Overview
The Team Associated Silicone Diff Fluid 7000Cst (AS5454) is a premium racing-grade differential fluid engineered for serious RC enthusiasts and competitive racers across the UK. Part of the prestigious Factory Team range, this laboratory-tested silicone blend delivers the precision and consistency demanded by professional RC car tuning. Whether you're fine-tuning an RC8 or optimising your gear differential setup for track conditions, this 7000cSt fluid represents the gold standard in differential performance fluids for RC cars.
Differential fluid selection is absolutely critical to RC car performance, yet it's often overlooked by hobbyists. The viscosity you choose directly impacts how your differential locks, unlocks and responds to acceleration, cornering and braking. Too thin and your differential behaves unpredictably; too thick and you lose precision. The Team Associated Factory Team Silicone Diff Fluid 7000Cst strikes the perfect balance for gear differential applications, making it an essential upgrade for anyone serious about RC car UK racing performance.
This is not a beginner's product, though beginners will benefit from using it. This is the choice of competitive racers, RC clubs and dedicated enthusiasts who understand that the finest engineering demands the finest supporting products. When you invest in a quality RC model like an Associated RC8 or similar precision RC car, you're making a commitment to performance. This diff fluid completes that commitment.
Key Features
- Premium Silicone Blend — The Factory Team range uses a specially formulated premium silicone that is not found in budget alternatives, providing superior consistency and longevity compared to standard mineral oils, which means your differential behaves predictably lap after lap and season after season.
- Laboratory-Tested Performance — Every batch of Factory Team fluid is laboratory-tested to ensure consistent viscosity and performance characteristics, giving you the confidence that you're using the same fluid that Factory Team engineers and professional racers rely on in competition.
- 7000cSt Viscosity Rating — The 7000cSt specification positions this fluid in the mid-range of the Factory Team differential fluid range, making it suitable for a wide variety of track conditions and driving styles, providing an excellent starting point for differential tuning without requiring extreme viscosities.
- Gear Differential Optimised — This fluid is specifically formulated for gear differential applications rather than ball differentials, ensuring optimal performance in vehicles like the Associated RC8 that utilise this differential type, where the fluid's viscosity critically affects locking behaviour and traction characteristics.
- Racing Performance Formula — Developed specifically for superior RC racing performance, this is not a generic multi-purpose oil but a precision racing product engineered to work in concert with high-performance RC chassis and components to maximise competitive advantage.
- Part of a Comprehensive Range — Factory Team differential fluids are available in multiple viscosities including new additions to the range, allowing you to fine-tune your RC car's handling for specific track conditions, weather and driving technique, giving you complete control over your setup.
- Professional Grade Quality — As part of the Factory Team range, this fluid meets the same exacting standards used in professional RC racing, ensuring that whether you're a weekend basher or competition racer, you're getting a product proven in the most demanding environments.
Technical Performance
The Team Associated Silicone Diff Fluid 7000Cst represents the pinnacle of differential fluid engineering for precision RC racing. At 7000cSt, this fluid strikes an optimal balance in viscosity that makes it suitable for most track conditions and driving styles, serving as an excellent middle-ground choice in the Factory Team differential range. The premium silicone formulation provides several technical advantages over standard mineral-based differential oils: superior temperature stability, which means the fluid's characteristics remain consistent whether racing in summer heat or cooler conditions; enhanced longevity, reducing the frequency of fluid changes and maintaining performance over extended racing seasons; and improved consistency, which translates directly to more predictable differential action and more responsive handling. The laboratory testing ensures that every bottle meets tight tolerances for viscosity, preventing the batch-to-batch variations sometimes found in budget alternatives. For gear differential applications such as those found in the Associated RC8 and its variants (RC8B, RC8Be, RC8T, RC8Te, RC8.2, RC8.2e, RC8B3, RC8B3e, RC8B3.1, RC8B3.1E, RC8B3.2, RC8B3.2E, RC8T3, RC8T3e, RC8T3.1E, RC8T3.2, RC8T3.2E, RC8T4, RC8T4E and RC8B4 series), this fluid provides the exact performance characteristics engineers designed the differentials to work with. The silicone chemistry also offers better resistance to breakdown under the high-shear conditions inside a differential, where gear meshing creates extreme forces and temperatures, ensuring the fluid maintains its protective and performance properties throughout a racing season.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What viscosity of silicone diff fluid should I use for my Associated RC car? — The 7000cSt viscosity is a versatile mid-range option suitable for most track conditions and driving styles. However, the Factory Team range includes multiple viscosities to allow fine-tuning. If you find your differential is locking too much and causing understeer, you may want to try a thinner fluid; if it's not locking enough and causing oversteer, a thicker fluid may help. Start with 7000cSt and adjust from there based on your track experience.
- Is the Team Associated Silicone Diff Fluid 7000Cst suitable for beginners? — Yes, absolutely. While this is a premium racing product, beginners will benefit from using a quality diff fluid from the outset. It will help their RC car handle more predictably and give them better feedback about what the chassis is doing. However, beginners may not immediately understand how to use the viscosity range to tune their car; this comes with experience. Start with 7000Cst and as you gain experience, you can experiment with different viscosities to optimise your setup.
- How often should I change my differential fluid? — With a premium silicone formula like the Factory Team range, the fluid lasts significantly longer than budget alternatives due to superior resistance to breakdown. Most racers change their diff fluid every few months of regular racing or after notable changes in track conditions. Check your fluid regularly for discolouration or contamination, and change it if it appears dirty or has lost its original colour.
- What is the difference between 7000cSt and other viscosities in the Factory Team range? — The viscosity number directly indicates how thick the fluid is. Lower numbers (thinner fluids) allow the differential to unlock more easily, reducing traction and lock-up, which can be useful on high-grip tracks or for racers who prefer more rotation. Higher numbers (thicker fluids) make the differential lock more aggressively, increasing traction but potentially causing understeer if too thick. The 7000cSt sits in the middle, making it an excellent all-around choice.
- Why is silicone diff fluid better than mineral oil? — Premium silicone formulations offer several advantages: superior temperature stability (viscosity doesn't change as much with temperature), better longevity (resists breakdown under the extreme shear conditions inside a differential), enhanced consistency (batch-to-batch variation is minimal), and superior protective qualities. The Factory Team's laboratory testing ensures every bottle meets tight specifications, whereas budget alternatives can vary significantly between bottles.
- Is this fluid compatible with my Associated model? — The 7000Cst is specifically recommended for gear differential applications. Most Associated models use gear differentials, making this fluid compatible with the RC8 range and other models listed in the compatibility section above. If you're unsure whether your model has a gear or ball differential, please contact us, and our experienced RC team will be happy to advise.
- How much differential fluid does my RC car need? — Most RC cars require between 5-10ml of differential fluid, though this varies by model. Consult your Associated manual for the exact quantity. A 30ml bottle of diff fluid typically provides enough for multiple refills, making it economical for serious racers who adjust their differential regularly during the season.
