Technical Performance

The Team Associated Silicone Diff Fluid 2000Cst represents the pinnacle of differential tuning fluid engineering for RC racing applications. The 2000cSt viscosity rating is precisely calibrated to provide the ideal consistency for gear differential RC cars, particularly the Team Associated RC8 range which is renowned for its performance and tuning precision. The premium silicone blend used in this fluid undergoes rigorous laboratory testing to ensure that it maintains consistent viscosity and performance characteristics across a wide range of temperatures and driving conditions. Unlike standard differential oils, this Factory Team formulation is specifically engineered to resist viscosity breakdown during intense racing, meaning the fluid maintains its intended properties throughout extended running sessions. The silicone base provides superior longevity compared to petroleum-based alternatives, reducing the need for frequent fluid changes whilst maintaining optimal differential performance. For RC enthusiasts and competitors serious about perfecting their vehicle's handling dynamics, the 2000cSt viscosity offers an excellent balance—thick enough to provide meaningful differential action and locking characteristics, yet fluid enough to allow precise adjustments across the full range of tuning possibilities. This makes it an ideal choice for racers who want to fine-tune their setup for specific track conditions or driving styles without constantly changing to drastically different viscosities. The laboratory-tested formulation ensures batch-to-batch consistency, meaning you can confidently make chassis adjustments knowing that the differential fluid will perform exactly as expected.

Factory Team Tuning Range

Team Associated's Factory Team shock and differential fluids are available in a comprehensive range of viscosities to cover virtually all tuning needs for modern RC racing vehicles. The differential fluid range includes the most popular viscosities specifically designed for gear differential applications, such as those found in the Associated RC8 platforms. This extensive range means you can fine-tune your differential setup to match changing track conditions, weather, and driving styles throughout your racing season. Whether you need a thicker viscosity for loose carpet or low-grip outdoor tracks, or a thinner fluid for high-grip indoor carpet, the Factory Team range provides the tools you need. Additionally, Team Associated offers premium shock fluids in multiple viscosities including 45wt and 55wt options, allowing you to dial in your suspension performance alongside your differential tuning for a completely optimised RC car setup.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the 2000cSt viscosity and why does it matter for my RC car's differential? — The cSt (centistoke) rating measures the thickness of the differential fluid. A 2000cSt fluid is moderately thick, providing a good balance between differential action and adjustability. This viscosity is ideal for gear differential RC cars as it allows you to make meaningful changes to locking characteristics and handling response without the fluid being so thick that fine-tuning becomes difficult. Different viscosities suit different track conditions—2000cSt is popular for general racing on most surfaces.
  • Is this silicone diff fluid compatible with my Associated RC car? — Yes, the Team Associated Silicone Diff Fluid 2000Cst is specifically formulated for Team Associated RC cars with gear differential applications, particularly the RC8 platforms. If you own an Associated RC8, RC8B, RC8.2, RC8T, or similar models with gear differentials, this fluid is designed to work perfectly in your vehicle. Always consult your vehicle's manual to confirm differential type and capacity before purchase.
  • What is the difference between this silicone differential fluid and standard differential oils? — Factory Team silicone differential fluids are premium laboratory-tested blends specifically formulated for RC racing performance. Unlike standard or generic oils, this silicone formula provides superior consistency—meaning your tuning adjustments remain stable throughout your racing session. The premium silicone also offers better longevity and temperature stability, so the fluid maintains its intended viscosity across varying conditions rather than thinning out during intense driving.
  • How often should I change my differential fluid? — The frequency of differential fluid changes depends on your racing intensity and conditions. Regular racers typically change differential fluid every few months or when they notice the fluid becoming dirty or contaminated. The premium formulation of Factory Team fluid offers extended longevity compared to standard oils, helping to reduce the frequency of changes whilst maintaining optimal performance.
  • Can I use this 2000cSt fluid in other brands of RC cars, or is it exclusively for Associated vehicles? — Whilst this fluid is specifically formulated and tested for Team Associated RC cars, some features may be compatible with other RC vehicles featuring gear differentials of similar design. However, we strongly recommend using manufacturer-specific fluids recommended for your specific RC car model to ensure optimal performance and compatibility. If you're unsure, our expert team at RC Model Shop can advise on suitable alternatives for your particular vehicle.
  • Is this suitable for beginners new to RC car tuning? — Differential fluid tuning is an intermediate-to-advanced aspect of RC car setup that requires understanding of how viscosity affects handling characteristics. Whilst beginners can certainly use this fluid, they may benefit from reading their vehicle's manual and learning about differential tuning principles first. If you're new to RC cars and want expert guidance on setup and tuning, our experienced team at RC Model Shop is happy to help you understand the fundamentals of differential tuning.
  • What volume comes in each bottle? — The source materials do not specify the exact bottle size or volume. We recommend contacting RC Model Shop directly at 01543 577278 or checking with our team in-store to confirm the quantity provided, as this will help you determine whether a single bottle is sufficient for your needs or if you should purchase multiple bottles for testing different viscosities.
