Overview

The Team Associated 1/10 Bleeder Shock Caps (AS6443) represent a game-changing solution for RC enthusiasts and competitive racers who work with emulsion-style (non-bladder) shock absorbers on 1/10 AE platforms. Since the inception of emulsion shocks, builders and racers across the UK and beyond have struggled with notoriously difficult bleeding procedures, messy oil overflow, and inconsistent shock performance. Team Associated has directly addressed these longstanding challenges by engineering Factory Team Bleeder Shock Caps that simplify the entire shock building and maintenance process. Whether you're a seasoned RC car UK competitor, a weekend basher, or someone looking to improve your shock tuning workflow, these caps deliver the precision, reliability and ease of use that modern RC racing demands.

Designed specifically for 1/10 vehicles using AE shocks—including both Factory Team and RTR ranges—these bleeder caps eliminate the frustration of manual air and excess oil removal. The new revised cap design improves durability significantly whilst providing a large seal surface for the included bleeder screw, ensuring a dependable workshop-friendly solution for racers and enthusiasts seeking reliable performance without unnecessary downtime. By allowing excess oil and air to escape via a dedicated bleeder screw, these caps help deliver a clean, repeatable fill and a more consistent shock feel with less mess. This is essential equipment for anyone serious about achieving repeatable, competitive shock performance on their ready to run RC or custom-built 1/10 scale vehicle.

What truly sets the AS6443 apart is how it transforms shock maintenance from a time-consuming, unpredictable chore into a fast, precise operation. Emulsion shocks have been plagued by difficult bleeding procedures that frustrated consumers from beginner to pro level, often resulting in inconsistent performance and wasted oil. Team Associated's Factory Team Bleeder Shock Caps solve these problems with engineering that respects your time and your results. Now you can build, maintain and adjust your shocks with confidence, knowing that every cap delivers the exact same performance every single time.

Key Features

  • Simplified Bleeding Procedure — The integrated bleeder screw system allows excess oil and air to escape cleanly and efficiently, eliminating the mess and confusion that traditionally plagues emulsion shock maintenance and making the entire process faster and more precise than ever before.
  • Consistent Oil Volume — Using the bleeder caps ensures you have the exact amount of oil in your shocks every time, which directly translates to consistent rebound and bound characteristics across all four shocks on your RC car.
  • Improved Cap Durability — The revised cap design enhances durability significantly and includes a large seal surface specifically engineered to work effectively with the included bleeder screw, preventing leaks and ensuring long-term reliability.
  • Four Precision Bleeder Screws Included — Each set includes four 2-56 button head bleeder screws with 0.050 inch hex socket, manufactured to exacting Team Associated standards and designed for multiple build and rebuild cycles without wear or damage.
  • Faster Build and Rebuild Process — Making building and rebuilding emulsion shocks faster and more precise, these caps reduce workshop time significantly whilst improving the quality and consistency of your finished product.
  • Identical Shock Feel Between All Four Corners — Extremely easy to get all four shocks to have the same bound and rebound characteristics, creating a balanced platform that handles predictably and performs consistently lap after lap.
  • Weather-Related Adjustment Made Easy — Temperature increases inside the shock when external conditions change, increasing internal pressure; you can now bleed your shocks on the car in seconds without a huge mess, adapting to weather changes instantly.
  • Consistent Feel Between Multiple Builds — More consistent feel between builds ensures that when you rebuild your shocks, the feel and performance remain identical to your previous setup, making vehicle development more scientific and repeatable.
  • Large Seal Surface for Bleeder Screw — The generous seal surface area minimises the risk of oil leakage around the bleeder screw, maintaining shock integrity and preventing the messy oil loss that is common with traditional shock caps.

Technical Performance

The AS6443 Bleeder Shock Caps are engineered with precision manufacturing standards that Team Associated applies across their entire Factory Team range. Each cap is machined to exacting tolerances, ensuring a perfect fit on 1/10 AE shock bodies whether you're running them on on-road vehicles, off-road buggies, or competition-grade builds. The included 2-56 button head bleeder screws feature a 0.050 inch hex socket, a size commonly found on high-quality RC tools and enabling quick, repeatable adjustments in the field or workshop. The large seal surface area on each cap creates a dependable barrier that prevents oil seepage, a common issue with standard shock caps. The design philosophy behind these caps recognises that shock maintenance and tuning represents a critical component of RC vehicle performance; a poorly bled shock with inconsistent oil volume will cause handling unpredictability, traction loss and uneven weight distribution. By contrast, properly bled shocks with identical fill volumes deliver predictable suspension response, consistent corner speed and reliable performance across changing track and weather conditions. For 1/10 vehicles using AE on-road shocks, the addition of ASC6469 Shock Cap O-rings may be required (sold separately), expanding the compatibility and application range of these caps across the entire AE shock range.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do bleeder shock caps improve my RC car's performance? — Bleeder shock caps ensure you have the exact amount of oil in each shock every time, which means consistent rebound and bound characteristics across all four corners. This creates a balanced, predictable handling platform where your RC car responds the same way lap after lap, allowing you to develop your setup scientifically rather than chasing inconsistent feel.
  • Why is shock bleeding so important for 1/10 RC cars? — Emulsion shocks (non-bladder style) rely on precise oil volume to function correctly. Air bubbles trapped inside the shock create compressibility and unpredictable performance, whilst excess oil causes binding and inconsistent feel. Proper bleeding removes all air and establishes the correct oil level, which is essential for competitive performance on any 1/10 RC vehicle from on-road racers to off-road buggies.
  • Can I use these caps on other RC shock types? — These caps are specifically designed for 1/10 AE shocks, including Factory Team and RTR ranges. For AE on-road shocks, additional ASC6469 Shock Cap O-rings may be required, which are sold separately. If you're unsure about compatibility with your specific shock model, contact our knowledgeable team at RC Model Shop before ordering.
  • How often will I need to bleed my shocks with these caps? — Whenever you rebuild your shocks or notice changes in handling feel, these caps make re-bleeding quick and easy—a process that takes seconds rather than minutes with traditional methods. Temperature changes can also affect internal shock pressure; you can now adjust and re-bleed shocks on the car in seconds without mess, making weather-related tuning adjustments straightforward.
  • Are these caps suitable for beginners? — Absolutely. In fact, beginners benefit significantly from these caps because they simplify what has traditionally been one of the most frustrating aspects of shock maintenance. The bleeder screw system removes the guesswork and mess from the process, making it fast and precise. Experienced racers appreciate the consistency they deliver, whilst newcomers to RC racing can build their shocks with confidence from day one.
  • What size hex socket do the bleeder screws require? — The included 2-56 button head bleeder screws feature a 0.050 inch hex socket. This is a standard size found on most quality RC tool sets, so you'll likely already have the correct driver available in your workshop.
  • Will these caps work with my RTR (ready to run) RC car? — If your ready to run 1/10 RC car uses AE shocks, yes—these caps are compatible with RTR ranges. However, if you have an on-road shock variant, you may need to add ASC6469 Shock Cap O-rings (sold separately). Check your vehicle documentation or contact us to confirm compatibility before purchasing.
  • How do I use the bleeder screw during shock filling? — As you inject oil into the shock, the bleeder screw remains open, allowing air to escape and preventing pressure buildup. This ensures you can fill the shock to the correct level without trapping air bubbles. Once filled to the desired volume, simply close the bleeder screw and you're complete—fast, clean and repeatable every time.
