Key Features
- 27.5Wt (313cSt) Half-Weight Grade — This intermediate viscosity provides significantly increased tuning steps compared to whole-weight oils alone, allowing you to achieve precise damping adjustments without resorting to mixing fluids, which is time-consuming, imprecise and difficult to replicate consistently.
- Eliminates Fluid Mixing — The half-weight formulation means you no longer need to blend different oils together to achieve intermediate viscosities, saving time, reducing waste and ensuring you get the exact weight every time you fill your shocks with complete repeatability.
- Made in the USA by Lucas Oil Products — Manufactured exclusively for Team Associated by Lucas Oil Products Inc., this is professional-grade damping fluid developed and produced to the highest standards using American manufacturing quality control and expertise.
- Spill-Proof Seal Insert — The integrated seal insert prevents leakage during transport and storage, keeping your pit box clean and ensuring no product is wasted between track days or weekend bash sessions.
- Twist-to-Open Cap — The user-friendly twist cap design allows quick and easy access to the fluid without complicated opening mechanisms, speeding up shock servicing and fluid changes on the track.
- 2 fl. oz. Bottle Size — The convenient 2-fluid-ounce bottle provides ample fluid for multiple shock servicing cycles, and a 4 fl. oz. version is also available from the manufacturer if you require larger quantities for extensive fleet maintenance.
- Extensive Vehicle Compatibility — This shock oil is compatible with an enormous range of Team Associated models across all categories, from the iconic RC10 Classic and RC10 lines to modern platforms including the RC8 series, TC buggy range, SC short course trucks, APEX racing models, Monster Trucks, Reflex buggies, Enduro trail trucks, and many more.
Technical Performance
Silicone shock fluids are the professional standard in RC suspension tuning because they provide superior consistency and repeatability compared to mineral oils, and they do not degrade or change viscosity significantly across the temperature ranges experienced during typical RC racing and bashing activities. The 27.5Wt formulation at 313 centistokes represents a precisely calibrated viscosity that sits directly between lighter and heavier whole-weight options, giving you access to a critical tuning step that allows for progressive adjustment of your shock damping without dramatic performance jumps. Centistoke (cSt) is the international standard measurement of fluid viscosity, and the 313cSt specification means this oil flows with specific resistance that will slow the compression and rebound of your shock absorbers in a precisely controlled manner. By offering half-weight increments, Team Associated and Lucas Oil recognise that serious RC competitors and dedicated hobbyists need granular control over their suspension characteristics to handle different track conditions, weather variables and driving styles. The silicone composition ensures the fluid remains stable during aggressive suspension cycling, maintains consistent viscosity regardless of ambient temperature variations typical in UK conditions, and resists oxidation and degradation that can occur with lower-quality petroleum-based fluids. Whether you're tuning for high-grip asphalt circuit racing, loose indoor carpet, outdoor dirt tracks, or mixed-condition environments, having access to this intermediate viscosity eliminates the compromise of choosing between the next whole-weight step up or down.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is this shock oil suitable for all Team Associated RC vehicles? — This 27.5Wt silicone shock fluid is compatible with an extensive range of Team Associated models spanning multiple generations and vehicle categories. Compatibility includes the RC10 family (RC10T, RC10B series variants), TC buggy platform (TC6.2, TC7, TC7.1, TC7.2 and later iterations), SC short course trucks (SC10, SC10B, SC10GT, SC10.2, SC10.3), APEX racing models, Monster Trucks, Enduro trail trucks, DB8 and Nomad buggies, Reflex buggies, RIVAL MT series, SR series dirt oval cars, and many competition and limited-edition variants. Consult the comprehensive compatibility list on the manufacturer's specification sheet to confirm compatibility with your specific model.
- What is the difference between this 27.5Wt and other shock oil weights? — Team Associated shock oils are available in different weight grades (typically 15Wt, 20Wt, 25Wt, 27.5Wt, 30Wt and heavier). Lower-weight fluids like 15Wt or 20Wt compress and rebound more quickly, providing a softer, more responsive suspension suitable for low-grip surfaces or high-speed handling. Higher-weight fluids like 30Wt compress and rebound more slowly, providing a stiffer, more controlled suspension ideal for high-grip conditions or additional stability. The 27.5Wt half-weight formulation sits directly between two whole-weight options, giving you a critical intermediate tuning step without the need to mix oils, which is time-consuming and difficult to replicate.
- Can I mix different weights of shock oil? — While it is technically possible to blend different viscosity shock oils to achieve intermediate weights, doing so introduces inconsistency, is difficult to replicate precisely, leads to product waste, and provides no advantage over using a properly formulated half-weight oil like this 27.5Wt option. Team Associated developed and manufactures these half-weight fluids specifically to eliminate the need for mixing, ensuring you achieve identical results every time you service your shocks.
- Why should I use silicone shock oil rather than mineral oil? — Silicone-based shock fluids are the professional industry standard for serious RC suspension tuning because they provide superior consistency, do not degrade or change viscosity significantly across temperature ranges typical in RC use, resist oxidation and breakdown, and maintain their damping characteristics reliably over extended use. Mineral oils and lower-quality petroleum-based fluids can change viscosity with temperature fluctuations, degrade through oxidation, and provide inconsistent damping performance that makes suspension tuning unreliable.
- How often should I change my shock oil? — Shock oil should be serviced according to your vehicle's maintenance schedule, typically every 4-8 hours of running depending on track conditions, frequency of use and vehicle intensity. Loose dirt and sand track conditions require more frequent servicing than clean indoor carpet surfaces. Consult your specific Team Associated model's user manual for precise servicing intervals.
- Will this work with aftermarket shocks? — This is a universal silicone shock oil compatible with any RC shock absorber using oil-damped suspension, including Team Associated original equipment shocks and most aftermarket shock brands. Confirm that your aftermarket shocks use oil damping (as opposed to friction-based damping) and verify viscosity compatibility with the shock manufacturer's specifications.
- What is the shelf life of this shock oil? — Properly stored silicone shock oils remain stable for extended periods. Keep the bottle sealed, store in a cool dry location away from extreme heat or direct sunlight, and the fluid will maintain its viscosity characteristics for years. Once opened and exposed to air, the oil can gradually oxidise over time, so it's good practice to use opened bottles within a reasonable timeframe and keep them sealed when not in use.
