Overview

The Team Associated Silicone Shock Oil 80Wt (1000cSt) AS5425 is a professional-grade damping fluid designed to simplify shock tuning on your RC car, buggy, truck or crawler. Whether you're a competitive racer fine-tuning your 1/10-scale buggy or a weekend basher adjusting your RC monster truck's suspension, this silicone shock oil is an essential consumable that every serious RC enthusiast in the UK should have in their workshop. Made in the USA exclusively for Team Associated by Lucas Oil Products Inc., this fluid represents the gold standard in shock performance, allowing you to achieve precise viscosity control without the hassle of mixing multiple fluids together.

The challenge with older shock tuning methods was that you had to blend different weight oils together to hit your target viscosity, which was time-consuming, messy and inconsistent. The Team Associated Pro Silicone lineup eliminates this problem entirely by offering individual weight options—including half-weight variations—so you can dial in your exact damping requirements straight from the bottle. With the 80Wt option, you get a mid-weight fluid suitable for a wide range of RC applications, from off-road buggies and short-course trucks to trail crawlers and drift cars. This product is part of Team Associated's comprehensive shock oil range, which is engineered to work seamlessly with suspension systems across the entire RC10, RC8, SC10, B-series, T-series and Reflex model families, as well as Element Enduro and other Team Associated platforms.

Whether you're preparing your RC car for a club race, setting up a fresh build, or maintaining your existing model, having the right shock oil on hand is crucial. This 80Wt formulation gives you repeatable, consistent performance lap after lap, allowing you to focus on driving technique rather than suspension variables. The professional packaging includes a convenient twist-to-open cap and a spill-proof seal insert, making it practical for workshop use and safe for transport to the track or field.

Key Features

  • Professional-Grade Silicone Formula — This shock oil is engineered using premium silicone compounds that provide stable, predictable damping characteristics across a wide temperature range, ensuring your suspension behaves consistently whether you're racing in summer heat or winter conditions across the UK.
  • Precise 80Wt (1000cSt) Viscosity — The 80-weight specification delivers a mid-range viscosity rating measured at 1000 centistokes, positioning it as an ideal all-around choice for many RC applications and eliminating the need to mix multiple fluids to achieve your target damping.
  • No More Fluid Blending Required — Instead of wasting time and creating mess by combining different weights, you can now grab this single fluid and apply it directly to your shocks, saving you valuable setup time at the track or before heading out for a weekend bash.
  • Made in the USA by Lucas Oil Products Inc. — Manufactured exclusively for Team Associated by a recognised leader in lubricant technology, this fluid benefits from decades of professional racing and automotive engineering expertise, guaranteeing quality and reliability you can trust.
  • Spill-Proof Seal Insert — The specially designed seal insert prevents leaks and spills during storage and transport, protecting your workshop, vehicle and pit box from messy accidents whilst keeping your shock oil fresh and uncontaminated.
  • Easy-Open Twist Cap Design — The user-friendly twist-to-open cap allows quick, one-handed access to the fluid, making it simple to apply oil to your shocks between heats or whilst adjusting your suspension on the fly.
  • Compatible with Extensive Team Associated Fleet — This shock oil works with virtually every Team Associated RC model, including all RC10 variants (RC10B6, RC10B7, RC10SC6, RC10T6 and beyond), RC8 series (RC8B3, RC8B4, RC8T3, RC8T4), SC10 models, B-series buggies, T-series touring cars, as well as Element Enduro and Reflex platforms, making it a universal workshop essential.
  • Generous 2 fl. oz. Bottle Size — With 2 fluid ounces of premium fluid in each bottle, you have sufficient quantity for multiple shock refills and maintenance sessions, allowing you to keep your RC car suspension properly serviced throughout the season.
  • Part of a Complete Pro Silicone Range — As one fluid in Team Associated's comprehensive Pro Silicone lineup featuring half-weight options, you can fine-tune your exact damping preference by selecting from multiple weight grades, giving you unparalleled suspension control.

