
  • How do I know if I need to change my shock springs? — You should consider changing spring rates if your RC car exhibits specific handling problems: if the suspension feels too soft and the vehicle wallows through corners or bounces excessively, you need stiffer springs; if it feels harsh and loses traction over bumps, you might benefit from softer springs like these 1.8 lb/in units. Experimenting with spring rates is one of the best ways to learn how suspension geometry affects your RC car's on-track behaviour.
  • What Team Associated models are compatible with these springs? — These 13mm rear shock springs are compatible with Team Associated B6.4D, B6.4, B74.2D, B74.2, B7, and B7D platforms. Always verify your specific vehicle's shock absorber diameter before purchasing to ensure compatibility. If you're unsure about your model, our experienced RC specialists at RC Model Shop are happy to help identify the correct parts for your vehicle.
  • What is the difference between L61, 11.5T, and 1.2D specifications? — These are technical measurements of the spring's physical characteristics: L61 represents the compressed length of the spring, 11.5T indicates the number of turns in the coil, and 1.2D refers to the wire diameter. Together, these specifications determine the spring's performance characteristics and ensure consistent quality and compatibility across production batches.
  • How often should I replace these shock springs? — Quality shock springs like these Team Associated units can last many race sessions if properly maintained. However, springs gradually lose their tension over time due to repeated compression cycles. If you notice your suspension sitting lower than before or feeling softer than when new, it's time to replace the springs. Most competitive racers keep spare spring sets for different track conditions, rotating them throughout the season.