Technical Performance

This Team Associated Silicone Shock Oil delivers stable performance across a wide range of RC disciplines. At 1000cSt viscosity, the 80Wt specification is calibrated to provide moderate damping resistance, making it suitable for buggies, touring cars, stadium trucks, short-course vehicles, crawlers and drift cars alike. The silicone formulation ensures the fluid maintains consistent viscosity characteristics over extended use and across temperature variations, a critical factor when you're chasing lap times or pushing your RC model to its limits. The engineering behind this product reflects Team Associated's race-proven heritage; the company has competed at the highest levels of international RC racing for decades, and every product they release undergoes rigorous testing to ensure it performs reliably in competitive environments. Unlike generic or budget shock oils that can break down under thermal stress, this fluid from Lucas Oil Products Inc. is engineered with premium base stocks and additives designed to maintain film strength and damping characteristics lap after lap. When you apply this oil to your shock absorbers, you're investing in suspension consistency that directly translates to more predictable handling, better feedback and ultimately faster lap times or more confident bashful driving. The 2 fl. oz. bottle size provides practical value; a single bottle contains enough fluid to service multiple shocks or to maintain a single model throughout an entire racing season, depending on your usage patterns and how frequently you adjust your setup.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Team Associated Shock Oil suitable for all RC cars and trucks? — This 80Wt fluid is compatible with the vast majority of Team Associated models, including RC10, RC8, SC10, B-series, T-series and Reflex platforms. It also works with many other RC brands' suspension systems that accept standard silicone shock oil. However, always check your vehicle's manual or suspension documentation to confirm the recommended viscosity for your specific model.
  • What does the 1000cSt viscosity rating mean? — Centistokes (cSt) is the standard measurement of fluid viscosity. At 1000cSt, this 80Wt oil represents a mid-range thickness that works well for balanced damping across many RC applications. Lighter oils (lower cSt) provide faster shock response and are better for high-grip surfaces, whilst heavier oils (higher cSt) offer more resistance and are suited to low-grip or high-speed driving.
  • Why should I use Team Associated fluid instead of mixing my own shock oils? — Pre-blended fluids eliminate human error and guarantee consistent viscosity every time. When you mix different weights together manually, you risk getting inconsistent viscosity that changes as the fluids settle, leading to unpredictable suspension performance. This Team Associated product delivers the same damping characteristics every time you apply it, ensuring repeatable setup and more reliable performance at the track.
  • Can I use this shock oil in different types of shocks? — This silicone shock oil is designed for use in standard shock absorbers found on RC buggies, touring cars, monster trucks, stadium trucks and crawlers. Some specialised shock designs may have specific fluid recommendations, so always consult your vehicle or shock manufacturer's guidance before applying any fluid.
  • How often should I change or top up my shock oil? — The frequency depends on your usage. If you race weekly, you may need to top up shocks or change oil every 4-8 weeks. Casual bashers might only need to service shocks seasonally. Always inspect your shocks for leakage, discolouration or separation; if you notice these signs, it's time to refresh your fluid.
  • Is this fluid made in the UK? — No, this shock oil is manufactured in the USA exclusively for Team Associated by Lucas Oil Products Inc., a recognised leader in lubricant production. However, it is readily available at RC Model Shop and other UK RC retailers, ensuring you can get genuine product with proper support.
  • What makes Lucas Oil's formulation special? — Lucas Oil Products Inc. has been manufacturing professional-grade lubricants for racing and automotive applications since 1989. Their expertise in thermal stability, film strength and viscosity consistency is reflected in this Team Associated product, making it a trusted choice for competitors and serious hobbyists alike.
  • Can I store this fluid long-term? — Yes, silicone shock oils are stable for extended storage when kept in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. The spill-proof seal insert helps prevent evaporation and contamination, so your fluid will remain fresh and ready to use whenever you need it.
